Color Club Mad Batter

Good morning lovelies!

Color Club Mad Batter is one of my favorite speckled polishes; that's what I like to call this breed of glittery creme.
Speckled cremes look great layered with other glitters, and really pop when layered under some stamping.
This is three coats of Mad Batter w/shiny topcoat, it layers up very nicely and doesn't drag around on the nail making bald spots like a lot of other crellies.
I might just have to paint some Alice in Wonderland nail art to go with this polish to do the name justice, and I'm sure I have some other polishes inspired by Lewis Carrol I can throw in for good measure!

Swatch Sunday: Jesse's Girl Glee

Good morning lovelies!

I was looking through Rite Aid's nail polish section and came to the realization that the brand Julie's Girl and the brand Jesse's Girl are the same formula polishes, just rebottled with different names??
Anywho, this is Jesse's Girl Glee, and if I remember correctly, the Julie's Girl version is named Mermaid Tale.
It's a complicated mixture, in real life it has a much yellower sheen, and reflects everywhere from green to blue to yellow. This is three coats; it does like to drag around a bit on the nail, so watch out for bald spots. This is such a gorgeous color, I'm going to matte it next!

Tsum Tsum Donald Nails

Good morning lovelies!

I first happened upon Tsum Tsums on Carrie Hope Fletcher's Youtube channel ages ago in this collab video, almost a full year ago, and now I just found out that Walmart has started carrying mini Tsum Tsums! I had a great debate on whether Donald or Dumbo was cuter, and which one needed to come live on my desk at work, and you can see who won out in the cute contest! (but a few more may sneak home with me later)
These nails started with a base of OPI Alpine Snow and Color Club  Macaroon Swoon, the stripes and Donald's hat were done with L.A Colors Gel Daring, and I used acrylic paint for the rest.

Illegible Text w/BM-705

Good morning lovelies!

This is a purely random design, while I was putting my new Mochi stamper to the test, I was using my evilest most intricate stamping plates, and one of the first I tried was for this mani; I used BM-705.
I wasn't thinking about actually being able to read the words I was stamping while I did these, I was too focused on the stamping itself, so they're all either sideways or upside down....
It looks pretty though! This is a base of Color Club Mad Batter stamped with Color Club Reddy or Not that's been matted by Pure Ice Frost Finish.

Nibbled nails can grow into ladyfingers

Good morning lovelies!

Nothing makes me happier than a good garage/barn/yard/moving/estate sale, and finding vintage nail polish is the icing on top! I found an old Revlon Wonder Nail from the 60's, Revlon in Wine With Everything, and a brand I've never seen before, Parfait Sabled Red.
After a bit of googling I found this curious advert for Wonder Nail, those little nail confidence boosters gave me a laugh, especially "nibbled nails can grow into ladyfingers".

I swatched up Parfait Sabled Red, it was a little funky from sitting so long, even after a thorough shake. It had some weird chunks of pigment that refused to melt back in, so application was a bit fussy to say the least. It's a very pretty red though! Have any of you lovelies heard of the brand Parfait before? I googled high and low and couldn't come up with any dirt on it.

Hello Cutie Cleanser Review & First Impressions

Good morning lovelies!

Today I have a quasi first impressions review on the Hello Cutie Cleanser by Glam Essentials.
I've used it 2-3 or three times now and wanted to give you lovelies a quick rundown, I got it in the mail about a week ago to test out and review. This has Pomegranate, Peppermint, Eucalyptus, and Green Tea extracts.
The consistency is on the watery side, and they didn't go too heavy on the jojoba beads, so to get a good scrub out of it, you have to chase the beads around a bit. It feels very cooling and moisturizing, I was surprised to see that aloe vera is the number one ingredient! It has a press top lid that screws off, that'll come in handy later on when I want to get at the very last drops of product.
This is a gentle cleanser, it reminds me of Cetaphil, but with added light exfoliants. It doesn't cut through makeup that well, it'll take off my usual light foundation, but doesn't do well with anything heavy. I use a makeup wipe to get off the brunt of my makeup, then finish off with the cleanser.
I also filmed a quick video showing off the product~ The company also gave me this coupon code: GETGLAM9 It's good for 20% on Amazon.

Speckled Floral with BM-724

Good morning lovelies!

I was playing around with my Bundle Monster Mochi stamper, and I basically just looked for the stamping image with the thinnest lines I could find, because I wanted to really put it to the test. It stamped really well, and picked up the smallest details! I have some plates that I've never been able to stamp properly with that I'm really looking forward to trying out with this.
This is three coats of Color Club Mad Batter stamped with Spoiled Visually Slimming (strange name), and BM-724. I matted it with Pure Ice Frost Finish.

My tips for growing out your "tips"

Good morning lovelies!

I've had dozens of cashiers, co-workers, and even random customers in the same checkout line, ask if I do my nails myself, (or alternately if they're Jamberries but I won't even get into that), then "Are those your real nails?", and finally "How do you get them so long without breaking?" I also have followers on my Tumblr that seem to think I wear acrylics??
So I've decided to lay out my nail care routine for you lovelies, and also share the tips I've found to be useful when growing out your nails.

1. Cuticle oil is your best friend

I try to oil my cuticles and nails every other day, and at the very least every time I use nail polish remover/acetone. I've been using straight jojoba oil lately, but almond oil is great too. Burt's Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream is one of my faves, the lemon scent is amazing!

2. Acetone is your worst enemy

I admit I do use acetone a lot, especially for clean up around my cuticles, but I always make sure to moisturize afterwards. Even when removing tough glitter polishes, I try to use nail polish remover because acetone is just so drying and wreaks havoc on my cuticles. It also makes your nails brittler, and more prone to breaking.

3. Keep clear coat/base coat on 24/7

Having some kind of barrier on your nails will help immensely to protect them while doing dishes, taking long baths, or swimming. When your nails have been soaking in water they temporarily become weaker and easier to bend, that's also why you shouldn't cut/file nails after they've been soaking. It's kind of like how you're not supposed to brush your hair while it's wet either, it's easier to break.

Also a couple little things that can help, drink lots of water, and make sure to stay on top of snags by filing them down so they don't get the chance to turn into a full break. I've also heard wonders about Biotin for nail growth, but it caused me to break out badly so I dropped that almost the same day.
I've embraced my yellow nails because almost every method to lighten stains and whiten your nails is actually just causing more damage, in my book yellow = strong!
Also that whole let your nails breathe thing? Total baloney, but soaking bare nails in oil every once in a while is very beneficiary.
I hope this has helped, and if you have any questions I'll be glad to answer them down in the comments!

Geeks Unite Nails with BM-602

Good morning lovelies!

This plate is the main reason I purchased this particular Bundle Monster set, the set has a ton of awesome images, but this one was definitely the clincher.
These nails started with a base of Wet n Wild Garnet! My Heel Broke, and I stamped the geekiness with OPI Alpine Snow and BM-602. I used some old shiny topcoat, can't remember what brand off the top of my head, but nothing special.

The plate also has some cute comic book images, a pair of Harry Potter-esque glasses, and a random emoji? Not sure how that got included in this mix.

One Punch Man Nails

Good morning lovelies!

I finished watching One Punch Man a couple weeks ago, and usually I'm not much for action flicks, but the dead pan humor of the show got me hooked.
These nails showcase the main character Saitama, and they were directly inspired by this image. The gloved fist on my ring is from the opening theme, and I stamped some comic book explosion images with BM-602 in Color Club Reddy Or Not, but my base polish (Wet n Wild Garnet! My Heel Broke) hid the stamping a bit.

The white and black was all done with acrylic paint, and then I matted the design with Pure Ice Frost Finish. I'm pretty satisfied with how these turned out, I wore them for almost a week!

CICI&SISI Golden Stamper Review

Good morning lovelies!

I have a quick review for you today, I got the CICI & SISI stamper set for Christmas, and I wanted to give you guys a quick rundown of what I think of them and how they've been working for me!
It came with a dark gray and white stamping head, scraper, and metal holder. The gray is very firm, it has a little more give than the original Konad stamping head, and the white one is a firm marshmallow. White didn't need any priming, but the gray does, just haven't got around to it yet. I've gotten so used to using super squishy stamping heads that the hard one was almost impossible to use for me at first, I had to go re-learn how to stamp with them again (thanks youtube!).
I love that the holder has some heft to it, it's solid metal and surprisingly heavy. The scraper is pretty standard, but it did make me realize how much a difference a clean scraper makes. I use old gift cards most of the time, and I try to thoroughly clean them off, but after awhile dried residue builds up, and then your image doesn't scrape as perfectly as it can.

Swatch Sunday: Wet n Wild Garnet! My Heel Broke

Good morning lovelies!

I haven't swatched anything Wet n Wild in what seems ages, it's high time to fix that!
This is Wet n Wild Garnet! My Heel Broke, a super glittery shimmer. It built up surprisingly quick, just two coats. Since it is a fine glitter, I was expecting it to be on the sheer side. I'm dreading taking it off though, I see lots of acetone in my future!

  • Formula: super fine glitter shimmer
  • Opacity: 2 coats
  • Wear time: 3 days, no chips
  • Finish: slightly rough-dull finish

Born Pretty Clear Jelly Stamper First Impressions

Good morning lovelies!

I finally got my hands on a clear jelly stamper! I dearly love Born Pretty and they have great stuff for super cheap, but man their shipping is slow... especially when it's something like this that had me counting the days till it got here!
I made a quick video to show my first time using it, so you lovelies can get a feel for how useful being able to see down the barrel is. It stamped perfectly without any priming, and as you can see in the video I chose a very intricate image (it ended up being so delicate it hardly showed up on my nail, but whatev). You also get a sneak peek of my One Punch Man nails, keep an eye out for the full rundown post in a couple days!

Are any of you lovelies planning on snagging one of these? Or if you have already tried it out I'd love to hear your take! Here's the link to this one,  and this code is good for 10% off anything on Born Pretty: ALBK31

Tear off gel lip stain?!

Good morning lovelies!

I remember seeing a product like this ages ago on some strange Asian beauty site that I wasn't brave enough to order from, and then I promptly forgot all about it, and never saw anything like it again. Born Pretty recently added this product, and it looks almost identical to the one I had seen!
It's a pretty strange process, the gel comes with a doe foot applicator, you smooth it onto your lips and let it dry for about 2 minutes, then you peel off the gel to reveal prettily stained lips!

The color lasts all day, and I love to layer regular chapstick over it for fuss free lips. It comes in a bunch of different colors, this is #3.  The packaging is all in Chinese so I guessed at how to apply it, but I seem to have done it right! The brand name is Efolar, but I couldn't find an actual name of the shade. Here's the lip stain link, and this code is good for 10% off anything on Born Pretty: ALBK31

Spoiled Plastic Flamingo

Good morning lovelies!

First things first, this polish is named perfectly, this is truely the pure  essence of plastic flamingo pink. I used to collect plastic flamingo everything, so this polish is one of my new favorites~ It's an awesome formula too, only two coats, could've almost gotten away with one.

  • Opacity: 1-2 coats
  • Dry time: 5 mns
  • Formula: creme
  • Wear time: went three days with no chips
  • Price: this actually came in one of those huge holiday sets
  • Overall 4/5 stars

Frosted Plastic Flamingos

Good morning lovelies!

I created another mani using Hehe006, Lady Queen sent it to me to test and review a while back. I love subtle floral designs like this, although I think I might have gone too subtle this time around, my glitter seems to have swallowed the stamping.
These started with a base of Spoiled Plastic Flamingo, then a thin coat of Blackheart Beauty Hot Pink Black Splatter. The stamping is in OPI French Quarter For Your Thoughts and the matte finish was done with Pure Ice Frost Finish.

This is one of my favorite Aiyoohehe plates, here is it's link. If you want to check out Lady Queen Beauty's site, click here! And here's a code just for you that's good for 15% off order: MWLC15

Que Bella Face Mask Haul & Review

Good morning lovelies!

I've been using these face masks over the past week, and I'm here to tell you what I think of them, and how my skin is feeling after all this pampering. Que Bella offered to send me some to test and review, and they were very generous!

First up is the Pearl Powder Exfoliating Mask, I've actually used this one twice since there was enough for two uses in the pouch. It's a clear jelly-like mask with pearl powder as the exfoliator. The exfoliator beads are on the larger side, and a bit far and in between so I had to chase them around a bit to get a good scrub. Before rinsing off, I let the mask sit for 10 mins like the packaging recommends, and then washed it off.
It's a gentle scrub and left my skin feeling moisturized and soft, it has a very light scent as well.

This is one of my favorites so far, the Revitalising Overnight Face Mask.
This has a thinner gel consistency, and I was also able to get two uses out of the one packet. I put it on about an hour before bed and watched netflix while giving it a chance to dry, I rinsed it off in the morning. It didn't quite give the wow results I was expecting since I kept it on so long, but it did definitely moisturize and give a boost to my skin and also help with my ongoing dry skin battle. I really liked the smell of this, it has a nice soapy clean scent.

Last but not least I tried out the Moisturizing Gel Eye Masks, one pouch comes with three sets!
The patches come in individual foil packets, and you peel the gel off from their plastic, then apply them sticky side down to your under eye area. I was surprised by how big they are, I love how much area they cover! I kept them on about 20 mins, peeled them off and rubbed in the leftover mask serum. My eyes have been feeling irritated for some reason, so these were a lovely pick me up.

Keep an eye out for my next Que Bella post, I still have more masks to test for you lovelies!

Swatch Sunday: Color Club Chelsea Girl

Good morning lovelies!

I was so surprised when I realized I hadn't done a swatch post for this polish yet, it's one of my absolute favorites from Color Club!
This is Color Club Chelsea Girl, it's a bright cobalt blue creme that's super opaque and basically just a dream in a bottle.
If you're careful during application this can be a one coater, but I always like the smooth things out with a second. Shown here is two coats with shiny topcoat, but this polish has a great au naturel shine. Usually super pigmented polishes like this stain my nails horribly, but I didn't even get a slight tint on my nails with this! Sometimes I can just tell when a polish is going to stain, and for some reason this one was setting off warning bells for me. But I worried for not!

Henna with a mani to match!

I went the traditional route with my henna

Good morning lovelies!

I got to playing around with henna last Saturday while staying over at a friend's for the weekend, and I was surprised by how many designs I was able to make with just one cone, if you haven't had the chance to try henna, you really should, it's loads of fun! I stamped some nails to go with my newly decorated hands, and I'm very happy with how they turned out~
These nails started with a base of Rimmel London 60 Seconds Caramel Cupcake, and I stamped them with OPI Alpine Snow & BP-L008.

my friend M requested the APH logo and a wolf

my supernatural obsessed friend Finn  went with the anti possession symbol and mark of cain from the show

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water Review

Good morning lovelies!

I'm always on the lookout for the best and brightest methods of makeup removal, and it seems like everyone in the beauty blogosphere has been raving about micellar water products lately. My friend actually bought me this for me after telling me how much she loved it for taking off makeup at the end of the day, so I was very excited to try this out for myself. I actually haven't been wearing any makeup at all for the last month, so I made sure to thoroughly test this out by going heavier than usual with my foundation and other makeup products.
I was able to remove all of my makeup with one cotton round, but it didn't leave my skin feeling exactly squeaky clean. If you're just looking for something to remove the brunt of your makeup before using a face mask or something of that sort, this would work for you, but it isn't that effective if you want to use one cleanser and be done with it. It took off my mascara and eyeliner after a bit of rubbing so I'm thinking it wouldn't do that well with removing waterproof makeup. The bottle cost around 9 dollars, and since I only need a tiny bit of the "water" for each use, it will last me quite a long time. This will be really nice for when I'm traveling or camping and I'm not able to wash my face but still want to wear a bit of makeup, because I always hate ending the day with grubby feeling skin from badly removed makeup. So this will definitely be great to chuck into my beauty bag for that situation!

Elizavecca Milky Piggy Carbonated Bubble Clay Mask

Hello Lovelies!

I thought I'd very thoroughly explored the world of mud masks, but apparently there are still more weird things left to slather on my face! Today I'm trying out the Elizavecca Milky Piggy Carbonated Bubble Clay Mask, I first heard about it in this Beauty Break video, and then found it on amazon here. I'm kinda annoyed though, because the price has gone down more than two dollars from when I bought it.....

It came in this lil box, I love the piggy sporting a face of mud; very cute! The mask goes on like your average clay mixture, but then it bubbles up into a super thick foam, you can actually hear it foaming on your face! This has got the be the most entertaining beauty product I've used in ages, I think this would be an awesome thing to bring to a girl's night/sleepover~
It left my face feeling sooo soft afterwards, and it somehow foamed up even more when I rinsed it off, I felt like I was in that scene in Charlie & the Chocolate Factory when they go through the Wonka Wash (does anyone remember that??).

It also came with a plastic spatula to scoop out the mask which was a nice addition, the inner plastic lid that holds it in was a huge pain to get off though, I actually had to bust out a butter knife to pry it open. But it was totally worth it! I also recorded a short time lapse video of the mask bubbling up so you can see what it looks like in motion :)
