Floral stamping with Color Club Over The Moon & Chelsea Girl

Hello Lovelies!

I wanted to keep these nails on just a tad bit longer, so added some floral stamping to spice things up! In retrospect I should of used a darker blue for the stamping, but I do like the subtleness of it.

My base is Color Club Over The Moon from the Halo Hues collection with an accent nail of Sinful Colors Nail Junkie. Then I stamped the holo nails with Color Club Chelsea Girl and BM-404. I topcoated everything with my usual; Wet n Wild Wild Shine Clear Nail Protector.

I lost my cleanup brush about a week ago (I use the e.l.f concealer brush), and I've been un-happily using a dinky little old brush for cleanup. I was looking for a book this morning and found the brush under an armchair all covered in dust bunnies. Why is it you can only find things while looking for something else entirely? But I'm glad I found the silly thing!

Swatch Sunday Color Club Over The Moon

Hello Lovelies!

I swear the minute I reached for a holo polish, the sun went behind a cloud. It had been clear and sunny as can be all day, and then the minute I went out to take pictures a pack of clouds rolled in.
So I was running in and out waiting for the sun to peek out for about half an hour to capture the full gorgeousness of Color Club Over The Moon.

I snapped a couple pics in the two minutes of sunshine I was able snag, but they don't show off the full holographic deliciousness of the polish. I went with two coats of Over The Moon, and my accent nail is three coats of  Sinful Colors Nail Junkie; this is without topcoat.

NYC Strip Me Off Peel Off Base Coat Review

Hello Lovelies!

I was finally able to get my hands on NCY's peel off base coat! I've been seeing it all over the European beauty blogs for at least a year, and couldn't wait for it to hit the states. It's been in the states awhile, but I only just found it in my local walmart a couple days ago.
I tried it out with a couple different types of polishes, and I found that it works the best with thicker layers of polish. It does work with cremes, but since the polish is so thin, when you peel it off it comes off in little flakes instead of one piece. It does a bit better with shimmers like this polish, but not much.
It does great with thick layers of polish, I used it on a glitter sandwich and I was able to peel off each nail in one piece. I haven't tried doing a 100% glitter nail, but I'm pretty sure it would work beautifully.

The one downside is it takes quite a while to dry, ten minutes at least. So I'll use it for glitter manis that'd be a pain to take off with normal polish remover, but I wouldn't use it with cremes or shimmers, because it'd be faster to just take them off the traditional way. But this would be nice for taking on vacations so you can switch your polish without having to break out the remover and cottonballs.
It doesn't have a smell, and I've heard that it's basically just elmers glue in a nail polish bottle, but honestly I'll spend the two bucks to have it in a bottle and premixed. I've never been able to get my glue and water ratio down, so I think I'll stick to this just because I'm lazy, haha.

Thanks for visiting with me! Have you ever tried out a peel off base coat before? Or do you prefer using regular polish remover?

All that glitters isn't gold

Hello Lovelies!

I've been wanting to do a full set of nails with OPI Oy-Another Polish Joke ever since I did my St. Patrick's nails, so I went with some tribal stamping to really show off this fantastic gold to it's full potential!

I got a little messy with my application since this polish takes 3-4 coats for full opacity; this is a tough one to clean up so I had leftover shimmers all around the nail, haha. I stamped with my go-to black creme, Sinful Colors Black On Black with BM-402.

I'm still getting the hang of using my new squishy stamper so each nail looks a little different, somehow I got different levels of opacity every time I stamped, I'll get better with practice hopefully!

Kiki's Delivery Service

Hello Lovelies!

I got Kiki's Delivery Service on dvd a couple days ago, and it reminded me how much I love the movie. I painted Kiki and Jiji peeking up from the tips of my nails, and turnip head on my thumb, he's always been one of my favorites.

I started with a gradient of Maybelline Color Show Cool Canary, Color Club Age Of Aquarius, and Essie Mint Candy Apple. Then I layered some glitters over the top, and freehanded Kiki and the rest over the top with acrylic paint and polish. I topcoated it all with Wet n Wild Wild Shine Clear Nail Protector.

Thanks for visiting with me! Have you ever seen any of the Studio Ghibli movies?

Polishes that I want because of the name

Hello Lovelies!

Awhile ago I wrote a post about polishes I'd bought just for the name, and now I'm listing off the ones I want but don't yet have!

OPI Denmarks The Spot
OPI Nein! Nein! Nein! OK Fine! (this one is funny to me for some reason, haha)

Pretty & Polished Black Is The New Orange
Pretty & Polished Ninjas Hate Crunchy Leaves
Pretty & Polished Back To The Fuchsia

LVX Prussian (purely because of hetalia)

Nerd Lacquer I Think You Call Me...Sexy

I want about 99% of Fandom Cosmetics polishes, but I was able to narrow it down to these:

Wonderflonium inspired by Dr. Horrible's Singalong Blog,
Sudden But Inevitable Betrayal inspired by Firefly,
Cunnning Hat: also Firefly,
Dangers Untold and You Have No Power Over Me, both inspired by Labyrinth,
Rumbelle, I'm not a huge Once Upon A Time fan, but this polish is too pretty to pass up,
Broken Chameleon Circuit, because DW makes everything better.
Dean's Baby, it's a gorgeous charcoal with shimmers and tons of glitters,
Bandersnatch Cumberhands and What Is Air because I spend far too much time on Tumblr,
'Ello Poppet, inspired by POTC,

Thanks for visiting with me! What polishes are you drooling over because of punny names or fandom references?

St. Patrick's Day with OPI Oy-Another Polish Joke!

Hello Lovelies!

Our lovely internet decided to go out for the brunt of the day, so I'm just now getting to show you the nails I wore for St. Patrick's today! I painted these late last night so I went with something simple, mint green and gold stamped shamrocks!

This gorgeous gold foil polish is OPI Oy-Another Polish Joke!, it took three coats to get to full opacity, but it's so worth it. It's a warm gold if that makes sense, kinda like a gold version of mustard yellow?
I'm going to have to do a full set of nails with it, I actually got it months ago at Ulta in the clearance bin for the funny name.

The mint green is Sally Hansen Insta-Dry Jade Jump, and I stamped the shamrocks over it with e.l.f Pot Of Gold. I didn't even notice the name of the e.l.f polish until now, that gave me a laugh, haha.
I stamped with plates W105 and BM03, then topcoated with Wet n Wild Clear Nail Protector.

Thanks for visiting with me! Did you paint any fun nail art for today?

Got that music in my mind, saying it's gonna be alright

Hello Lovelies!

This is one of those manis that start out as something, fail, and then I end up salvaging it into something totally different. I was originally trying to do a stamped half moon design, but the image I used was way too big. So I turned it into this weathered music note swirly concoction.

I started off with China Glaze In A Lily Bit as my base and then I stamped with Orly Star of Bombay and Pueen 62.
Do you ever have manis that go in a completely different direction than you were expecting?

Textured Watermelon Nail Art Tutorial

Hello Lovelies!

I'm trying to use my textured polishes more, and I came up with this watermelon design! I started off with a base of Sally Hansen Sugar Coat Pink Sprinkle, and then I went in and added the green rind. Then I just used a small brush and Wet n Wild Wild Shine Black Creme to add the seeds. I would've killed to use topcoat to smooth out the rind, but that would defeat the purpose of using a textured polish.
Maybe using a matte drying polish wasn't the best of decisions...

I finally got a good camera setup going, so I filmed a quick little tutorial on how to create these nails! You don't have to use a texture polish, this would look just as cute in cremes or shimmers!

Would you lovelies like to see more tutorials like this? Let me know!

Lightbulb!

Hello Lovelies!

I haven't done anything with my holographics in ages, so I pulled out on of my untrieds, Color Club Beyond. Beyond is a charcoal grey linear holographic, it's opaque in almost one coat, and it stamps too!
I stamped with Beyond on my ring finger, and I stamped over it on the rest of my nails with Essie Mind Your Mittens.

In direct sun Beyond looks more like a navy blue, but it might just be picking that up from the other polish. I really love this one, it looks like a sedate and subtle polish inside, and then outside in the sun, boom!
The stamping was done with BM-409, I thought this fun lightbulb print looked neat as a holo.

I'm blue da ba dee da ba die...

Hello Lovelies!

I lost my squishy stamper two months ago, and after turning everything in the house upside down and it still not turning up, I ordered a replacement, which just got here! My Konad stamper just doesn't cut it with a lot of my more delicate stamping plates so I'm very excited to get back to stamping using my new Bundle Monster plates.

This is one of my all time favorite blue polishes, it's Sally Hansen Sugar Coat Razzleberry. It's such a vibrant cobalt blue, it's even brighter irl, believe it or not. I stamped a steampunk gear pattern over it with Essie Merci Boku and BM-415. It's a little tricky stamping over textured polishes, small pieces of the stamp don't adhere so I had to carefully press down on the nail to get them all the way onto the nail.

My accent nail is two coats of Color Club Savoy Nights layered over Poppy Dear Evelyn, then I matted it because I thought a shiny finish would draw away from all the textured craziness I have going on.

I'm giving my toes more love, (and why you should too!)

Hello Lovelies!

I'm absolutely horrible at keeping my toes pretty and polished, even though I do my nails a couple times a week, I'll do my toes maybe once a month, sometimes I go longer between polishes. It's mostly because it's a pain to get into yoga-like positions just to paint them, and since my pinkie toenails are so tiny, I usually have a ton of cleanup afterward.
But I was bored a couple nights ago, and instead of my usual plain color change I added some polka dots, I even squeezed some onto my tinier nails. I really like having these peek out of heels, or while wearing flip flops, and it got me thinking about toenail art.

I've started to post more on Instagram, and I hesitated before uploading a pic of my newly polished toes. I rarely ever see pics of toenail art, and when I do people tend to put a disclaimer at the top saying, "Warning toes ahead!" I've never understood why people have this weird taboo about posting pics of toes, unless it's either a tiny baby's nails, or in teen magazines with perfectly tanned and pedicured girls.
My pinkie toes do curl in kind of strangely, but I've never thought they would gross out someone. Fingers and nails come in all shapes and sizes, long, skinny, short, fat, and that's considered perfectly normal, so why not toes too?

I was flipping through these magazines, my mom gave them to me as a belated b-day present, and since they're pretty picture heavy the whole japanese thing wasn't a problem. I've recently really gotten into the styles of japanese nail art, especially the cute girly designs and pastel colors.
As I was flipping through I was really surprised by pages and pages completely devoted to toenail art, and not just polka dots and stripes, full blown intricate and gorgeous designs!

These models don't have picture perfect feet, there are lots of different shapes of feet here. I'm planning on trying some of these designs, I spend hours on my nails, why not spend a little time on my toes too?
I would  love to hear your thoughts about this, do you want to see more toenail art out there, or would you rather not see them at all?

Thanks for visiting!

Mini Posts: Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter Red Velvet swatches & review

Hello Lovelies!

I'm notoriously awful at keeping lipstick on, so I mostly stick to my eos lipbalms. But sometimes I think, "This is a red lipstick day", and this is my new favorite to grab.
This is Revlon Color Burst Lip Butters in the shade Red Velvet, it's a dark cherry red that I've been wearing layered over untinted lipbalms. It's super creamy and doesn't dry your lips out, but since it's so balmy it doesn't have very good lasting power.
Dry lips annoy me more than touching up lipstick so this was a good match for me, and finding it for three bucks at big lots was the cherry on top :)

Whenever you're sad, just remember that it's the Dementors' fault and it's perfectly okay to eat lots of chocolate

Hello Lovelies!

I think these nails go to prove that I will turn absolutely anything into a nail design, I picked up some scrumptious truffles shaped like marbles a while ago and they were begging me to do some nails inspired by them.
I started off with a base of the perfect shade of melty chocolate, e.l.f Smoky Brown. Then I used a dry sponge with hardly any polish on it to speckle each color onto my nails, I used around three shades for each nail.

I went a little overboard on a couple nails and completely covered the brown, so I went back in with the sponge and lightly dabbed some more brown over the top.

The blue thumbnail is my favorite of the bunch, but if we're talking about the truffles themselves, the pink raspberry is my pick :)

Polishes I used:

Wet n Wild Megalast Candy-Licious,
Wet n Wild Wild Shine Lavender Pearlescent,
Wet n Wild Wild Shine French White Creme,
Wet n Wild Megalast I Need A Refresh-Mint,
NYC Heat Wave,
Jordana Boy Oh Boy,
Orly Razzle,
L.A Colors Color Craze Hottie,
China Glaze Def Defying,
Color Club Age Of Aquarius,
Maybelline Color Show Cool Canary,
Sinful Colors Innocent (strange name for a puce green),
and Wet n Wild Wild Shine Clear Nail Protector.
