Orange you glad I didn't say banana?

Hello Lovelies!

It's the very last day of the OMD2 challenge! I succeeded in only missing one post of this 31 day adventure, and as usual with these lengthy challenges, this has helped my nail art skills a bit with all the different themes. The last theme is your signature style. As with most aspects of my life, my style is pretty eclectic, I'll be wearing an goth looking dress with bones galore one day, and a preppy floral sundress the next, complete with bright pink lipstick!
So I decided to go with one of my untried polishes, I bought this because of the unique color that grabbed my attention, so I thought this would give you a glimpse into what makes me go "oooh!".

This is three coats of Covergirl Outlast Glosstinis inferno, it's a super shimmery coppery gold polish that almost a duochrome, but not quite. It was pretty finicky and streaky on the first two coats, but the third balanced it out nicely. Since it was so streaky I got a bit messy in application and had to do more clean up than usual, since it's a shimmer based polish I was expecting it be a pain in getting off my skin, but surprisingly it was really easy. I stamped on top of Inferno with Pueen plate 54 and Color Club by design, by design is a dark creamy plum that went fantastically with the copper/gold tones of my base.

As you can see I have more pictures than usual in this post, I had perfect lighting and since this is such a gorgeous polish I took about half a dozen that I had to pick through!

Nanananana bat nails!

Hello Lovelies!

Today's theme in the OMD2 challenge is inspired by fashion! These were inspired by this polka dot bat ring I found on etsy, because I will take any chance I can to do anything bat related.

I started with two coats of Essence colour & go peach and creme, it's a light peachy pink in real life, but whenever I try to photograph it, no matter what lighting I use, it turns out a weird dull orange. I outlined the bats in Wet n Wild megalast I need a refresh-mint, and then filled them in, the eyes, mouths, and polka dots were all done with white acrylic paint. And lastly I added a coat of Nicole by OPI sweet dreams, which might of been a bit overkill since I had polka dots already, but I like it!

If I was a rich girl

Hello Lovelies!

It's day 29 of the OMD2 challenge and today's theme is national pride! Some Fed-Shreds recently came into my possession, and what's more american than our money?

As you can see they shred the money into confetti like pieces so after starting with a base of Rimmel London camouflage I stuck a bunch of pieces on my still wet nails. I think these take the cake as my weirdest nails to date, but seriously what else could you do with this stuff?

I applied a coat of topcoat over the money shreds, but I couldn't quite get all of them to lay totally flat, so this is more of novelty mani for me and will probably come off tomorrow (as you probably know I just can't deal with 3-D stuff on my nails).

OMD2 Candid Affair french tips

Hello Lovelies!

It's day 28 of the OMD2 challenge (wow we're that far through already?), and today's theme is bridal! Since bridal is a kind of vague theme, I went with my gut on what to do, I tried to stay simple and went with a pastel/white french tip design.

My base color is Wet n Wild megalast candid affair, candid affair is a polish from the limited edition Spring 2014 lineup from Wet n Wild, so if you're planning on snagging it, I suggest you act quickly! Candid affair was the usual 1.99 that all of the megalast polishes are, it has a dusty lavender chrome finish, and this is three coats. If I had let this completely dry in between coats I could of probably skid by on only two coats.
I freehanded the french tips with white acrylic paint and then lined and dotted them with NYC in a new york color minute sidewalkers.

If nautical nonsense be something you wish

Hello Lovelies!

So yeah these are pretty weird, they went through several stages to achieve this mish mash of marine colors, today's theme in the OMD2 challenge is nautical and this is the thing my brain spat out after failing at stamping some crabs.

Surprisingly I only used six polishes in this, it looks like a lot more than that to me. The story I'm going with is that these were inspired by those tangles of rope and fishing debris you see while walking on the beach. They're not that bad right?

Polishes I used:

Wet n Wild wild shine clear nail protector and blazed,
Lotus Herbals colour dew deep sea,
L.A colors art deco dark blue and sea foam green,
Ulta let the flames begin,
Color Mates nail art teal,
and a striping brush.

OMD2 black and white roses

Hello Lovelies!

It's day 25 of the OMD2 challenge and today's theme is roses! These didn't come out quite like I hoped, I can never get black and white designs to not bleed, but I didn't have time to redo them so this is what I ended up with. I started with a base of NYC black lace creme and then I stamped with Pueen plate 64 and Konad white, the white polish is was caused the smearing, it's great for stamping and picks up all the small details of an image, but it just smears no matter what.

So far I haven't had problems with coming up with manis to go with the themes in the OMD2, but I'm a bit stumped for tomorrow's theme, it's outdoors. Any suggestions?

OMD2 grapefruit gradients

Hello Lovelies!

It's day 24 of the OMD2 challenge and today's theme is fruit! I used one of my favorite Wistonia plates for this; W118. I love this one because it could be oranges, lemons, or grapefruit, so I'm able to use it in a lot of different ways!

I went with the grapefruit path today, I started with a base of Wet n Wild wild shine french creme and then used a sponge to apply a gradient, I used Wet n Wild megalast candy-licious, Wet n Wild wild shine blazed, and Essence colour & go modern romance for that. The stamping was done with Konad white, and then I just finished with a coat of Wet n Wild wild shine clear nail protector.

I feel like gradients add so much more to stamping, and I love how you can take three colors that look like they clash horribly, and make a beautiful gradient out of them.

OMD2 stripy skittles

Hello Lovelies!

It's day 23 of the OMD2 challenge and today's theme is negative space! I recently bought some striping tape and this is my first time using it, I made the mistake of using a fast drying polish so my lines aren't quite as crisp as I hoped they would be, but I'm still pretty happy with these!

I couldn't decide what design I wanted to go with, so I ended up doing a skittle mani, I used Color Mates nail art black and an unnamed RueBeaute! layer polish for this, after removing the striping tape I finished off with a coat of Wet n Wild Wild Shine clear nail protector. Nailside has a ton of tutorials for nail art with striping time, I might give some of those a try in the near future!

OMD2 gilbird and pierre nails

Hello Lovelies!

Today's theme in the OMD2 challenge is feathers! I decided to do some nail art for Hetalia,  my ring finger is Gilbird a chick that belongs to Prussia and my middle is Pierre a bird that France uses as a type of messenger pigeon.

I started with two coats of Wet n Wild Wild Shine french white creme and then stamped the feathers with Essence colour & go little miss sunrise and BM15. Both birds were done with a striping brush, I used Wet n Wild Wild Shine black creme to outline them and a dotting tool for the eyes. I used a lighter yellow for Gilbird, Wet n Wild fergie ferga-colada, and then I used little miss sunshine for both bird's beaks.

OMD2 shark skin nails

Hello Lovelies!

It's day 21 of the OMD2 and today's theme is animal print! Even though shark week doesn't start until August, the commercials are already running full blast so I did some shark nail art today!

I used Sally Hansen Sugar Coat razzleberry on most of my nails since shark skin is supposed to feel like sandpaper, so I thought the textured finish was appropriate!  The base of my accent nail is L.A Colors color craze sea siren and then I stamped a shark with Konad M27 and Konad white. And finally I topcoated the accent nail with Wet n Wild Wild Shine clear nail protector. I really love these animal print themes because they help me think of some of my more out there nail art, although these make my last ones look tame in comparison!

And I finally have a mani for Monday Blues so I'm linking up there too!

OMD2 day 20 Hard Candy sweet tooth

Hello Lovelies!

It's day 20 of the OMD2 and today's theme is chevrons! I experimented with this one a bit, I took a full nail stamping image, and instead of stamping like I normally would I only used the corner to get those crisp edges for my chevron. But I used a patterned image so the triangle shape wasn't clear enough, so I ended up outlining it in the same polish I used to stamp.

My base is Hard Candy sweet tooth, I either used four or five coats of this, this layers up nicely but it's quite a thin polish so it does take a while to build up opacity. Then I stamped with BM10 and Orly star of bombay. I've been using an old credit card to scrape my plates for almost the last year and haven't touched my Konad scraper in ages. But I decided to use it for my last three manis and it really does work easier and make crisper images for me to pick up, I'm can't really remember why I stopped using it in the first place. Maybe because it's a pain to clean afterwards?
Anyways, after stamping with star of bombay I outlined that in the same polish to make the chevrons more apparent. Then I just finished off with a coat of Wet n Wild Wild Shine clear nail protector.

OMD2 candy-licous with metallic venom

Hello Lovelies!

Today's theme in the OMD2 is ombre! I actually almost messed these up royally, when I saw ombre I went "oh just a gradient ok", but then I remembered that ombre is shades all graduating in one tone, and thankfully I remembered that before any polish got on the nails.

I started off with a base of Wet n Wild megalast candy-licious, the gradient was done with NYC in a new york color minute MoMa and Color Mates metallic venom (weird polish name, right?). After that dried a bit, I stamped with Pueen plate 65 and Konad white, since the plate design is so big I was able to make each nail look a bit different which is nice. Somehow I managed not to smear my stamping when I added a coat of Wet n Wild Wild Shine clear nail protector, Konad white is usually horrible at staying in place.

Lexington yellow dotticure

Hello Lovelies!

It's day 18 of the OMD2 and today's theme is dotticure! I went simple with some stamping for these nails, I started off with a base of NYC in a new york color minute lexington yellow, LY is a creamy almost pastel yellow that's opaque in two coats and it dries fairly quick. It's a much paler yellow in real life, but I was taking pictures right before sunset so it turned out looking pretty bright.

Then I stamped with Jordana boy oh boy which is another cream polish, and Pueen plate 55. I was originally going to stamp with Wet n Wild megalast I need a refresh-mint, but that turned out to be a bust so I scrapped that and switched to boy oh boy.

OMD2 day 17 galaxy nails

Hello Lovelies!

It's day 17 of the OMD2 challenge and today's theme is galaxy! My galaxy nails usually all turn out looking more or less the same so I wanted to go with something a bit different for these nails. I started with two coats of Black Heart Beauty holo lv stck and then added a coat of Nicole by OPI sweet dreams to add some sparkle.

I stamped the stars with Pueen plate 61 and Wet n Wild Wild Shine french white creme, I have been using Konad's white stamping polish forever but it's a very finicky polish and tends to smear. If any of you have any recommendations of reliable white polishes for stamping, I love to hear them!

OMD2 day 16 placed glitter

Hello Lovelies!

Today's theme in the OMD2 challenge is placed glitter! I actually haven't ever done anything with placed glitter, so this was the first time I've gotten to play with it! I started with two coats of NYC in a new york minute sidewalkers and then stamped with Shany plate SH25 and Wet n Wild Wild Shine black creme.

The glitters are from a set of nail art stuff I snagged from the dollar tree, I wasn't sure at first if the greenish yellow would look ok with my black and gray, but I really love the outcome!

OMD2 abstract doodles

Hello Lovelies!

Today's theme in the OMD2 challenge is abstract! I pretty much winged it this time, I wasn't coming up with any ideas at all, so I started with a saran wrap base of Wet n Wild megalast candy-licious and Essence colour & go peaches and cream and then just doodled away!

I used black acrylic paint since that was the closest thing to hand, I think my thumb came out the best, sort of like abstract fingerprints?
Well I nailed the abstract theme, but I'm not sure if this was a successful design, I don't get any strong feeling of like or dislike from it.

OMD2 cherry skull funky french tips

Hello Lovelies!

I'm pretty late posting today, it's been in the high eighties this last week and heat + sluggish me doesn't usually equal me getting nail art done early in the day. Anyways, today's theme in the OMD2 challenge is funky french! I've been dying to try out this tutorial by PinkFlyingCow87, but it's a pretty weird design so I haven't been able to try it out until now!

I used Essence colour & go peaches and cream for the base of the french tips, and I started with two coats of Wet n Wild Wild Shine french white creme for the accent nail. All of the black and white is just acrylic paint, I used a combination of striping brush and dotting tool for all the details.

Other polishes I used:

Wet n Wild Wild Shine blazed,
Pure Ice free spirit,
Wet n Wild megalast candy-licious,
L.A Colors Color Craze sea shell,
and Wet n Wild Wild Shine clear nail protector.

OMD2 blue ikat nails

Hello Lovelies!

It's day 13 of the OMD2 challenge and today's theme in Ikat! I've only done Ikat nails once before, and I wanted to try using a different pattern this time, I was inspired by this print. I simplified it quite a bit, but I tried to use all the different colors that were in the original.

I started by doing splotches of the darkest blue over each nail and then went around them with all the other blue polishes. With my second darkest polishe I made little tips around each splotch, I used a detail brush for all of that.

Polishes I used:

Wet n Wild wild shine clear nail protector,
Wet n Wild wild shine french white creme,
Orly star of bombay,
Klean Color midnight queen,
Jordana boy oh boy,
NYC in a new york color minute robin's egg blue,
and a striping brush.

OMD2 roses are red...

Hello Lovelies!

Real quick post today you guys! Today's theme in the OMD2 challenge is 3D and I have some studded crosses for the occasion! I was inspired by these nails, and I tweaked the roses a bit but besides that I stayed true to the original design.

Before I started the nail art I took a quick shot of my base polishes, the mint green is NYC in a new york minute robin's egg blue. It shows up leaning to blue in my pictures but it's a really light mint green in real life. And my accent nail is just my usual white polish, Wet n Wild wild shine french white creme.

I used a striping tool for the crosses and roses and a dotting tool for the rosary chain, and for my 3D element I used some rhinestones on the big cross.

Other polishes I used:

Wet n Wild wild shine jezebel,
Color Mates nail art black,
L.A colors art deco silver glitter,
Stop Nail rhinestones,
a dotting tool,
and a detailing brush.
