Fairy Flower Crowns

Morning all!

I've had this flower crown gathering dust on my polish cabinet for weeks, and god knows I'm never going to actually wear it, so to give it some well deserved attention, I whipped together this glittery gradient inspired by it~

I started with a gradient base of China Glaze In A Lily BitSalon Perfect Oh Snap!, & Essie Chinchilly, then I stamped with Spoiled Visually Slimming, &W320, and finally glittered it up with Sally Hansen Triple Shine Twinkled Pink then matted with Pure Ice Frost Finish.

Lady Queen Reviews: Cream to Powder Foundation and Liquid Lip Pigment

Morning all!

I'm reviewing this makeup duo today, Lady Queen was awesome and sent me a Maycheer foundation in #013 and this Aierlisi liquid lipstick in #12!

The foundation is a tad too orange for my skin, but I think later on this summer once I'm less ghostly pale I might be able to wear it, otherwise I might just give it to a friend.
It's an awesome formula, it feels almost like a grease paint when you're taking it out of the pot, goes on like concealer, and dries to a powder finish?! I've never come across something like this before and I love it! I just wish it came in a paler shade :(

Now for my favorite of this duo, Aierlisi Liquid Lipstick! Well I'm not quite sure what to call this gel-like lippie, it's not a gloss, and definitely not a stain, but not quite pigmented enough that I can call it a lipstick?? I love the raspberry pink shade, it's not quite pink or red, just an awesome middleground :) It has a decent wear time, I can go 4-5 hours before I need to reapply, but if you eat anything, it's definitely going to rub off immediately. If you pick anything from LadyQueen, here's a 15% off code: MWLC15

Neapolitan Gradient

DIY Simply Peel for 1 dollar?!

Morning all!

I've been watching a TON of Simply Nailogical lately, and if you don't know her channel, her holy grail nail product is Simply Peel. It's a peel off liquid latex for messy nail art, but it's 12 bucks a bottle! And I'm suspecting it would dry out before I could even get near finishing off a bottle, so I set off to see if I could make it myself.

I've hunted for cheap palisade alternatives in the past, a few months back everyone was using Super Bond hair glue from Sally Beauty Supply, or making diy mixtures from Elmer's glue but I didn't have much luck with Elmer's, and I can't stand the ammonia smell with hair glue.

I found this awesome tutorial by Sandi Alexi, she actually just bought some liquid latex off of Amazon, and mixed it with glitter to mimic the Simply Peel formula, and it seems to be nearly identical!

I bought the same brand of latex, and I already had a nearly empty nail polish bottle and nail art glitter lying around. I did the math, and this works out to almost a dollar a bottle, that's a steal compared to the 12$ Simply Peel!

I jerry-rigged a funnel with some tin foil and mixed a good amount of silver glitter in my latex, the glitter makes it way easier to see once it's dry.

I did a quick gradient to test out it's peeling capabilities, and it passed the "simply peel like no big deal" test with flying colors! I let the polish dry completely so it left a little behind, next time I'll peel it off right after sponging to get an even cleaner finish.
I'll be doing a full post on the gradient nails tomorrow!

Hey Mr. Owl!

Morning all!

I've gone sepia today with some sketchy owls, I actually used just one plate for this design! Born Pretty sent me BPL-019, the one little plate has 23 different birds plus some bird cages, and they're mostly cute hand drawn owls like the ones above~

I used a matte topcoat to seal everything in and it smeared the owls around a bit, so they're not as crisp as I'd like, but still pretty darn cute!
Here's the link to the plate, and this code is good for 10% off anything on Born Pretty: ALKB31

7 makeup products I'd buy for the gorgeous packaging

Morning all!

This is the sister post to "7 polishes I would buy just for the amazing bottle", although this post is a bit more depressing, because most of these price tags are 40$+, which means I will most likely never get my hands on these, but a girl can dream right?
I'm basically in love with anything and everything Anna Sui

1. Anna Sui Loose Powder Foundation 48.00

hippos and elephants?!

2. PAUL & JOE Menagerie Face & Eye Color Palette 39.00

I imagine this is what Ariel would use on dry land

3. DuWop Seashell Compact 25.00

This is gorgeous plus donates money to save the bees? Yes please!
4. 'Save the Bees' Eye & Cheek Palette

I'm thinking on getting this one very soon~
5. Skull Lip Balm by Rebel's Refinery 7.96

Aren't these purrfect?

6. Paul and Joe Cat Lipstick

I'd almost feel bad using this up, it's so intricate!

7. Paul and Joe Carousel Calliope Eye/Face Color 28.00

Would you bite the bullet for any of these gorgeous products? Or would you rather save your cash and splurge elsewhere?

Stray cat strut

Morning all!

I haven't done any double stamping in ages, and Born Pretty plate BP-59 has a couple different insanely cute cats that I needed on my nails all at once, so first I stamped the tinier cat print in black, then I added a layer of bigger kitties in white. I finished this off with Jordana Shiny Top Coat, it's been my go to as of late, it dries super fast and gives an almost gel like glossy finish. Here is the plate's product page, and this code is good for 10% off anything on Born Pretty: ALKB31

Mani ingredients:
OPI Alpine Snow
Color Club Tru Passion
Jordana Top Coat

Fighting evil by moonlight

Morning all!

I have another Born Pretty stamping plate review, today I have this super cute sailor moon mint design to show you! I haven't used any of my Revlon Parfumerie polishes in ages, Wintermint is my favorite from the whole line. It's a gorgeous pale mint shimmer with teal glitters, and it's mint scented as well! I usually can't deal with scented polishes, Pink Pineapple actually gave me headaches whenever I wore it so I had to give it to a friend. Here is the plate's product page, and this code is good for 10% off anything on Born Pretty: ALKB31

Mani ingredients:
Revlon Parfumerie Wintermint
OPI Alpine Snow
Jordana Top Coat

Raindrops keep falling on my head

Morning all!

I've pulled my nail vinyls from the deep depths of my polish hoard once again, these are from the webshop Zanthara!
These started off with a base of OPI French Quarter For Your Thoughts, then after applying the vinyls I went in with Wet n Wild Garnet My Heel Broke and Color Club Tru Passion.

These vinyls are super durable, so I got away with using five vinyls for this whole mani! I finished this off with Jordana Shiny Topcoat after letting the glitter dry a couple minutes, to prevent any smearing.

Born Pretty Beauty Haul

Morning all!

I've been saving up my points on Born Pretty and I was able to get this tiny makeup haul!
Because everything is so cheap on Born Pretty I don't feel as guilty about buying stuff just because of pretty packaging, so this time I splurged and picked out stuff solely for cute containers.

First up is Mivagirl kiss kiss velvet Color Blusher in #3, it's super pigmented and blends easily, and has a light shimmer. The compact opens up to reveal a mirror and mini brush, I didn't realize it opened up like that so it was quite a surprise when I first opened it!

Next is up Tomato Girl Highlighter in 2#, this is a pearly pink liquid highlighter, it comes in a glass bottle with a bristle brush, and peculiarly enough it actually smells faintly of tomatoes!

Tomato Girl blended and unblended

And last but not least I snagged the Love Alpha Frozen Eye Color in 8#.
This is a super light gel, the best way I can think to describe the consistency is if you mixed Vaseline and eyeshadow?
It's not pigmented enough to use as an eye liner, so I like to use it as a base to add a touch of shimmer to whatever eye look I'm going for. If you decide to snag any of these for yourselves, this code is good for 10% anything on Born Pretty: ALKB31

Glitter all over the room, pink flamingos in the pool

Happy Friday!

I just got this awesome plate from Born Pretty, they sent it over for me to test along with some other nail goodies, this is the plate BP-39.
This image is a little wonky, somehow it's too short for my nails, but too wide for all of the lettering to fit?
But I made it work, and I don't think it looks too shabby!
Here's the link to this plate, and here's a code for 10% anything on Born Pretty's site: ALBK31

Mani ingredients:
Revlon Parfumerie Sunlit Grass
OPI French Quarter For Your Thoughts

Full makeup routine for under 10 dollars!

Morning all!

I was killing time at the Dollar Tree last week and I noticed that they've gotten in a lot of makeup from some decent brands, my store had e.l.f, Wet n Wild, Milani, even some L'oreal!
I gave myself a challenge to put together a full face of makeup for ten dollars, brushes included! I didn't use anything except what I bought that day, and you can see how it turned out in the video below~

The top 7 polishes I would buy just for the amazing bottle

Morning all!

Unusual packaging has always been my greatest weakness, I've bought quite a few makeup products that turned out to be horrible quality and almost unusable, but I've kept them because I can't bear to throw out the cute bottles.

Nail polish isn't usually such a risky business, I very rarely encounter a polish that I'm not able to use, now I just need to start a polish savings account so I can add some of these lovelies to my hoard!

1. Anna Sui

These remind me of vintage avon perfume bottles~

2. Anna Siu (but in cute dress form!)

3. Megan Miller Collection

4. Nfu Oh
5. Bootie Babe

these polishes also have punny names, one that stood out was "Killer Keister:

6. Blackheart Beauty

I have a couple of these, but I wouldn't pass up more!

8. PeriPera

A visual representation of Monday

Morning all!

I think these nails are a perfect visual representation of how I feel about Mondays, I started out optimistically with a game plan, and they were going to look awesome, then as I finished each layer I slowly got more disappointed until I ended up with this "meh" design. Plus this whole color scheme bring a certain cat to mind, haha.

I started with a base of Sally Hansen Triple Shine Sparktacular, then I added some dry brushing w/Essie Rock Star Skinny, then finally I stamped with Urban Outfitters Undercover & the Gogo Only St.Merry plate.

Swatch Sunday: Sally Hansen Triple Shine Pixie Slicks

2 coats w/shiny topcoat

Morning all!

This is the first polish I've swatched so far from my huge goodwill haul, this is Sally Hansen Triple Shine Pixie Slicks, it's a bright salmon pink that's opaque in two coats, and it dries lightening fast!
I mainly stay away from pink shades like this because they always seem to scream pepto bismol, but Pixie Slicks is definitely an exception!
