Color Club Over the Moon

Good morning lovelies!

I swear the minute I decided to swatch something holographic, clouds rolled in and it started raining. This always seems to happen to me....
These are actually day 3 pics, I gave up on trying to take pics with real sunlight, I did my best with a lamp and my camera's flash. So sadly I can't show off the full intensity of the glorious holo. I don't think I even had any wear or tear at this point, which goes to show how awesome the Halo Hue polishes are!

This is two coats of Over the Moon w/shiny topcoat, this is my favorite of the Halo Hues, I just adore this aquamarine shade.

Mad Man in a Box

Good morning lovelies!

This is officially my favorite stamping plate of all time, it's got Harry Potter, Doctor Who, Sherlock, and even a bonus Serenity ship!

I've done a mani showcasing the HP stamps, now it's time for a Doctor Who collection!
These started with Polish Me Silly Love the Hue & China Glaze Luxe & Lush, then I stamped with L.A Colors Gel Daring and JR-31 by My Online Shop.
I matted everything with Pure Ice Frost Finish, I just love this glitter matted so much, it turns a gorgeous gold. My pinky nail is a weeping angel, but for some reason the stamp warped during transfer and became smaller, so it's a bit hard to tell what it is.

Shifty shimmers

Hello lovelies!

I felt like going with something simple and glittery; this lush combo is Polish Me Silly Love the Hue & China Glaze Luxe & Lush.
This has become my go to glitter topper, the shredded iridescent flakie glitter looks great over any color, and looks even more amazing matte, I recently did a matte look with this polish, keep an eye out for it!
The shredded glitter does tend to stick up a bit, but a coat of topcoat smoothed everything out nicely. Watching it reflect different colors throughout the day is entertaining, and having it layered over a duochrome is even better!

Sunday Swatches: Polish Me Silly Love the Hue

Good morning lovelies!

This is another case of why on earth haven't I swatched this yet? Duochrome is one of my favorite polish finishes, and Polish Me Silly Love the Hue is a gorgeous one!

It has a strong royal purple to midnight blue shift, I tried my best to capture that difference, and it's even more stunning irl.
This is four coats w/topcoat, it's insanely sheer so it takes awhile to build up, but it's so worth it!
The dry time is super fast too, which is nice.

The number #1 BB cream for under five bucks!

Good morning lovelies!

I've come to have a new appreciation of BB creams, I love that it can look like I actually spent time putting on foundation when in reality it takes me about 20 seconds to smear it on with my fingers, and I'm out the door.
Or for days when my skin is acting up and looks dreadful but I don't want to irritate it with a full face of makeup, this is a great remedy! And plus the almost three dollar price tag is amazing~

It's actually berry scented which is kinda strange, but the awesome coverage and moisturizing aspect of this formula makes up for that. This is shade #2, it's very light, and easy to thin out/build up.
I found this awesome BB cream on Born Pretty's site here,  and this code is good for 10% off anything on Born Pretty: ALBK31

Maybelline Color Show Gilded Rose

Good morning lovelies!

I hadn't prowled the drugstore makeup section in quite a while, I was looking over Maybelline's new lip stains when I happened upon this little beauty from an old Color Show collection, this is Maybelline Color Show Gilded Rose!
It's a clear based glitter topper, with golden and metallic pink multisized glitters. This is two coats over a base of Wet n Wild Yo Soy (which I also just picked up), this is such a dense glitter, I love it!
This mani wore surprisingly well, I think I had these on a week with no chips or tipwear.

Coty Airspun Powder Review

Good morning lovelies!

I've been using this awesome powder for a couple years, and it's by far the best I've ever used, and cheap to boot!
It's Coty Airspun Loose Face Powder in Translucent, I picked mine up from Walmart, I think it was around six bucks?
It originally came with a huge white powder puff, but I ditched that ages ago in lieu of my brushes.
The powder isn't truly translucent, it does have a pinkish orange tint, and it's floral scented. I like the rosy scent, but from what I've seen from other blogger's reviews, it can be a turn off.

The container is split up with a shaker top, I usually tap that with my brush handle to get some powder in the top, then swirl off the excess powder from my brush into the lid. It's amazing for setting foundation, or just for using on bare skin to control oil. You get a ton of product for a great price, I've been using this container for almost a year and still have tons to go.

Late night posts: rosewater toner

Good evening lovelies!

I'm a lil' late on writing up this review, so here's a quick run down on this lovely rosewater.

I've been lazy in my skincare routine lately, I've been just washing my face with a charcoal bar soap and then moisturizing with jojoba oil and that's it. No serums, toner, or even lotions.
So I'm getting back into using my assortment of "lotions and potions", and the newest addition to my routine is Joyal Beauty's Rosewater. I was sent this to review about a week ago, and I've gotta say, I'm surprised by how much I like it!
Rose is one of my favorite scents, and the mist is rather refreshing! I use 3-4 pumps each go round, and the bottle is 4oz, so this will last me a good while. I still favor using witch hazel as my go to toner, but this is a strong runner up!

How to get birthday beauty freebies

Good morning lovelies!

I'm pretty sure most of you already know of the Ultamate and Sephora Beauty Insider programs, but I wanted to show the gifts they have running this spring!

Ulta is giving away a mini Benefit Roller Lash Mascara,
and Sephora actually had two choices this year, I picked the  Fresh’s Soy Face Cleanser & Rose Face Mask.
The other option was a Marc Jacobs lipstick/eyeliner duo. I'm glad I went with the skin care set, the rose face mask is super lush, and smells amazing, just like fresh rose petals. If you're not signed up to these programs, you really should, I've gotten some great freebies just from these two, like a full size Calvin Klein mascara.

Sally Beauty also has a pretty good rewards program, I haven't signed up because I don't shop much at the store, but they have a 10$ coupon that's sent out on your birthday, which is pretty swell.

Sunday Swatches: Starrily Gumballs

Good morning lovelies!

I've swatched this once before last year over a black base, so I figured it was time to try it out over a light polish! This is Starrily Gumballs over three coats of Pure Ice Shell Pink. It's a mixture of multicolor circle and square glitters in a clear suspension base.
This is one coat of Gumballs, the bottle is
jampacked with glitters and they're very easy to disperse on the nail. I was snacking on some Airheads Xtremes and noticed that the colors match up perfectly with the glitter :D

Top 5 Moisturizers & Serums for Sensitive Skin

Good morning lovelies!

I've amassed quite the collection of lotions and potions, so I thought I'd narrow it down and reveal my top picks for sensitive skin like mine!

1. Jojoba Oil
I've been using it nightly in place of the usual plethora of moisturizers, and I think it's actually helping clear up my skin along with being super moisturizing. It soaks into my skin fast, doesn't feel gross or oily, and it doesn't have a strong scent like argan oil.

2. Anaiti
I have sensitive skin that’s prone to breakouts, so I was a little iffy since there’s shea butter in this, but it has played very nicely with my skin! A little goes a long way, a penny sized dollop is enough for my whole face, and is soaks in fast. It’s very moisturizing, without being greasy; usually heavy creams leave a residue on the skin after sinking in.

2. Art Naturals Anti-Acne Serum
This serum is pretty amazing, usually when something claims it will help clear up acne, I never get definite results, but this has really helped to clear up my skin! I've always had clogged pores and blemishes galore on my cheeks and chin, and after I added this to my nightly routine they started to clear! The dropper is nice, I always like them because they keep gook from getting into my products and you can easily control how much you want to use each time. It has a super faint scent, just a little citrus-y.

4. Cloud 9
This one really helped calm down my skin after a horrible experience with Biotin. This actually clears acne fast along with being super gentle and moisturizing, it has a ton of great ingridients to back it up.

5. Yalmeh
First off, I love this packaging, the clear layer encasing the lotion is neat! The lotion itself is super "fluffy" and whipped almost like a mousse. The description says it helps clear up acne, it hasn't helped at all in that area, but it is super moisturizing and feels nice on my skin, and not greasy. It absorbs in a reasonable amount of time and doesn't leave any residues behind.

Matte to Metallic Floral

Good morning lovelies!

I've been experimenting with different finishes of polish lately, these nails have a matte base and then I stamped with a metallic shimmer. I didn't use topcoat, and somehow I think the stamping pops more because of it?
These started with a base of Wet n Wild Casting Call, and then I stamped with Essie Merci Boku and BornPretty plate BP-L011. This code is good for 10% off anything on Born Pretty: ALBK31

I use Pure Ice Frost Finish to matte my base, it's become one of my favorite (and cheapest!) matte top coats.

Born Pretty also sent me this marshmallow stamper for review, I love that it's double ended with different sizes, and I was able to use it right off the bat without priming. It picks up delicate images like the one I used today with no fuss.

Hard Candy Velvet Mousse in Wisteria

Good morning lovelies!

I'm not usually one to don colorful lipsticks (a.k.a anything not pink/red), but Hard Candy lured me in with their beautiful packaging and the cutely named Velvet Mousse line.
I chose the shade Wisteria, it's a deep creamy eggplant purple.
This isn't a true matte as you can tell by the picture below, but it's less shiny than a satin. I'm glad that it turned out this way though, because matte products always dry out my lips and look ghastly by the end of the day.

It comes in a darling metal velvet lined case, with a mirrored lid. The applicator is a flat doe foot that screws out of the tube.
When I was reading reviews of this shade online, I kept hearing people complaining about Wisteria being streaky, but it was perfectly opaque for me. It survived me eating lunch, and there was no visible wear. It does transfer, but only lightly.

#GlamVoxBox Haul #ChooseToSmooth

Good morning lovelies!

I think the Glam VoxBox is one of the best boxes I've ever received from Influenster, I'm excited to go over it with you!
It was packed with a ton of goodies, I got some Q-tip cotton rounds, some Venus razors and shaving cream, a trio of Shea Moisture samples, Not Your Mother's Clean Freak dry shampoo, and some Cutex nail polish remover pads.
My favorite product is the dry shampoo, my go-to brand has been Herbal Essences Color Envy dry shampoo, but this has totally blown that out of the water.
I really like that it's unscented, and it actually makes my hair feel clean instead of just chalky and dry.

The Cutex polish remover pads were pretty disappointing, it took forever to take off a plain creme mani, and I had to use two of my three packs :/ I wouldn't buy these in the future.

The Venus duo is awesome, the shaving cream is actually purple and violet scented, and lathers up nicely. I'm not a fan of razors with moisture/lotion strips since they can just get in the way of the actual blades and make shaving slower, but these weren't like that at all. I don't think they actually moisturized my skin at all though, but the razor did it's job well enough.

I love the moisturizer that came in this trio, it's the best lotion I've used in ages, it's a heavier cream, and that's why I like it so much, it's very moisturizing and has been amazing to use.
The facial mask seemed to just be a watery version of the lotion, but it was nice to use nonetheless. I didn't much care for the facial scrub, I had to chase the scrubby beads around a fair bit to get anything out of using it, so I ended up using way more product than what should of have been necessary.

Starry Seafoam

Good morning lovelies!

I wanted to do a gradient something, but that felt too plain, so I used a ton of glitter, studs, and a huge nail charm, and ended up with this shiny blinged out hot mess.
The color scheme was loosely inspired by these nails, sadly I don't have polishes in the exact colors. This nail charm is so pretty, but that one nail is noticeably heavier than the rest, which feels kinda weird.

Mani Ingredients
Pure Ice Home Run
OPI French Quarter For Your Thoughts
Pure Ice Shell Pink
China Glaze Luxe and Lush
shiny top coat
studs from Lady Queen I think?
Silver lace nail charm from BornPretty

Swatch Sunday: Wet n Wild Casting Call

Good morning lovelies!

My camera has kicked the bucket :( :( The zoom is totally wonky, and the lense refuses to come out.
So for now I'll have to use my cell camera, it takes semi-decent pictures, but not nearly as good as my poor camera.
Today I'm swatching up Wet n Wild Casting Call, and to distract from my sad picture quality, I'm wearing a little nail crown that Born Pretty sent me. Here's the link to the crown nail ring, and this code is good for 10% off anything on Born Pretty: ALBK31

Polish details
3 coats
1 coat of Pure Ice Frost Finish

Hard Candy Glamoflauge Ivory vs.Porcelain

Good morning lovelies!

I started using the Glamoflauge line back in October, and at first I was so ecstatic to finally have a shade pale enough for my skin, but then I came to the realization that the shade Porcelain is actually too light for me.
So I got the next shade up, which is Ivory, and it turns out to be the exact right color for me!
Ivory has a pinker toned base than Porcelain, and the durability is exactly the same as the prior, I have a full review on Porcelain here.
When I wear Porcelain it's super obvious when it rubs off around my nose and mouth, I've been sniffly lately, and blowing my nose every two seconds isn't very kind to makeup. So I'm attempting to not smear off all my foundation by the end of the day, and having the correct shade will definitely help my end product!

Skinfood Black Sesame Hot Mask

Good morning lovelies!

Today I have a rundown on the Skinfood Black Sesame Hot Mask. I found it on Amazon for about 10 bucks, I've been using it for a couple weeks now, and I'm ready to tell you what I think!

It's a thick mask, it feels oily while you massage it into your skin, but it rinses off like soap. I suspect the glycerin base is the secret to it "heating up", I think the oil conducts heat fast and makes it feel like it's self heating. After a couple minutes the mask does start to drip and melt, so be sure not to get any near your eyes (found that out the hard way, ouch)! This has sesame seed powder which makes for a super fine exfoliant, and despite that oily feel, it isn't very moisturizing.

This claims to "deep cleanse and smooth rough scaly skin".The directions are entertaining, they say "Apply an appropriate amount to face, particularly to areas rich in keratin." What?? I wasn't aware that we have keratin on our faces...
This was a fun product to add to my skin care collection, but didn't give me the wow factor I was hoping for.

Kinda looks like I ground pepper on my face

Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Jade Jump

2 coats w/shiny topcoat

Good morning lovelies!

I realize it's a very tall order considering how large a polish hoard I have, but I'm still working on completing my swatch archives, or at least having links for most of my older polishes. So today I'm swatching up Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Jade Jump, it's a pastel pistachio creme, and it's opaque in two easy coats.
I love the brushes in the Insta-Dri line, the bristles are nicely rounded, so I'm able to make a clean round curve around my cuticle with hardly any post-mani cleanup to smooth the edges.
Excuse the red staining around my fingertips, this swatch is from before I painted my Louboutin Watermelon nail art.

nitwit! blubber! oddment! tweak!

Good morning lovelies!

I've always thought Albus had the best quotes, they're always thought provoking or just delightfully nonsensical. I had to do some HP nails to go with my recently purchased bottle of Lucky 13 Lacquer Golden Snitch, and the plate JR-31 by My Online Shop was the perfect companion!
All of these images came from that one plate, I stamped them with Sinful Colors Black on Black, and finished it off w/shiny topcoat. I'm
disappointed in myself, there's actually a golden snitch image on the plate that I just now noticed, but I didn't use it....
