Portland Thrift Finds

I went to the Portland goodwill bins for the very first time last Saturday, and I came home with quite the haul! By far the best thing I found was this dark jade sateen dress, the brand is Words, but with such a simple brand name I couldn't find any info online.
It has cloth buttons down the front and corset strings in the back, and a darling heart shaped cutout on the bodice.

It's been raining nonstop the last week, so for now I'm pairing this with warm leggings and boots, but this will be a great outfit later on for this summer when it warms up~

this is a fun one to twirl in :)

I walked with you once upon a dream

While sorting through the pics I took of this design I realized this looks just like an outfit of Princess Aurora, and the name Rose Gold Digger suits her as well since she's originally known as Briar Rose. I think there are even some roses hiding somewhere in that floral print~

I started with a base of Salon Perfect Rose Gold Digger then I stamped with China Glaze In a Lily Bit and BPL-027, and of course finished it off w/shiny topcoat.

Cloudy Violet Fractals

I felt like using a "fun" polish, so I brought out a thermal from BPS, but it was too cold to make the shift from purple to blue, so it ended up looking a 'lil drab. I only wore these for two days, so I never got around to snapping any pics while they were blue...

To brighten things up, I added some geometric stamping w/China Glaze In a Lily Bit and BPL-027. I finished these off with the usual thick coat of shiny topcoat. I love that the stamping came out sheer enough that you can still see the glitters peeking out from underneath.

Swatch Sunday: Salon Perfect Rose Gold Digger

Hello everyone!

I feel like everybody and their dog has jumped onto the rose gold bandwagon, and it's just now trickling down to drugstore brands.
I'm not brave enough to sport rose gold locks (a.k.a too lazy for that level up upkeep), but I can
certainly have it on my nails!

This is Salon Perfect Rose Gold Digger, it's a super fine mix of light pink and gold glitters in a clear base. Shown above is three coats w/shiny topcoat. Because this is a such a fine glitter, removal wasn't too terrible, about the same as a texture polish. Stay tuned to see some floral stamping with this polish later on!

Neon Geometric Double Stamping

Morning all!

I got the inspiration for this mani from a nail account on IG, and I was sure I bookmarked the post or at least pinned it on Pinterest, but I can't track it down for the life of me :( It was double stamped in the same color scheme, but I changed the design quite a bit.

I loved these nails before adding the second layer of stamping and felt bad covering it up, so they got their own post as well. These started with a base of OPI Alpine Snow, and the stamping was done first with Salon Perfect Oh Snap! & BPL-027, and then Spoiled Visually Slimming. Then finally I matted this with Pure Ice Frost Finish.

Surimi Swirls

Morning everyone!

I didn't start out intending to stamp Surimi nails, but while I finished these off with matte topcoat, I realized they look exactly like the classic ramen topping. If you have no idea what I'm talking about, scroll to the bottom of the post to see a pic of some real Surimi on top of an awesome bowl of ramen I got in Portland a while back.

These started with a base of OPI Alpine Snow, and the stamping was done with Salon Perfect Oh Snap! & BPL-027, and finally I matted this with Pure Ice Frost Finish.

The tale of my seven dollar polish cabinet

Morning everyone!

I've been storing my polish hoard in stackable flat plastic boxes for the past year, and it has gotten pretty out of hand, the boxes are way too heavy to move around so I'd been ignoring all my shimmers for ages because they're on the bottom (I have my hoard sorted by finish, creme, shimmer, crelly, etc.)
Then I also ran out of room for new bottles, so polish was just laying unsorted on the top, and it was just a big mess.

I was perusing the Goodwill bins, and of course I snagged some cute clothes per usual, but then I spied this beauty hiding in the furniture section. For seven dollars!
There's a 'lil hole hiding in the back which explains the pricetag, but since it's facing the wall, that doesn't bother me a bit. And there's still a whole door to fill with more glittery polish! The boxes on top are holding all my stamping plates and nail art brushes.
Having everything sorted out and being able to see all the polish lined up is awesome, if I can't see polishes I end up not using them unless I need that specific color for a weird design, so this will definitely help me make good use of my extensive hoard.

Wet n Wild Megaglo Contour Palette

Good morning everyone!

I recently picked up this contour palette from Wet n Wild in the shade Dulce de Leche, it has a milky white highlight and a light brown contour shade.
I picked mine up from Fred Meyers, full price it's 3.99, but I had a bogo 1/2 coupon (I also got the newly released Photo Focus setting spray).

Both shades are very pigmented and feel almost creamy, even though this is a powder formula. They blend effortlessly and it's easy to build up for a dramatic chiseled style, or for a light and natural look. A little goes a long way as well!

I snapped some pics while doing my makeup in the morning before leaving for work; left is before, and the right side is after doing my contour. This is definitely going to be a new staple in my makeup routine!

Swatch Sunday: Wet n Wild Megalast Violet Attack

Morning everyone!

This is Wet n Wild Megalast Violet Attack, I recently used it as a base for the Prisoner of Azkaban nails, and I wanted to show you what this lovely sapphire blue looked like before I cloaked it in glitter and stamping.
It's a highly pigmented and super smooth, it's one of the rare one coaters in my polish hoard. This is two coats w/shiny topcoat. As shimmers go, it's not very intense, without looking close I'd almost mistake it for a creme.

I solemnly swear I am up to no good

Good morning lovelies!

I just re-read Prisoner of Azkaban a couple weeks ago, so when Lady Queen sent me hehe plate 032I had to get it on my nails asap!
POA is my favorite book in the series, mainly because it has a ton of funny classroom scenes, and Fred and George get the most screen/page time in the third book (the duo are my favorite characters in the whole series).

This plate has Hermione's time turner, Harry's patronus, Sirius's Azkaban number, and some random runes? I don't quite get those, so if any of you lovelies knows how they are related to HP, let me know!

These started with a base of Wet n Wild Megalast Violet Attack then I used a thin layer of Nina Ultra Pro Purple Xing. I stamped the images with OPI Alpine Snow & French Quarter For Your Thoughts.
Here's where to find the stamping plate & this code is good for 15% any order from LadyQueen: MWLC15.

Hypnotic Skinssentials Haul

Good morning lovelies!

Hypnotic Skinssentials sent me a big package of products to try out, and originally there was going to be a video of bath demos and clips of me using the face mask and how to mix it up with yogurt, but my phone rebelled and recorded them with a super low frame rate so my video editing software basically went ewww and wouldn't let me use them.

But I do still have a picture of the Cleopatra milk bath, it has dehydrated rose petals that plump up once they soak in hot water for a while, and the powder also makes the bath look cloudy which makes for a pretty combo.

You can watch me ramble about each one in the video below, I'm trying to incorporate more videos into posts, I'd love to hear if you'd like to see product reviews, makeup routines, or more nail tutorials.

L.A Colors Color Last Tradition

Good morning lovelies!

I have another swatch from the new Color Last line by L.A Colors, this is Tradition!
It's a pastel tiffany blue creme, I'm wearing two coats w/shiny topcoat in these swatches. It's very opaque and creamy, so if you're careful it could be a one coater. I've only had this on for today so I can't say much for the claim of ten day wear, but I'll update this post once I find out!

Coral Curlicues w/BC-08

Good morning lovelies!

I'm reviewing another stamping plate from Lady Queen, today I'm stamping with Lace Series BC-08, this plate has a ton of gorgeous images! I started with a base of L.A Colors Color Last Keepsake then stamped w/L.A Colors Color Last Tradition. I added some glitter with Wet n Wild Wild Shine Sparked and finished off with shiny topcoat. This code is good for 15% any order from LadyQueen: MWLC15.

Double Fishbone Stamping

Good morning lovelies!

Lady Queen sent me a couple stamping plates to review, and one image on JQ-L18 stood out to me, it reminds me of a fishbone design, and I thought it'd look interesting if I double stamped it in opposite directions. I started with a mint creme base, stamped twice in coral, then finally finished it off with a glitter topper (probably too much glitter, it masked most of my stamping...).
This code is good for 15% any order from LadyQueen: MWLC15.

Swatch Sunday: L.A. Colors Color Last Keepsake

Good morning lovelies!

I found a new line of L.A Colors Polishes at Walmart, after a bit of googling I couldn't find anything about them, so I assume they must have been just released. I picked up two shades, Tradition and Keepsake.

L.A Colors Color Last Keepsake is a bright creme coral, this could almost be an one coater, but not quite. I used two coats to get a perfect finish, then finished it off with shiny topcoat.

DIY Charcoal Mask Tutorial

Good morning lovelies!

I have a new face mask to show you today, and I also filmed a little demo/tutorial! I was sent this activated charcoal powder to test out, and I mixed it up with a tube of Feeling Beautiful Avocado & Oatmeal Clay Mask to make my own diy concoction! Watch the video below to see how I put it together.
I think it's strange that it's considered girly to smear actual mud/clay and strange things like charcoal on our faces? But hey, it's fun! This did get pretty messy when I rinsed it off, it left my skin feeling awesome, but this will definitely be an only once in a long while mask.

Swirly glitter explosion

Why hello there!

Today I have a swirly matte glitter design to show off, I've been mainly stamping in white lately, OPI Alpine Snow is just such an awesome polish for stamping!
I think I've used almost every image off the St. Merry plate, for a thirteen dollar plate I've gotten a ton of different designs out of it! I'll have to look into Gogo Only's other plates, because the designs are gorgeous, and the images are big enough for my long nails!

Delush Polish Bitchcraft

Why hello there!

Today I'm swatching up Delush Polish Bitchcraft, I'm tempted to do some witchy nail art with this, maybe Bellatrix? And I do have that awesome HP plate...
I love dark crellies like this polish, I had to revive my bottle with some acetone because it had all but dried up, I'm so happy I was able to save it! I think I didn't screw the lid on quite tight enough, and I haven't used this one in months so it must have had just enough air space to slowly dry out :(
I matted this with Pure Ice Frost Finish.

opacity: 3 coats
dry time: average
consistency: crelly/creme
shade: black base w/hot pink multisized glitters

Rosy Vintage Floral Nail Tutorial

Good morning lovelies!

I'm still in a matte stamping mood, and these were the result of playing around with old polishes and my new stamper that BPS gave me to test out.
It's a marshmallow stamper, I love that it's double ended with different sizes, and I was able to use it right off the bat without priming. It picks up delicate images like the one I used today with no fuss.
This code is good for 10% off anything on Born Pretty: ALBK31
These remind me of an old t-shirt I used to have, I wish I still had it to take a pic in front of, I subconsciously picked an identical color palette and the design is very similar.

Swatch Sunday: Delush Polish Freak Show Spectacle

Good morning lovelies!

I've been neglecting my indie polishes, it's been a couple months since I featured one! This is Delush Polish Freak Show Spectacle, I won a mini bottle in a giveaway a couple years back, but it ended up hidden in a little storage box. I was organizing my stash yesterday and found this lil guy, just waiting to get swatched up!

He was pretty dried up and ultra gooey, so I added some acetone out of desperation, and somehow that worked without killing the glitters.
This is four coats w/matte topcoat, I'm assuming if I didn't have to revive it with acetone, and it was it's original viscosity, it would be more opaque.

Geometric Glitter Tutorial

Good morning lovelies!

I've pulled out one of my favorite polishes for today's design, this is Powder Perfect Bay of Alexandria, it's a gorgeous sapphire blue glitter bomb, it's like it was almost designed for me, haha.

Mani Ingredients:

Powder Perfect Bay of Alexandria
Pure Ice Frost Finish
OPI Alpine Snow
Gogo Only St.Merry Plate

I'm been playing around with a couple video editing programs these past couple weeks, and I've finally hit on one that's got all the tools I want but isn't too technical that I'm completely lost (still getting the hang of it though).
I'm going to start filming more tutorials, let me know what kind you'd like to see more of! Freehand, stamping, gradients, just let me know.

  See you tomorrow!
