Wet n Wild Prep & Prime Set review

Hello Lovelies!

On my quest for cheap Christmas beauty clearance-ness, I found this Wet n Wild set that I'd never seen before. No it wasn't on sale, but it was the next to last one and looked like something they'd just have for the holidays, so I took a gamble on it.

I got this from Walgreens for 4.99, it comes with Coverall Primer and a Coverall Correcting Palette. The primer is in a little plastic tube with a screw off lid, and it has a slightly thick lotion-esque consistency. It dries pretty fast after you put it on, it didn't seem to do much for fine lines or reducing pore size, but it gave my skin a semi-matte finish and smoothed out my complexion. My foundation went on smoother while using this which was the main thing I wanted out of it, and it stayed put as well.

The color correcting palette comes in a hard plastic case with a screw off lid, on the back of the container it says which colors to use for what (green for covering redness, yellow for purple, etc) which I found very helpful. I used my fingers for this since it comes out as a cream and dries to a powder finish on the skin. I was happy with all the shades except the white. The white one has a very shimmery almost glittery finish that I didn't care for, a little shimmer is ok but not this much! The packaging says to use it as a highlighter but I think it's a tad strong for that, maybe as a brow bone highlight? Anyways, this did help balance out some of the redness on my face, and the yellow is great for dark circles. The one con of this is if you have really dry skin it does highlight that, but if you moisturizer before starting your makeup routine it'll be fine.

This is a great duo for the price, I recommend picking it up!

You're a mean one, Mr. Grinch

Hello Lovelies!

First off, wow this polish is bright! And these pics were taken while it was very overcast so this doesn't show the neon factor 100%.
This is Color Club Glitter Envy, it's a neon lime green creme with holographic micro glitters. This is two coats, it went on really easily and surprised me by coming off just as easily, usually glittery polishes like this are a bit of a pain to get off. Since this is a pretty Grinch-y green I wore this to Christmas dinner.

I stamped over it with Lotus Herbals Colour Dew Deep Sea and Pueen 56. I took ages trying to pick a color to go with this green, it's a hard one to pair off!

Color Club Creme & Glitter Topper Swatches

Hello Lovelies!

I have a bunch of Color Club swatches for you today! Usually I'd start off with the cremes, but these glitters are just so gorgeous!

Go-Go Green is a glitter topper with white, lime green, and aqua hex glitters and aqua and lime green micro glitters. It's packed with glitters so there is no fishing what so ever, this is one coat and I was trying to go a bit thin with it! Before top coat it's a bit gritty, but it's fine after.

This is Fame & Fortune! I layered it over a bright red creme so it's hard to tell, but this is a berry pink jelly with holographic shard glitters. This is one coat, and I had to dab a bit to get the glitters where I wanted them. The glitters in this don't want to lay flat so I have a couple places on my nail where it wants to snag on things, but I think if I was more persistent with my top coating it would be fine.

And now for the cremes! This is La Petite Mint-Sieur, isn't that a cute name? It's a very pale pastel pistachio green, and I love minty greens like this so I'm very fond of this one! This is three coats with no top coat.

I was happily surprised by this one! Reddy Or Not is a very bright firetruck red, and it's a one coater! I haven't had such a great one coater in forever, and plus when I cleaned up around my cuticles it didn't bleed like bright reds tend to do. And it has a nice glossy finish so this would be a great polish if you're just trying to do some quick nails before you head out. This is with no top coat.

Blue to purple gradient with snowflakes

Hello Lovelies!

Quick post today, I was in a purple mood the other day so I whipped up this pastel gradient and then freehanded some snowflakes on top! I started with a base of NYC In A New York Color Minute Robin's Egg Blue, and then I created a gradient with Revlon Cloud,  Wet n Wild Megalast Candid Affair, and L.A Colors Color Craze Tropical Breeze.

To soften the gradient I added a super thin coat of EN-VY Funny Bunny, it's a sheer white shimmer. I freehanded the snowflakes with a detail brush and some white acrylic paint and finished it off with topcoat.

Polishes I've bought just because of the name

Hello Lovelies!

A couple days ago Anna from Beauty by Shortylegs did a tag post about the polishes she'd bought purely because of the name, apparently this tag has been floating around on youtube and somehow I never saw it! Anyways I've got quite a few polishes that I've bought just for the name so I figured I'd take a whack at it!

I finally got an X polish for that alphabet challenge I've been wanting to do, I actually got a couple polishes just because of what letter they started with, haha.

I just found Sally Girl XOXO, I was so happy to find it because I've been stalking Ulta for China Glaze X-Ta-Sea for weeks and was starting to despair of ever finding it. But then I found this 99 cent wonder!

I got Revlon Zealous and Urban because I was missing Z and U as well, Zealous is a shimmery neon lemon lime yellow that I haven't used yet, I don't think I would of ever gotten that one except for the name. Urban is a beautiful blueberry creme, I'm actually wearing it on my toes right now!

The last polish I got to fill in my missing letters is Revlon Colorstay Gel Envy Queen Of Hearts, finding a Q was almost as hard as the X! I've only worn this one once, but I was amazed at it's staying power, it went on my toes for two weeks without chipping!

And now onto the ones with fun names! OPI Viking In A Vinter Vonderland was just too punny to pass up on, and it made my Hetalia side happy :) OPI has a lot of punny polish names, OPI Oy-Another Polish Joke is just the right kind of ironic!

Another polish I got because of country references is Revlon Parfumerie Italian Leather, I actually just swatched that one! The scent was spot on, a mix of old leather and new car smell.

Wet n Wild usually has pretty passe names, but I've stumbled on a few clever ones like Wet n Wild Fast Dry Buffy The Violet Slayer and Wet n Wild Megalast Disturbia. I did some nail art with the little "Grr Argh" monster from the ending credits with Buffy The Violet Slayer.

And lastly is Color Mates Karen's Got A Gun, I got that one from the Dollar Tree! I've only seen Color Mates at the Dollar Tree, and I never see anything about them online but they're actually quite decent polishes, this one is a really pretty dusty olive green creme, I did some tomboy nail art with it here.

So that's all my name driven polish purchases! I'm actually surprised at how few they are, this is one of the times I'm glad I mad my stash page, going through all my polishes IRL looking for funny names would've been a pain! I'm planning on doing another post about polishes I've been wanting because of their names, be expecting a bunch of Pretty & Polished ones! If you decide to do a tag post like this, comment with a link to it so I can check it out!

Pastel flower silhouettes

Hello Lovelies!

I've had the idea for this mani knocking around in my brain for a couple days, and it actually turned out the way I pictured it!
Believe it or not there's a gradient hiding in there, before I added the black detailing it was more apparent, but somehow the stripes hid it.

I think the curved stripes make my nails look really long, they are long to begin with, but the curves accentuate it nicely. I started with a base of Essie Ballet Slippers, and then I made the non-existent gradient with Wet n Wild Wild Shine Tickled Pink and Essence Colour & Go Modern Romance. The black is Sinful Colors Black On Black.

Candy Cane Dipped French Tips

Hello Lovelies!

I recently discovered how amazing candy canes + hot chocolate is, so I've tipped my nails with them as well! I started off with a base of Wet n Wild Megalast Sugar Coat and a coat of an unnamed holographic glitter topper from Deb and let that dry before starting on the french tips.

I freehanded white french tips with acrylic paint and a detail brush, then I added the red stripes in Ulta Let The Flames Begin. I was going to leave it at that but then I decided last minute to add the black line separating the french tip and the rest of the nail, I used Color Mates Nail Art Black for that.

Revlon Parfumerie Pink Pineapple & Italian Leather Swatches

Hello Lovelies!

Walgreens has an awesome sale on Revlon nail polish right now, I was able to snag seven of the Parfumerie polishes for 99 cents each! These are my first scented nail polishes, so I swatched up two of them right away.

This is Revlon Parfumerie Pink Pineapple, it's a very light pastel pink creme, and the scent screams pineapple. I noticed a little bubbling, but that's probably because I had to use four coats to get full opacity since this is such a pale pink. The scent was just as strong on day two, I suspect it would keep going but I took them off pretty quick because I wasn't wild about the scent. I'm not a big fan of pineapple, but to someone else it would be a very pleasant scent on your nails.

And this is Italian Leather! It's a dusty dark olive green with a faint golden shimmer, but it's definitely a creme through and through. I was surprised by the scent of this one, it a mix of new car smell and old leather, I really liked this one! It doesn't have as strong of a fragrance as Pink Pineapple, but I liked that about it. Both of these swatches are without topcoat because I thought that would cover up the smell, I'll be experimenting with that when I swatch some of the other Parfumerie polishes I bought.

I'm going to hug him, and squeeze him, and call him George

Hello Lovelies!

I have an abominable tutorial for you today! Before you start wondering, no I didn't cut my nails short, these are actually from last year and ended up not getting posted. I suppose these are vaguely Christmas themed, well at least wintery! I've always loved the abominable snowman from Looney Tunes so these nails were a ton of fun to do.

A Fantastiversary!

Hello Lovelies!

Aliquid Lacquer is having a contest for the anniversary of her indie polish brand, and this is my entry! The logo of the brand is a dog, so I stamped a little dog on my ring finger underneath a big number one, since this is their first anniversary. And in the rules it said the more glam the better so I used Maybelline Color Show Brocade Beaming Blue, and then I stamped some galaxy stars over it.

The stamping was done with Pueen 60, Wistonia W101, and Shany SH08. The black and white stamping was done with Sinful Colors Black On Black and Snow Me White.

Maybelline Color Show Brocades Crushed Crimson

Hello Lovelies!

I'm loving these subtle Christmas looks of mine! This is Maybelline Color Show Crushed Crimson, it's a shimmery glitter bomb with red and gold hex glitters in all shapes and sizes. I stamped over it with Sinful Colors Black On Black and Pueen 70.

I have another of the Brocade polishes that I'm probably going to try out soon, it's a silver and blue version of this one. And since all glitters look better matted, I used my trusty NYC Matte Me Crazy to finish off these nails.
