It was an itsy bitsy teeny weeny yellow polka-dot bikini

Hello Lovelies!

I'm reviewing some water decals I was sent by Born Pretty today! I'd actually never used water decals before, they were way easier to use than I thought they'd be, I thought you had to press them onto your nails like a tattoo, haha.
I started with a base of China Glaze Sunset Sail and a thin coat of China Glaze Luxe & Lush, I'm really loving all the iridescent glitters at the moment. After applying the decals I finished it off with topcoat.

The decals came in this cute little package, there are 30 decals total on one little sheet. I'm looking forward to using these for beachy manis later this summer! Here's the link if you want to check these out. And here's a 10% off code just for you: ALBK31

I must not tell lies

Hello Lovelies!

I've had in my head that I've done tons of Harry Potter nail art, but apparently the last time I had some on my nails was way back in 2012! Don't know how on earth I managed to go so long without, but I'm remedying that today! I had the wonderful idea of combining Dolores Umbridge and "On Wednesdays We Wear Pink", because she is the mean girl of Harry Potter if there ever was one.

My main pink is China Glaze Naked, the floral stamping is Orly Razzleberry and the image is from the St. Merry Gogo Only plate.
I stamped some kittens because of those creepy cats in her office, those were done with BM-723 and Pure Ice Scandal.
My ring finger is a mixture of China Glaze Oxygen and Petites Color Fever Seashell, I freehanded "I must not tell lies" with my new Born Pretty brushes, and Jesse's Girl Running Wild (a fitting name for this mani, right?).
She wears a couple clunky obnoxious necklaces throughout the movie, so I threw some random pearl and gem stickers on as a last minute addition.

I'm rather pleased with how these turned out, my wording bled a bit when I topcoated, but I think that actually added to it. Who's your favorite villain from the Harry Potter universe?

Ghibli Universe Nail Art with Born Pretty Nail Art Brushes

Hello Lovelies!

I was sent some snazzy new nail art brushes to try out from Born Pretty, and since I've been on a Studio Ghibli kick lately, I freehanded some various creatures from the Ghibli universe to test them out.

Right to left is a soot sprite holding a chunk of coal, No-Face, Calcifer, the mini forest sprites from My Neighbor Totoro, and Totoro himself. They were inspired by this doodle I found on tumblr. My base is China Glaze Oxygen with a very thin layer of China Glaze Liquid Crystal dabbed over. The creatures were done with a mixture of polish and acrylic, and I finished off with a shiny topcoat.

Here are the brushes themselves, there are two liners, a square brush, and a short detailer, that's the one I used for these nails. I did all my detailing with that one brush, the only other thing I used was a dotting tool for Calcifer's eyes. I love the floral pattern on the handles, and they came with protective plastic tips so they won't get banged up in my nail accessory case. The bristles cleaned up very nicely with nail polish remover. I think these will be a wonderful addition to my nail art arsenal! Here's a link to their product page if ya wanna check them out. And here's a 10% off code just for you: ALBK31

Mish mash of a skin routine

Hello Lovelies!

Snooping through other people's skin routines is always entertaining for me, so I figured why not do one of my one? Now it's not so much of a routine as a grab bag, I'm pretty irregular about what I use everyday. But these are the ones I reach for most frequently!

Starting from the left, Freeman's Charcoal & Black Sugar Facial Polishing Mask! It's a super thick mask as you can see below, you can use it as a normal exfoliator, and then since it's made of sugar, once the sugar dissolves you can leave the remaining mixture on your skin as a mask for ten minutes before rinsing it off. I usually just use it as a scrub and skip the mask part though. Secondly is their Avocado & Oatmeal Facial Clay Mask. This one is also very thick, and it's tinted pale green. It feels cool on your skin and has a faint smell to it, not an avocado scent, more of a cucumber. You let this one dry until you can touch it and have your fingertip come away clean, then rinse it off with warm water.
I really love this one for when I'm feeling grimy, it does leave your skin feeling a bit tight and squeaky clean, but I like that in a cleanser occasionally.

The last two on the end are from #Bioque! I actually just started using these, I was sent them for review about a month ago. The first is a cleanser, their Gentle Purifying Skin Cleanser. It has an intriguing feel, it's almost creamy but it suds up very nicely like a normal soap cleanser. It has orange peel oil in it, so it has a lovely citrus scent to it which will help wake you up in the morning! Listed in the ingredients is also caffeine in it, but I've never really believed that does much of anything when it's in lotions and potions. Since I hadn't heard anything about this brand before, I took some pics of the ingredient lists is anyone cares to peruse them.
Then there's the Acid Free Facial Skin Refinisher, I'm sure they were trying to re-assure you with the acid free part, but pairing that with skin refinisher makes it sound a little scary right? I wasn't sure what to expect from the name, but it's just an exfoliator. It also has orange peel oil in it, it's scrubby particles are nice and small so it's easy to use, I hate when they have those big beads and too much cleanser, so you end up chasing them around with your fingertips and not getting much scrubbing in at all.

I've already done a post extolling this cold cream, but I figured I'd throw it in anyway. I use it with my little off brand cleansing brush, I found it at Big Lots for eight bucks, and I was able to get a couple packs of the replacements brush heads for it, so I was able to get myself set up for pretty cheap! I like using the cold cream with it because it gets up all my makeup and leaves my skin feeling super soft.

What's your skin routine like? Thanks for visiting with me!

Lilla Rose Flexi-Clip Review & Giveaway

Hello Lovelies!

I seem to be on a roll with these hair posts lately, haha. I've finally found something that I can put my hair up in a bun with besides my trusty spin pins! A couple weeks ago the lovely Elizabeth (she's an independent consultant for Lilla Rose), asked if I'd like to review and give away a Flexi-Clip to my readers, and since I love trying out new doodads, I jumped at the chance!

The Flexi-Clip is a beaded wire clasp that's shaped like a figure eight, they're actually made of piano wire so they're very sturdy! I'm wearing the Antique Brass clip in extra large, they come in tons of different sizes so they'll work for thick and thin hair. I found this handy tutorial for the twisty bun I'm sporting, and this youtube channel is full of pretty ways to use them.
I wore my hair up in this bun all day and it didn't budge an inch, and it was comfortable to wear too, I just hate it when I get the perfect looking bun but I have a pin poking me somewhere and I have to undo it and start over.
It came in the pretty paper sachet below, I thought that was a nice touch!

It only takes me around a minute to get my hair twisted and pinned up, it's great when I'm in a rush but don't want to wear my usual boring ponytail.
Enter in the rafflecopter below for the chance to win one of these pretty pins! Sorry but this is US only, and be sure to read the terms and conditions!

As free as a bird, as neat as a word

Hello Lovelies!

About a month ago, I won a stamping plate of my choice from Beautometry from Newsie Nail Novice's blogiversary giveaway.
I chose Messy Mansion plate MM-14, it's my first Messy Mansion plate too!

Since I have my new peel off base coat, I went crazy with the glitter; I used three coats of Color Club Savoy Nights. I love this bird cage stamp, they got a little wavy when I stamped them, but they're still pretty cute!

The accent nails are two coats of China Glaze Oxygen, it's an off white creme that has brownish undertones. I was surprised that I got away with only two coats, usually China Glaze's whites and nudes are really sheer. I stamped with Sinful Colors Black On Black, I've almost gone through this bottle, I'll have to get a new one soon!

China Glaze Japanese Koi (a.k.a holy cow that's orange)

Hello Lovelies!

This has to be the brightest polish I've ever worn, while I was digging through the clearance at Sally's the neon bottle popped out at me from way back in the messy rack, and I snagged it along with the rest of my haul.
I used a base of Wet n Wild Wild Shine French White Creme as "undies" and then went with two coats of China Glaze Japanese Koi plus topcoat.

If it's even possible this polish is way brighter irl, it was pretty overcast when I took these pics. I now understand the neon craze, this is very fun to wear out and about! It has great wear time so far too, I'm on day four and not a chip to be seen!

Arvazallia Argan & Macadamia Oil Hair Line Review

Hello Lovelies!

I have very thick long hair as you might remember from my last hair post, and it gets oily pretty fast so I'm always on the hunt for the perfect shampoo that'll work for me. I was offered some of Arvazallia's (that's a mouthful isn't it?) hair line to try out, and at first I was kinda iffy since the whole line is infused with argan and macadamia oils, because why add more oil to my already oily prone hair?
But I decided to give them a spin because I keep hearing all sorts of wonderful things about using argan oil to moisturize your hair.

I've started off by using the shampoo and conditioner together by themselves for a couple days, I was hoping that they would have a macadamia scent to them (macadamia is up there with almond in my favorite scents), but they both have a very faint soapy smell to them, nothing nutty whatsoever.
Which is nice if you want to use just one with your regular shampoo or conditioner, having two different strongly scented products can leave your hair smelling kinda funky.
I love the shampoo, you know how most shampoos say "use a quarter sized amount for your hair"? Well I can actually do that with this, which really surprised me! It suds up very nicely and leaves my hair feeling super clean.
A little conditioner goes a long way too, but it doesn't leave my hair feeling heavy or weighed down. I started using one of Lush's shampoo bars a couple weeks ago and since they're very clarifying I love using this conditioner to put the moisture back into my hair.

Now the Argan Oil Hair Treatment smells heavenly, love that macadamia scent. Using it after the conditioner seemed like a little overkill to me, so I use this just after shampooing. It comes in a nice little glass jar with a pump, the color reminds me a bit of popcorn kernel oil though, haha. And totally unrelated to my hair, but after I finished working this through my damp hair, it left my hands feeling crazy soft and moisturized.

And finally the hair mask! This is their Hydrating Argan Oil Mask, the packaging recommends you to use it after roughly towel drying your hair in place of conditioner, and letting it sit in your hair for around seven minutes before rinsing it out. It's a very thick mask, so I used quite a small dab of it, and I applied it to my hair starting chin down because of my oily roots. It left my hair incredibly sleek and moisturized, but again like the conditioner not weighed down at all.
I've linked each product where I mentioned it if you wanna check their pages out, have you ever tried any hair products like these before?
