30DC Hetalia Canada nails

Hi girls!

It's the very last day of the 30DC! This challenge actually went by really fast for me, and I'm so happy with all of the different nail designs it inspired me to do. The last theme is something that makes you happy, and for me one of those things is Hetalia. I've already done a few Hetalia manis, so I decided to do some nails dedicated to one of my favorite characters, Canada.

My thumb is the Canadian flag, my index is a chibi Canada, my middle is his polar bear Kumajiro, my ring is a bottle of maple syrup, and my pinkie says "Who are you?" since Kumajiro is always asking that.

I used a detailing brush for all the details on everything, I'm so happy with Kumajiro's little nose, it's so cute!

Polishes I used:

Wet n wild wild shine clear nail protector,
The Color Workshop base coat,
Wet n wild wild shine french white creme,
Lotus Herbals colour dew copper gold,
black acrylic paint,
Petites color fever vintage gray,
Ulta let the flames begin,
Wet n wild megalast sugar coat,
Lotus Herbals colour dew gold mist,
Wet n wild wild shine metallica,
Color Mates nail art cocoa,
Petites color fever seashell,
EN-VY funny bunny,
Wet n wild megalast candy-licious,
and a detailing brush.

30DC Attack on Titan nails

Hi girls!

Today's theme in the 30DC is inspired by a tv show. I've been wanting to do some Attack on Titan nail art, and I've had photos saved for it on my computer for ages so I had a nail design all lined up for this!

My pinkie nail has the training corps symbol, my ring has the military police symbol, middle is the Garrison symbol, and my index is the survey corps symbol. My thumb says "Sind die Jager" which is a lyric from the theme song.

Polishes I used:

Wet n wild wild shine clear nail protector,
The Color Workshop base coat,
NYC black lace creme,
Wet n wild wild shine french white creme,
NYC Broadway burgundy frost,
black acrylic paint,
Wet n wild megalast violet attack,
Color mates nail art cocoa,
Sally Hansen Insta-dry jumpin' jade,
Petites color fever vintage gray,
and a detail brush.

30DC SNES Addams Family nails

Hi girls!

Today's theme in the 30DC is videogames! I went old school and did some nails inspired by SNES The Addams Family. In the game you play as Gomez Addams and the goal is to rescue all the family members from various baddies. I chose an arrangement of baddies to adorn my nails with, I added some pictures of them below so you can compare them!

My thumb is the bear rug from pic number 1, my index is the green imp looking baddie in number 2, my middle is the baddie that resembles a thumbtack (or at least I think so), from number 4, and my ring is the venus flytrap from number 3. And since there are lots of chains throughout the game I stamped some on my pinkie. And it just so happens that it Monday Blues today too, so I did a pretty good job lining this up!

I used way too many polishes to list here, but if you want to know the name of a specific color, just ask!

30DC & He Picks My Polish three scoops please!

Hi girls!

Today's theme in the 30DC is inspired by a photograph and it's also the first day of He Picks My Polish April! I employed a brother's help again and this time he picked out five shades for me to use.
I actually had to throw three extra polishes in to make something out of this so I ended up using eight different shades for this!

I was inspired by this photo, I used a striping brush to outline and detail the cones, and then I used a dotting tool to do the ice cream scoops and cherries on top. I was surprised I was able to make such a coherent design out of what he chose, a green, a shimmery purple, a pink, a gold, and mocha brown.

Polishes I used:

The Color Workshop base coat,
Wet n wild wild shine clear nail protector,
Pink Ice by RueBeaute!,
Wet n wild megalast candy-licious,
Ulta let the flames begin,
NYC black lace creme,
Lotus herbals colour dew gold mist,
Pure ice free spirit,
The color workshop unnamed,
a detail brush,
and a dotting tool.

30DC Fighting evil by moonlight..

Hi girls!

Today's theme in the 30DC is the 90's! I've been watching a lot of the 90's anime Sailor Moon so this was an easy one to decide on! I used this tutorial by Polish Art Addict, the gif at the end of the post was really helpful. I started with a base of Wet n wild megalast sugar coat, I used a detailing brush for all striping and bows, and I used a extra large dotting tool of the centers of the bows.

I was so happy with how these came out, but I literally scraped all the polish off my thumb twenty minutes after taking pictures, so this mani was pretty short-lived.

Other polishes I used:

Wet n wild wild shine french white creme,
Wet n wild megalast violet attack,
Ulta let the flames begin,
Essence colour & go little miss sunrise,
black acrylic paint,
Wet n wild wild shine clear nail protector,
a dotting tool,
and a detailing brush.

30DC Villains

Hi girls!

Today's theme in the 30DC is Villains! I still have a couple polishes from the Disney Villains by e.l.f collection to swatch, so I took this chance to swatch Gina Girl from the Maleficent trio.
Gina Girl has a dark purple jelly base and tons of different colored/sized glitters, I was able to pick out orange, purple, green, dark pink, and dark purple ones. It was a little fussy to apply and took nearly five coats to get this opacity, but it dries surprisingly quick. In my experience jellies tend to be the slowest to dry.
I actually stamped some crowns in black since I thought they would go with Maleficent, but after trying my hardest I couldn't get them to show up in my photos. If you squint I think you can make out the one on the index nail, haha.

30DC The World is Quiet Here

Hi girls!

Today's theme in the 30DC is inspired by your favorite children's book. It took me quite a while to narrow down all of my favorite children's books, but I finally settled on A Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket. There are thirteen books in the series and I own all but one, they're fantastic for when you want something on the short/light side to throw in your bag for reading later.

My thumb nail has V.F.D, index has Lemony Snicket's initials stamp, my middle has Quigley Quagmire's hot air balloon, my ring has the sugar bowl, and finally my pinkie has the eye that haunts the Baudelaires throughout the series. All of these are linked to pages that explain their backstories so if you want to find out more about them, click away!

Polishes I used:

The Color Workshop base coat,
Wet n wild wild shine clear nail protector,
Wet n wild wild shine french white creme,
Color Club by design,
black acrylic paint,
W117,
and a detail brush.

30DC Abbey Road nails

Hi girls!

Today's theme in the 30DC is to do a mani inspired by a cd/album cover. I don't have many cds so I went with one of the few album covers I can recognize, Abbey Road by The Beatles. I think I might of bitten off more than I could chew with this, the first two guys came out fine but as I went down the line my proportions got more and more off. But I think it's still sort of recognizable right?

I used black acrylic paint over Wet n wild wild shine french creme and then finished with some top coat. I used a detailing brush for all the details on the guys and the lettering on the thumb nail.

30DC some quali-tea nail art

Hi girls!

Today's theme in the 30DC is to match your nails to your drink. I drink a lot of tea so I decided to match my nails to my favorite mug! My base is Hard Candy sweet tooth, I recently snagged it on clearance for half off at wal-mart. Sweet tooth is a really lovely creme based glitter, there are copper, pink, light blue, dark blue, and white glitters in a blue/pink tinted creme base.

I really like Sweet tooth, but it took almost five coats to get this opacity, so that's a bit of a turnoff. I freehanded a mug of tea complete with tea bag on my ring nail, I outlined it in black first and then I filled it in with white, I used a detailing brush for all the details.

I was surprised that I had a polish that worked so well for the tea itself, I drink a lot of black orange spice tea so that dark almost red shade was perfect for this.

Polishes I used:

Wet n wild wild shine clear nail protector,
Wet n wild wild shine french white creme,
black acrylic paint,
Petites color fever vintage gray,
Jesse's Girl center stage,
and a detailing brush.

30DC all hail the glow cloud

Hi girls!

Today's theme in the 30DC is weather! I recently got into Welcome to the Night Vale, it's a podcast about a town in the desert where all the conspiracy theories are true. If you want to listen to it, click here. In the second show Cecil talks about a mysterious glowing cloud that covers the town, and I've been wanting to do something for the show so this was the perfect opportunity!

I started with a purple as close to the one above as I could find for my base and then I sponged a bunch of different purple tinted jellies and glitters over it, it turned into a sort of subtle galaxy look. I used a dotting tool to do the clouds at the base of each nail, but then I lightly sponged them with the same white to get a more airy fluffy texture. I used a detailing brush for the eye logo on the thumb and to letter "Hail the glow cloud" on the rest of the nails.

Polishes I used:

Wet n wild wild shine clear nail protector,
Wet n wild wild shine french white creme,
L.A colors color craze tropical breeze,
NYC in a new york color minute sparkle top coat,
Wet n wild fast dry buffy the violet slayer,
RueBeaute! layered unnamed polish,
Sinful Colors daddy's girl,
black acrylic paint,
a sponge,
a dotting tool,
and a striping brush.

30DC sleepy bunnies

Hi girls!

Happy Easter! Today's theme in the 30DC is also Easter, and I went with a cute sleepy bunny design that was inspired by these nails. I've really been liking asian/kawaii nail designs lately so they'll probably start cropping up here more often! I started with a base of Wet n wild megalast sugar coat instead of doing the bunnies on bare nails since my nails are a little stained at the moment.

I used the bottle brush for the heads, a striping brush for the ears and eyes, and I just finished with the usual top coat.

Other polishes I used:

Wet n wild wild shine clear nail protector,
Wet n wild wild shine tickled pink,
Wet n wild wild shine french white creme,
NYC in a new york color minute lexington yellow,
Color mates little blue box,
Color mates nail art lime,
Wet n wild wild shine black creme,
and a detailing brush.

30DC distressed nails

Hi girls!

Today's theme in the 30DC is distressed! I've never tried this technique before, so I found the original tutorial from Chalkboard Nails to be very helpful. I used pretty much the same color scheme as in the tutorial, and it was very easy to do! I had a black polish that has thickened up quite a bit and I was considering tossing it but it was perfect for doing the dry strokes you need for these. I might just start saving polishes that dry up for distressed nails instead of tossing them out like I usually do!

I started with a base of Wet n wild wild shine french white creme, and my three distressed shades are Wet n wild megalast candy-licious, Wet n wild megalast I need a refresh-mint, and L.A colors color craze tropical breeze. My black almost dried up polish is Wet n wild wild shine black creme, I go through a lot of this polish, I think I've gone through three or four bottles of it!

30DC two shaded floral nails

Hi girls!

Today's theme in the 30DC is flowers/floral print. I tried to use some polishes I haven't used in quite a while in this mani because I've kind of fallen in a rut where I used the same polishes in everything, and it's a shame not to use all of my different colors, because I have a lot of them! I decided to go with a floral print, I stamped it with Wet n wild megalast violet attack over Color Club age of aquarius and Sephora by OPI Lights, Glammera, Action! The stamping plate I used is Shany SH20.

I wasn't sure how Violet attack would stamp since it has a super shimmery base and that sort of polish doesn't usually stamp well, but I was pleasantly surprised by how it turned out.

30DC Wet n Wild cherry gradients

Hi girls!

Today's theme in the 30DC is a brand challenge, we're supposed to use at least three polishes from the same brand in our design. I used all Wet n Wild polishes today to make a gradient, and then I stamped some summery red cherries over it.

My base is French white creme, I created the gradient with Tickled pink and Lavender creme, and I stamped the cherries with Red red (great name right?). The plate I used is Wistonia W118 and I finished it off with a thick coat of top coat to smooth out the gradient.

30DC cheeseburger nails

Hi girls!

Today's theme in the 30DC is food! I don't really have a reason for why I have cheeseburgers on my nails, for some reason that was the first thing I thought of, I did do these before eating so maybe it was my subconscious telling me to hurry up and eat lunch? Anyways, I started with a base of gold for these and then used a striping brush to add everything. I outlined the buns first and then worked from the bottom of the nail up, I used a dotting tool for the sesame seeds on the tops of the buns.

The only thing I didn't outline in black is the lettuce, for some reason I thought it would look better plain.

Polishes I used:

Lakme' fast and fabulous 40" gold caramel,
Ulta let the flames begin,
Essence colour and go little miss sunrise,
RueBeaute! unnamed layered polish,
Color mates nail art cocoa,
Wet n wild wild shine french white creme,
Wet n wild wild shine clear nail protector,
a detailing brush,
and a dotting tool.

30DC splatter nails

Hi girls!

Today's theme in the 30DC is splatter nails! I'm not a huge fan of splatter nails, but I think these are the best I've come up with so far.

I started with a base of Wet n wild wild shine french white creme and then I used a straw to add my splatters, I used five different polishes for the splatters.

Other polishes I used:

Wet n wild wild shine lavender creme,
Wet n wild wild shine bijou blue,
Wet n wild wild shine blazed,
NYC in a new york color minute lexington yellow,
RueBeaute! unnamed layered polish,
Wet n wild wild shine clear nail protector,
and a straw.

30DC Buffy the Vampire Slayer nails

Hi girls!

Sorry I'm a bit late with today's post, my internet has been on the fritz all day and I just got it to work again, fingers crossed it holds on long enough to write this! Today's theme in the 30DC is loose glitter, and even though I totally stretched today's theme to the breaking point tp do these, I'm very happy with what I came up with!

These are Joss Whedon's Buffy the Vampire Slayer inspired nails, and I've been wanting to do these for ages! I did throw in a nail to Angel though, my index is the logo Cordelia made, but the rest of them are buffy-centric! My thumb is the ring Angel gave to Buffy, my middle finger is from the show logo, my ring finger is some "vampire dust" with Mr. Pointy (that's where I threw my loose glitter in), and my pinkie is the Grr Argh monster from the ending credits. This is the first time I've tries using acrylic paint in nail art, I've seen a lot of nail blogs doing it but I just never tried it myself. It actually made some of the more detailed nails easier to paint, I may be including it in more manis in the future! And my gorgeous purple base is Wet n wild fast dry buffy the violet slayer, I just had to use it!

The ring didn't come out quite as clear as I hoped, hands are really hard to paint when they're that small!

Polishes I used:

Wet n wild fast dry buffy the violet slayer,
Wet n wild wild shine metallica,
Lotus herbals colour dew copper gold,
White and black acrylic paint,
The Color Workshop loose glitter,
and Wet n wild wild shine clear nail protector.

30DC mint & gold half moons

Hi girls!

Today's theme in the 30DC is negative space. I pulled out some of my untried polishes for today, my base is Pure Ice home run and the crackle is China Glaze cracked medallion. I used hole re-enforcers for the half moons and outlined them with white acrylic paint and a striping brush.

I picked up the China Glaze at Ulta for 1.80 and I think it was a pretty good buy, it's one of the best crackles I've ever used. I only used two coats of home run, I could of almost gotten away with one if I wasn't doing half moons. It's a very light robins egg blue, I'm a little puzzled by the name because home run makes me think of green grass, but c'est la vie.

30DC black & gold half moons

Hi girls!

First off let me apologize for my sub par photos, I was running late and took these right before running out the door, my camera battery was on the verge of dying, and I managed to really badly smudge them while I was out so I wasn't able to take better ones once I got home. Today's theme in the 30DC is ruffian/half moon/tips, and I went for half moons.

This is my first time using hole re-enforcers to do half moons, I like how crisp my lines came out but I think I'd still rather just freehand them so I don't have to wait around for my base to dry.

Polishes I used:

Wet n wild wild shine clear nail protector,
The Color Workshop gold rush,
NYC black lace cream,
and NYC matte me crazy.

30DC Pop art chevrons

Hi girls!

Today's theme in the 30DC is tape manis! I rarely reach for tape in my nail art, but that mostly because I don't like waiting for my base to dry, I prefer fast freehand or at least being able to start on the next step right away. I went for a pop art chevron design today, the polish I used for my base is Pink ice by Rue21 031.

Then I used tape to add the white chevrons at the top of each nail, and then I just used a dotting tool to do the black dots over the white. I finished it off with a coat of NYC matte me crazy, I've been really liking matted nails the last few weeks!

Other polishes I used:

Wet n wild wild shine french white creme,
Wet n wild wild shine clear nail protector,
and NYC black lace creme.

30DC pink and blue sweets

Hi girls!

Today's theme in the 30DC is gradients! I started with a base of NYC cashmere cream and then started my gradient at the top of the nail, I went blue-pink-white and used seven different shades. I went over the entire nail with a pink glitter topper, it has a pink tinted clear base so it made all the colors really pop.

The stamp I used is W117 and I stamped with Konad white, then I just finished it off with some topcoat. Konad white is a really great stamping polish, it comes out crisp and clean and it almost never smears after topcoating.

Other polishes I used:

Wet n wild wild shine clear nail protector,
Essence nude glam peach and cream,
Wet n wild megalast sugar coat,
The Color Workshop sweet glaze,
Lakme color crush 03,
and The Color Workshop dream world.

30DC melded rainbows

Hi girls!

Today's theme in the 30DC is rainbow and I wanted to do something simple, I think I've done a mani similar to this before but I figured I'd give another whack at it. I started with a base of Wet n wild wild shine french white creme, I go through white really fast, I've almost used up my entire bottle! Anyways, I used six different colors for this (not including my white base), I just brushed streaks of polish next to each other on my stamping plate and scraped like usual. I really like how some of the colors melded with each other, that's the look I was going for and I think I got it!

I used some layered polishes in this too, the purple and blue are layered Ruebeaute! polishes. I think that added a little to the color melding, although not much.

Other polishes I used:

Ulta let the flames begin,
Jordana boy oh boy,
NYC in a new york color minute lexington yellow,
NYC in a new york color minute heat wave,
and SH23.
