Hi guys!

It's the very last day of the #31DC2013! The last challenge is to do a mani honoring a design you love. I chose these nails from the blog Passion or Kinda, I switched up the colors a bit and I really like how they turned out!
I wasn't sure if the two different glitters would mesh, but I think they ended up looking very nice with each other.

I used a striping brush for the black ruffles and a dotting tool for the dots, these were pretty easy to do and only took me about five minutes total which is pretty quick compared to what I usually spend time wise on my nails!

Polishes I used:

Wet n wild wild shine clear nail protector,
Pink Ice 031,
piCture pOlish frosting by cosmetic cupcake,
Wet n wild fast dry ebony hates chris,
and a striping brush.

#31DC2013 Day 30 tutorial nails

Hi guys!

It's the next to last day of the #31DC2013! Today's theme is to do a mani inspired by a tutorial. I picked this tutorial I found from Fundamentally Flawed, it's really easy to do and I think it looks super cute!

I used the bottle brushes for all the colors except white, and I used a nail art polish for that one. I think I'm going to try this again but in pink, I've been slacking on my Pink Wednesday posts.

Polishes I used:

Wet n wild wild shine clear nail protector,
Wet n wild megalast I need a refresh-mint,
Sally Hansen X-treme wear mint sorbet,
L.A colors color craze static electricity,
L.A colors art deco white,
and NYC extra shiny top coat.

Under the Dome nail art

Hi guys!

It's day 29 of the #31DC2013 and today's challenge is the supernatural. I could of taken this at face value and done some nail art from the TV show Supernatural but I wanted to save that until October for when I get into the Halloween swing of things.
I've been catching up on the mini series Under the Dome and I thought it might make some interesting nail art. I based these off this picture I found, I simplified it quite a bit but I think you can still get the gist that it's inspired by Under the Dome.

Polishes I used:

Wet n wild wild shine French white crème,
NYC cashmere crème,
NYC in a new York color minute flat iron green,
The Color Workshop unnamed,
Wet n wild fast dry ebony hates chris,
Rimmel London 60 second camoflauge,
Wet n wild fast dry gray's anatomy,

Hetalia France nail art

Hi guys!

I'm excited to show you guys what I did for today's challenge, it's day 28 of the #31DC2013 and today the challenge was to do a mani inspired by a flag. I have a mile long list of Hetalia manis I want to do so I took this as an opportunity to do one of them!

I freehanded France on my thumb, the French flag on my ring and index fingers, and stamped roses on my pinkie and middle finger because he's often seen carrying one.

Polishes I used:

Wet n wild wild shine clear nail protector,
Wet n wild wild shine French white crème (just noticed the name of this, HA),
Wet n wild wild shine red red,
Wet n wild wild shine bijou blue,
Konad stamping polish red,
Wet n wild megalast sugar coat,
Pure ice French kiss (this one too!),

Café Terrace At Night nail art

Hi guys!

Today's challenge is to do a mani inspired by a work of art, Vincent Van Gogh is my favorite artist so I immediately knew where I wanted to go with this.
One of my favorites painting of his is  Café Terrace At Night, and there was no hope of me being able to do the actual café and chairs so I decided to focus on the sky portion of the painting.

I sponged several different shades of blue to create my base and then I used a dotting tool to layer white and yellow to make the stars. Then finally I added a coat of a milky/sheer white polish so all the colors would blend with each other better.

Polishes I used:

Wet n wild wild shine clear nail protector,
Wet n wild wild shine French white crème,
Wet n wild wild shine blue moon,
Wet n wild wild shine bijou blue,
Essence colour & go little miss sunrise,
EN-VY funny bunny,
and a dotting tool.

#31DC2013 Day 26 patterns

Hi guys!

These are the patterned nails I did for day 26 of the #31DC2013, I needed more hands on deck for this challenge so I painted my mom's nails for today's challenge instead of my own.
These were inspired by these nails I found ages ago on pinterest, I get so much inspiration from that site!

I used a striping brush and a dotting tool for these, I'm pretty sure the originals were done with tape but I didn't have any on hand so I just winged it.

Polishes I used:

Wet n wild wild shine clear nail protector,
NYC in a new York color minute sidewalkers,
Wet n wild wild shine red red,
NYC in a new York color minute Lexington yellow,
Wet n wild wild shine French white crème,
Wet n wild megalast candy-licious,

When we meet, I listen to your heartbeat

Hi guys!

Today's theme in the #31DC2013 is to do a mani inspired by fashion of some sort. I don't pay any attention whatsoever to current fashion trends or watch any fashion week coverage or anything like that, so I just picked out one of my favorite t-shirts that has a cute image of two hands making a heart to base my nails on, I figure if it's a piece of clothing it counts as fashion!
It's also day two of the crumpets #33DC and the challenge is to use your most used color of nail polish, Wet n wild wild shine French white crème and the black I used for this are neck and neck for that place so I just picked one to use.

These were actually far more difficult to paint than I was anticipating them to be, I had to redo the thumbs almost five times!

Polishes I used:

Wet n wild wild shine clear nail protector,
NYC cashmere crème,
Wet n wild fastdry ebony hates chris,
NYC extra shiny top coat,

Things not seen

Hi guys!

It's day 24 of the #31DC2013 already, this challenge seems to be zipping by! Today's theme is books, so I went through my bookshelf to find some cover art I wanted to base a design off of and I picked out Things Not Seen by Andrew Clements. The story is about a fifteen year old named Bobby Phillips who wakes up one morning to find out he has inexplicably turned invisible. Along the way of trying to figure out who or what did this to him he befriends a blind girl named Alicia, it's a quick read but it goes deeper into what it would actually be like to be invisible than your average story.

I freehanded the silver silhouette with a striping brush and I roughly dabbed the end of the brush on the nail for the twinkling stars.

Polishes I used:

Wet n wild wild shine clear nail protector,
Klean Color midnight queen,
Wet n wild wild shine metallica,
Wet n wild wild shine French white crème,
L.A colors art deco silver glitter,
NYC extra shiny top coat,
and a striping brush.

I NEVER say please!

Hi guys!

I was at a loss for what to do for today's nail art, I had to think of a movie with dots or something to do with spots. But after some brain wracking I realized I could do Nanny McPhee nail art! In the movie the children pretend to have the measles and paint their faces white with red spots so that's what my middle finger is, my ring finger is Nanny McPhee's silhouette while she's holding her stick, and finally my index finger is the Jackdaw Mr Edelweiss.

Polishes I used:

Wet n wild wild shine clear nail protector,
Wet n wild wild shine blue moon,
Wet n wild wild shine red red,
Wet n wild wild shine French white crème,
Wet n wild fast dry teal of fortune,
and a striping brush.

Is that your grandma's coat?

Hi guys!

Today's post isn't going to be very wordy, I had a four hour long martial arts test this morning so I'm totally wiped out. But I didn't want to skip a day of the #31DC2013 so I figured I should try to stay awake just long enough to post this!
Today's theme is to do a mani inspired by a song, I've been meaning to do nails inspired by the song Thrift Shop by Macklmore ever since I first heard it, and now I've finally gotten around to it!

My pinkie is a price tag, my ring a keyboard, my middle a plaid shirt, my index is zebra for the zebra jammies, and finally I freehanded a dollar sign on my thumb.

As white as snow, and as red as blood

Hi guys!

Today's theme in the #31DC2013 is to create a mani inspired by a color. I chose Madame Red from Black Butler as my inspiration, if you want a little backstory on her you can learn more about her here.
I painted Madame Red on my thumb so I would have as much room as possible, and I think she looks great if I do say myself! I wasn't sure what to do for the rest of my nails so I stamped a floral design in her favorite color.

I used a extremely thin striping brush for the details and a small dotting tool for the pupils of her eyes. I was surprised at how her eyes came out, usually I'm dreadful at eyes (lips too), but I was able to outline them and even add eyelashes!

Polishes I used:

Wet n wild wild shine clear nail protector,
Wet n wild wild shine French white crème,
Ulta let the flames begin,
Orly ever burgundy,
Wet n wild fast dry ebony hates chris,
N.Y.C broadway burgundy frost,
Wet n wild megalast sugar coat,

#31DC2013 Day 20 water marbling

Hi guys!

I've haven't been looking forward to today's theme which is water marbling just because they're a pain in the neck to do (or at least they are in my opinion), but they actually turned out the way I wanted them to!

I only used three polishes for these, and I finished with a coat of top coat like usual.
I think my thumb came out the best, I mixed the colors a bit more than necessary on the rest of my nails.

Polishes I used:

Wet n wild wild shine clear nail protector,
Wet n wild fastdry teal of fortune,
Sally Hansen X-treme mint sorbet,
and Jordana boy oh boy.

In a galaxy far far away

Hi guys!

We're already more than half way though the #31DC2013, I had thought that it was going to drag on, but it's actually speeding right along! Today's theme is to do a galaxy mani, I've only done a few in the past and I've mostly used darker colors, but recently The Nailasaurus has done some gorgeous galaxy manis is pastels so that inspired me to try using a couple lighter polishes in my nails today.

I started with a dark blue base as usual and then sponged yellow, light pink, a couple blues, and two different glitter polishes on the nails. I also added a light coat of the glow in the dark polish I used in my He Picks my Polish mani since I still had it out, and it gave it a lovely milky finish.

Polishes I used:

Wet n wild wild shine clear nail protector,
N.Y.C Lexington yellow,
Wet n wild wild shine tickled pink,
Claire's glow in the dark unnamed,
Wet n wild fastdry party of five glitters,

Radioactive venomous nails

Hi guys!

Over at The Sparkle Queen I found this new challenge He Picks My Polish! Basically you have a "he" pick three polishes out of your stash with zero guidance and you have to do a mani with only those three polishes and a clear coat. I had each of my three brothers pick out a polish each from my stash and they actually wound up with a pretty average looking palate of colors!

My littlest brother's favorite color is blue so he was drawn to the L.A colors polish right off the bat, middle brother went straight for a glow in the dark polish because he had heard me talking about it a couple weeks ago, and my oldest brother picked the purple solely because of the name: Metallic Venom. And coincidentally the blue polish is named Radiation so they decided I had radioactive venomous nails.
And since it's half moon day in the #31DC2013 I had a battle plan to follow instead of trying to figure out a mani around these polishes. I just started with a base of blue and layered the purple over the top. I only put one coat of the glow in the dark polish, it's a very pretty glittery milky blue, but I know from previous manis I'd have to use almost five coats to get any serious glow in the dark action.

Polishes I used:

Wet n wild wild shine clear nail protector,
Color Mates metallic venom,
L.A colors color craze radiation,
and Claire's glow in the dark unnamed.

Hetalia Iceland nail art

Hi guys!

It's glitter day in the #31DC2013, Monday blues day, and the latest theme in the Mish Mash challenge is cold (that's a mouthful!). I bought this gorgeous polish about a month ago at Rue 21 for 3.99 and sadly haven't been able to use it until now.

This is pink ice by Rue 21, it doesn't have an individual name but I was able to find the color number, 031. And to make it a cold mani, I decided to do some Hetalia nail art (is anyone noticing a theme yet?), I choice Iceland since Iceland is pretty cold, apparently the average temperature there is -14!

I freehanded Iceland on my middle finger and his buddy Mr. Puffin on my ring finger. I used a striping brush for all of Iceland's face and most of Mr. Puffin, his eyes were done with a dotting tool.

Iceland's eyes didn't come out quite as hoped, I dotted white in the center of them but the blue swallowed it up so all you can see is blue.
I love how Mr. Puffin's bowtie came out, because bowties are cool (even on a puffin!).

Polishes I used:

Wet n wild wild shine clear nail protector,
Pink Ice by Rue 21 031,
Wet n wild megalast sugar coat,

What'd you want me to do dress in drag and do the hula?

Hi guys!

I admit that I cheated a bit with today's mani, it's tribal day in the #31DC2013 and I was in a bit of a rush and didn't want to do a mani with sixteen zillion black lines and zigzags going every which way, so I took the easy way out and used a "tribal" stamp. I still can't figure out what this image is supposed to be, the only thing that comes to my mind is a Hawaiian luau!

Polishes I used:

Wet n wild wild shine clear nail protector,
Jordana boy oh boy,
Wet n wild megalast candy-licious,
Wet n wild wild shine French white crème,
and SH21.

You can never tell with bees

Hi guys!

Day fifteen of the #31DC2013 is delicate, and I wanted to do something unique, so I decided to do some honey comb nail art! I briefly considered stamping with black over the yellow, but I think that would've looked too severe, so I went with an orange polish instead.
The bee on my ring finger was a last minute addition, while I was waiting for my base polish to dry I was going through my stamping plates for a different mani and found the image and I just had to use it! And finally I been in a matte mood lately, I think matting it gave it a waxy look which is perfect for this!

Polishes I used:

Wet n wild wild shine clear nail protector,
N.Y.C in a new York color minute Lexington yellow,

Penny Pinching Polish nominated me for the Liebster award a couple days ago, but since I just recently wrote a post accepting one a couple weeks ago I'm only going to answer her questions and not link up to anyone else (sorry guys!).

1. What inspired you to blog? My mom! She had had a quilting blog for a couple years and that got me wanting to have one for myself!

2. What's your fave finish of nail polish? Crème.

3. What's your earliest polish memory/the thing that got you really hooked on nails? When I was little my mom had this one bottle of a burgundy red polish and I would paint my toes, just my toes because whenever I did my fingers it would chip straight off, but when that bottle ran out I got some new colors and it just spiraled from there!

4. What is a technique that you have not yet tried yet would you like to master?
Watercolor nail art, it looks so beautiful but I haven't had the time to try it yet!

5. What's your go-to mani when you're pushed for time?
I usually stamp when I'm trying to save time.

6. How long have you been doing nail art?
Four years, but these last two I've started to really get into it.

7. What are your 3 favourite hand-care items?
I actually don't have any specific products I use consistently, I tend to bounce around a lot.

8. If there were no limits, what shape and length would you like your nails to be?
I'm actually completely satisfied with my current nail shape, I really do love the look of short rounded nails.

9. Do you have a day job, and if so, what is it?
Not yet!

10. What mani are you most proud of, and why?
If I had to pick just one I'd pick Boku Hetalia, it's the most complicated design I've ever attempted and I really loved the end result!

11. Do you have other hobbies other than painting your nails?
I also knit, quilt, practice martial arts, and I'm always reading something new!

Boku Hetalia

Hi guys!

I think I might of gone a little overboard with today's nail art, but I'm ridiculously happy with how it looks! Today's theme in the #31DC2012 is flowers and I didn't want to do the usual boring rose or daisy design I'd usually do, so since I've been watching waaaay to much Hetalia lately, I did some (awesome in my opinion) Hetalia ending theme nail art! If you haven't seen the series, and I highly recommend watching them, you can watch the theme that inspired today's nails here.

All of the details on these were done with a striping brush except for the flowers. First I started with a base of white, striped different colors over the nail, outlined the stalks and leaves in dark and light green, and finally used layers of different sizes of dots for the flowers.

On my thumb after I did the stripes on my white base, I did half circles on the sides of the nails because I couldn't squeeze whole circles onto the nail, and then finally I painted the blue vines with a striping brush and the stars with an itsy bitsy detail brush.

Polishes I used:

Wet n wild wild shine clear nail protector,
Wet n wild wild shine French white crème,
Wet n wild wild shine tickled pink,
Wet n wild megalast candy-licious,
Wet n wild fast dry sage in the city,
Jordana boy oh boy,

Orly star of Bombay,
L.A colors color craze sea shell,

Pure ice French kiss,
Color Mates nail art tangerine,

#31DC2013 Animal Print mani

Hi guys!

Today's theme in the #31DC2013 is to do an animal print mani! I tried using this stamp once before in a purple polish and it didn't show up very clearly so I was hesitant at using it again, but it worked wonderfully in my favor this time!

I'm very excited to show you girls the mani I have lined up for tomorrow, I'm so proud of it! I'll give you a little hint: Maru kaite chikyuu!

Polishes I used:

Wet n wild wild shine clear nail protector,
Lakme' color crush 03,

Let the sunshine in

Hi guys!

I wanted to do an extra summery design since we're running on the last dregs of the summer, and this cute mani has been on my to-do list for ages. I tweaked the idea a bit to create this watercolor/crayon looking style, I used a striping brush for the stripes and the swirls on the suns, and I also layered yellow, copper, and white swirls to get a layered look on the suns.
I finished with a light coat of a pink glitter, and then I matted my nails with N.Y.C matte me crazy.

Polishes I used:

Wet n wild wild shine clear nail protector,
Wet n wild wild shine French white crème,
Wet n wild wild shine lavender crème,
Color Mates nail art bold yellow,
Color Mates nail art mint green,
N.Y.C in a new York color minute MoMa,

Aww, Shucks!

Hi guys!

I've have two challenge themes to abide by today, it's the polka dot day of the #31DC2013 and it's also use your least expensive polish day in the Mish Mash challenge. I picked up Wet n wild wild shine red red for 50 cents a couple months ago when Walgreens was having all their makeup 50% off, and I think I picked up a few other polishes but I can't remember which ones for the life of me!
So back to the nails!
Today's design is inspired by this mani by The Nail Network. Her mani was inspired by a pin she got through a really fun pin trading program Disney World does, and I went and read a bit more about it here; now I have yet another reason I want to go to Disney World!

I used a extra large dotting tool for the dots and a striping brush for mickey's head. I was afraid I would smear my black dots when I put on topcoat, but by some random stroke of luck it looks perfect with no smearing!

Polishes I used:

Wet n wild wild shine clear nail protector,
Wet n wild wild shine red red,
Wet n wild wild shine French white crème,
Wet n wild fast dry ebony hates chris,
a dotting tool,
and a striping brush.

National Makeup Day and #31DC2013 day 10

Hi guys!

Today's theme in the #31DC2013 is to do a gradient mani! I was curious to see what a blue/gray gradient would look like, and I had these two blue polishes sitting out from my Fruit Stripe mani so I just threw them together on a spur of the moment whim and I think it turned out to be a pretty good whim indeed! And since it's also National Makeup day and Dream It Up Nails By Colleen is doing a linky party, I stamped these pouty primped girls as the finishing touch!

Polishes I used:

Wet n  wild wild shine clear nail protector,
Jordana boy oh boy,
Sally Hansen X-treme wear mint sorbet,
Petites color fever vintage gray,
and Konad M4.

Yipes! Stripes!

Hi guys!

Rainbow is the theme for day 9 of the #31DC2013, and I have some very colorful zebra nail art to show off! I used more than ten polishes for this mani, (I know, crazy right?) so instead of having a ten mile long list I'll just leave those off, but if you guys want to know the name of a specific polish just ask!

I used Konad M57 to stamp the zebra print, and I did stamp on the orange nail too, but my oranges are so close together in color that the stamping wouldn't show up in my photos.
I love how my ring finger looks, I'm going to be doing some experiments with those two green polishes!

Ninja throwing stars

Hi guys!

Today's theme in the #31DC2013 is metallic, I actually only own one polish that qualifies as metallic, so this was a fairly easy mani to plan!
I've been wanting to use this image ever since I got my Wistonia plates, throwing stars on your nails are just too cute!

Polishes I used:

Wet n wild wild shine clear nail protector,
N.Y.C black lace crème,
L.A girl polka dot silver,
and W112.

On a side note, I've been watching a ton of Hetalia lately and I was thinking it would be awesome to do a Hetalia week with manis featuring the different characters and their buddies (Gilbird, Tony, mint bunny etc.). But I'm pretty swamped with the 31DC2013 so it might have to wait until October. But then it'll cut into my Halloween themed nail extravaganza, so I don't know what to do!
