Fingers like snakes and spiders in my hair!

Hi girls!

Happy Halloween! I'm so sad October is almost over! I wasn't able to do nearly as many manis as I wanted to, I'm probably going to have Halloween nails in November!  :)

I chose spiderweb nail art for my last hurrah, they didn't come out exactly as I hoped they would because the white polish I used is drying out and on it's last legs, but they are a vast improvement on my last freehand spiderweb mani! I added a thin layer of a glow in the dark glitter topper, maybe I'll be able to see them glowing later tonight! I still haven't been able to figure out how to photograph glow in the dark polishes, hopefully I will at some point!

Polishes I used:

NYC extra shiny topcoat,
Wet n wild fast dry ebony hates chris,
L.A colors art deco white,
Pure ice ?????,
and Claires glow in the dark polish.

Happy (belated) Hetalia Day!

Hi girls!

I live in the middle of nowhere so I wasn't able to attend any of the Hetalia Day meetups Saturday, but I was attending a Halloween party the same day so I decided to cosplay as Hungary!
I've been thinking of doing this for a while so I had most of the outfit pieces already, the coat is an old military coat I thrifted, it was about four sizes too big though so I had to size it down a bit.
I inside-outed the coat and sewed about two inches away from the original seam on the sleeve and then cut off the excess. I found this tutorial useful for figuring out the sleeves.
I wanted to make the body of the jacket smaller too, but I couldn't figure out a clean way to do it without totally deconstructing the jacket so I let it be. But after I adding the belt it actually doesn't look like I'm wearing my dad's coat!

The pants, belt, and frying pan were also thrifted, I already had the boots, and I picked up the leather gloves at an estate sale for five bucks (usually I wouldn't pay that much for a pair of gloves I'll never wear again, but they're vintage leather and fit my hands just right so I had to get them!). I hot-glued a flower onto a oversized barrette, but it only held throughout my photoshoot and half of the party, so I'll have to figure out a stabler way of attaching it.

My lovely mom sewed my Hungarian flag for me, it's on an old curtain dowel and I hot-glued the fabric into place so it won't slide around (I had a lot of fun waving it around!).

Batty for glitter gradients!

Hi guys!

I actually did these almost a week ago, and I thought it would be a good idea to actually get around to posting them before Halloween!
I was in a glittery mood, I think I used five or six different polishes for my gradient! I started with a base of picture polish frosting and added layers of different purple polishes lower and lower down the nail to get a gradient look without having to use a sponge.

Polishes I used:

NYC extra shiny top coat,
picture polish frosting by cupcake cosmetics,
Sinful Colors daddy's girl,
Pure ice ???,
petites Color Fever potion,
Wet n wild fast dry ebony hates chris,
and W116.

Going batty

Hi guys!

I actually have some pink nail art on my nails for Wednesday! I don't think I've been able to do that in at least a month, the 31DC pretty much killed Pink Wednesdays for me for that stretch of time.
Today's nails were inspired by these nails by Spud Nails, I just love her blog name!

Do you ever get a bottle of polish that refuses to open every time you want to use it no matter what? The pink polish I used for this is one of those, after hurting my hands trying to open it I finally gave in and ran it under hot water to loosen up the paint. And I've only used this three or four times!
I freehanded the pink tips with the bottle brush and I used a striping brush for the bats.
I also added some tiny purple eyes with a dotting tool, but I wasn't able to get them to show up in the pictures.

Polishes I used:

NYC extra shiny top coat,
NYC kisses,
Wet n wild wild shine tickled pink,
Wet n wild fast dry ebony hates chris,
L.A colors color craze nuclear energy,
a dotting tool,
and a striping brush.

Pumpkin patches

Hi guys!

My family and I went to a pumpkin patch last Sunday for my little brother's birthday! They had a dark maze (it's a haybale maze but it's inside a blacked out greenhouse so it's pitch black) and most of our visit consisted of me going through it with my brothers so I didn't get that many pictures. But I was able to get some artistic shots of corn stalks against the sky and found some pumpkins to take pictures of my nails with!
Although we probably looked strange while taking them, I wrangled my brother into helping by holding up the pumpkin for me while standing in a field right next to a line of cars waiting to get into the farm, so we probably entertained some of the people waiting!

Polishes I used:

Wet n wild wild shine clear nail protector,
Hard Candy peach pop,
Konad special stamping polish black,
SH02,
and NYC extra shiny top coat.

That could be a little more sonic!

Hi guys!

Sorry I've taken so long to post this, it's been a super busy week for me, but I have lots of new nail art to show you girls and more Halloween goodness so it's all been worth it!

I literally made this the night before my meetup and baked it the morning of, so not a lot of finesse was put into the making of this! I bought a pocket blowgun from Harbor Freight for around three bucks and used that as my base, and I molded sculpey around the base and head of the blowgun to make it longer than it's original five inches. I added a small circle of glow in the dark sculpey to the laser(?) end of the screwdriver since it didn't have anything else laser-like going for it. I freehanded a little blue stripe with a circle in the middle on the handle of the screwdriver with blue nail polish after baking, I haven't seen one with a stripe like that anywhere and I wanted to give mine a unique flair.

These are the nails I wore to the meetup, I knew I wanted something Tardis blue, but I didn't know what else so I just went through my plates and picked something at random. I've finally learned my lesson on using Konad's black stamping polish, I've reached the conclusion that it's completely impossible to use with full nail images because when I clean up the excess it seeps into every nook and cranny of my cuticles it can possibly find and it's just a horrific pain in the neck! Ok, now that I've got that out of my system I'll get onto the actual nails!

Polishes I used:

Wet n wild wild shine clear nail protector,
Wet n wild fast dry teal of fortune,
Konad special stamping polish black (rawr),
SH20,
and NYC extra shiny top coat.

Time and relative dimension in space

Hi guys!

I went to a really fun event hosted by my local library yesterday, a fandom faceoff! The fandoms were Harry Potter, Doctor Who, Supernatural, Sherlock, and MLP. There was a jeopardy style quiz and a costume contest which I just had to participate in!
I went as the T.A.R.D.I.S from Doctor Who, I posted some pictures of the unfinished dress a couple weeks ago here, and I finally finished the dress just a couple days ago.

I sewed all the windows, signs, etc, onto a pre-existing dress I thrifted for around five dollars, I used this tutorial for the placement and design (although I tweaked it a bit). I picked up the galaxy tights at a Wal-Mart, and I made the hair bow myself with this super easy tutorial. I hot glued two bobby pins flat side down on the bottom of the bow so I'd be able to wear it easily, surprisingly it stayed on top of my head all day! Although I forgot I was wearing it a couple times and almost pulled it off while messing with my hair......

I'm planning on another post where I'll explain how I made my DIY sonic screwdriver and what nails I did for my outfit, so look forward to that!

Franken-French mani

Hi guys!

I have a low-key Halloween mani for you girls today, it was inspired by these nails, I really liked the black and orange color combo but was curious to see what would happen if I tried it out in green instead.

So I ended up with this franken-french mani (kinda' catchy aint it?), I freehanded the green tips with the bottle brush and added the white stitches with a striping brush afterwards. I'm thinking I should of used a darker/dingier color for my base, the pink is a little too girly for the look I'm going for.
Maybe I'll try this again but in gray, that would probably look great!

Polishes I used:

Wet n wild wild shine clear nail protector,
Wet n wild megalast sugar coat,
Sally Hansen X-treme wear mint sorbet,
Wet n wild wild shine French white crème,
a striping brush,
and NYC extra shiny top coat.

I always feel like somebody's watching me!

Hi guys!

I went with a very simple mani today, I was trying to do three other things at the same time while painting these, so if I had gone any more complicated they would of probably crashed and burned.
I based these off this mani, I looked high and low but couldn't find the original nail artist, so if anyone happens to know please enlighten me!
I used the largest dotting tool I own to paint the eyes, but they were still too small so I had to swirl the dotting tool around to enlarge the dots to my liking.

Polishes I used:

Wet n wild wild shine clear nail protector,
Wet n wild fast dry ebony hates chris,
NYC French white tip,
NYC in a new York color minute water street blue,
a dotting tool,
and NYC extra shiny top coat.

Oh, somewhere deep inside of these bones

Hi guys!

Today's theme in the 31DC Crumpet nailtarts challenge is to create a mani featuring artwork and your oldest untried polish. I actually only have two polishes I hadn't used yet and one of them was a glitter topper so I went with my only other choice which was a dark creamy Color Club polish.
I used that to stamp some cute skeletons images I haven't used yet, I plan on squeezing as many Halloween nail designs into October as possible!

It's also Monday which means I had to incorporate a blue polish somehow so I used one of my favorite glitters, Revlon whimsical.

Polishes I used:

Wet n wild wild shine clear nail protector,
NYC French white crème,
Color Club by design,
Revlon whimsical,
NYC extra shiny top coat,
and W116.

Allons-y!

Hi guys!

I just wanted to do a quick update on the progress of my Tardis dress, I'm following this tutorial by JadeandStuff. She used iron on letters for the police box banner, but since I don't have any laying around and I'm too lazy to try to find some I think I'm just going to cut some out of white cotton and fuse them to that black strip that hasn't been sewn on yet.
I'm debating on whether I should make a red bow tie necklace out of Sculpey or have an actual bow on my head. What do you guys think?
