Scaly nails

Hi!

This is another one of my new Wistonia plates, and I love the image but the polishes I used didn't contrast that well. I tried stamping purple on top of the blue but it didn't show up at all so I stamped over it again with black. But it does have an interesting shimmery layered look now!

I'm going to be trying this again in the near future with some lighter colors, maybe some glitter will be thrown in just 'cause?

Here's the polishes I used:

N.Y.C in a new York color minute grand central station,
Wet n wild wild shine blue moon,
Wet n wild mega-last disturbia,
Konad special stamping polish black,
and W101.

Tut tut it looks like rain

Hi!

We're in the decades portion of the Llama nails time periods challenge! Today's theme is the roaring 20s! I had a feeling absolutely everyone was going to do Great Gatsby nails, so I went in a totally different direction. It turns out the first Winnie The Pooh book was published in 1922 and I love the old illustrations.

This is one of my favorite of his adventures, I painted Pooh hanging from the "raincloud" on my thumb, and the suspicious bees on the rest of my fingers. I used a very thin detail brush for all the details.

I'm excited about the upcoming challenge days, I have a great idea for the 50s!

Here's the polishes I used:

N.Y.C in a new York minute grand central station,
N.Y.C cashmere crème,
Wet n wild fastdry ebony hates chris,
Klean Color pastel teal,
Essence colour & go little miss sunrise,
and a detail brush.

New Wistonia plates

Hi!

I finally got to open up my new Wistonia plates! I ordered them shortly before I left for my road trip so I could've got to them earlier but I just finished getting back into the swing of being in the right state again. I'd originally seen them on Lacquer or Leave her and knew I had to had them! Usually there's at least one plate that doesn't have an image I like, but I absolutely love all of these!

I had a hard time trying to decide which one to try out first, but ultimately I had to try out this adorable mushroom image.

I'm thinking these would be cute in red and white, like toadstools in a fairytale book!

Here's the polishes I used:

N.Y.C in a new York color minute grand central station,
Jordana boy oh boy,
Pure ice scandal,
and W110.

Klean Color Midnight Queen

Hi!

I picked up a couple Klean Color for dirt cheap while I was in New Mexico at one of those markets that pop up at the side of the road.
I love dark shimmery blues so I had to try this one out first, this is Midnight Queen stamped over a white base. Truthfully I was going to try to do a newspaper mani with a old roadmap so I'd have vacation nails but that failed terrifically so I had plain white nails that needed to be embellished.

The blues are drastically paler after stamping, but I do like the subtle shimmer they have. This is Bundle Monster plate BM12 over N.Y.C French white tip finished with N.Y.C in a new York color minute grand central station.

These are the other polishes I picked up, from the right Midnight Queen, Boogie Nights, Pastel Teal, and Silver Purple. These were a dollar each, I would've probably gotten more but these were the only colors I liked that I saw.

Exploring Carlsbad Caverns

Hi!

I just got back from a road trip with my family and we went to one of my favorite national parks, Carlsbad Caverns in New Mexico! I took over a hundred pictures (I said it was my favorite!), and after a lot of weeding I picked out a couple of what I thought were some of my better shots.

We walked through the natural cave entrance rather than taking the elevator, I was told that the whole walkaround of the cavern is around three miles, and I was really surprised because it didn't seem nearly as long as that.

This is one of my favorites, after a lot of fiddling I made my camera agree to taking pictures in the dark, and I love how this one got the dim blue-ish yellow lighting of the cave.

I think these look a tad like christmas trees, but the actual name for all the formations is Speleothems.

We made a quick stop in Moab, Utah on the way home and I only took a few pictures so I just have this one to show you guys.

Llama nails time periods Industrial Revolution

Hi!

I did a bit of research on toys that were invented during the industrial revolution, and I found out that the kaleidoscope is one of them! Sir David Brewster invented this toy in 1815 and patented it in 1917.
I've always loved kaleidoscopes, and it's just a fun word to say!

I used a stamping image which I think was supposed to be shattered glass, and it worked really well for this! I also stamped a criss-cross image (I used it in my heartstrings mani too) over the shatters. I finished it with a silver glitter topper to make it look like the shiny light catching baubles inside kaleidoscopes.

Here's the polishes I used:

N.Y.C color in a new York minute,
Color mates little blue box,
Jordana boy oh boy,
Crayola silver sparks,
Rimmel London 60 seconds camouflage,
Konad special stamping polish white,
L.A colors art deco mint green,
L.A colors art deco bright green,
Color mates nail art teal,
Shany plate SH22,
and BundleMonster plate BM11.

Llama nails time periods Victorian Era

Hi!

I've been looking forward to today's challenge theme because I love all things Victorian/steampunk and having them on my nails is even better!
I was originally thinking about doing some cameos or silhouettes, but I've been wanting to do clockwork for a while (and I just watched the great mouse detective so I have it on the brain) so that's what I did!

I started with a dark burgundy polish as my base and used three different metallic polishes for the gears. The gears were all done with a striping brush, I tried to paint the ones on my pinkie and thumb to look like they're interlocking and I'm really happy with how they came out.

I think this might be my favorite so far of the manis I've done for this challenge, I just love how the gears shimmer on top of the dark base.

Here's the polishes I used:

N.Y.C in a new York color minute grand central station,
Jesse's girl center stage,
EN-VY blue my mind,
Lotus herbals colour dew copper gold,
Wet n wild fast dry gray's anatomy,
and a striping brush.

MSMD belated Mother's Day nails

Hi!

I delayed posting these because they are a MSMD mani, so happy belated mothers day mom!
I loosely based my nails on this mani and this cartoon heart. I didn't want to do the tattoo on every nail so I stamped some winged hearts on the rest of my nails.

All the details on the heart were painted with a striping brush, I just had to go slow and let some layers dry before adding more details.

And here's a quick shot of Josephine being her usual cute self!

Here's the polishes I used:

N.Y.C in a new York color minute grand central station,
Petites color fever seashell,
Konad special stamping polish red,
Essence nude glam peaches and cream,
L.A colors art deco sea foam green,
Jesse's girl center stage,

Wet n Wild megalast Disturbia

Hi!

I felt like just having some good old glitter on my nails, and this was the only one of my untried glitter polishes, Crayola wisteria. This is my first and only bar glitter polish, I think it's a pleasant change from just plain sparkle glitter.

This is two coats of Disturbia and one coat of Wisteria finished with a top coat.

Here's the polishes I used:

N.Y.C color in a new York minute,
Wet n Wild megalast disturbia,
and Crayola wisteria.

Mona Lisa nail art

Hi!

I think we're almost past the extra difficult themes! Today's theme of the Llama nails time periods nail challenge is the Renaissance. I decided to bite off way more than I could chew by trying to do the Mona Lisa, and it actually came out way better than I thought it would!

It took almost an hour for me to do, but part of that may be I kept re-doing her eyes and nose.
But interestingly her mouth was the easiest part to paint!

I used a detail brush for all the details, I was going to use a dotting tool for the eyes but it turned out  to be too big for the job.

Here's the polishes I used:

L.A colors basecoat/topcoat,
CQ golden green,
N.Y.C French white tip,
Wet n wild fast dry ebony hates chris,
Sally Hansen Insta-Dry jumpin' jade,
Petites color fever seashell,
Petites color fever vintage gray,
Lotus herbals colour dew gold mist,
Sally Hansen no chip 10 day surely ivory,
a detail brush,
and N.Y.C color in a new York minute grand central station.

Polish Days 5

Hi!

I recently found out that Doctor Who filmed a children in need special with the doctors 10 and 5 which you can watch here, and I really loved 5's outfit. And then Polly Polish announced that the latest Polish Days theme was the number 5 so as you can imagine I was very happy.

I freehanded the piece of celery he wears on his lapel on my thumb, the question marks on his collar on my pinkie and middle finger, and the red and orange stripes from his coat and hat on my ring and index finger.

I never would of thought that I would paint celery on my nails, but I guess it's one of the tamer things I've worn on my nails!

Here's the polishes I used:

L.A colors basecoat/topcoat,
Petites Color Fever seashell,
Sally Hansen X-treme wear mint sorbet,
Color Mates nail art tangerine,
Color Mates nail art red shimmer,
Pure Ice free spirit,
N.Y.C in a new York color grand central station,
and a striping brush.

Hi!

I was in the mood to do a Doctor Who mani so after some googling I found these awesome nails. The Snowmen is one of my favorite episodes of the new season, and I think these nails are a perfect representation of the snowmen!

I painted the face with a striping brush and the snowflakes were stamped on.

Here's the polishes I used:

L.A colors basecoat/topcoat,
L.A colors color craze static electricity,
N.Y.C French white tip,

Cinco De Mayo nail art

Hi!

I was going through my folder of to do nail art because I couldn't decide what I wanted to do for today's post, and then I realized it's Cinco De Mayo! After a bit of looking I found this really helpful tutorial by Pixie Polish on YouTube which you can watch here.

I have mixed feelings about how they came out, I'm happy with the eyes but I wish my colors had shown up brighter, and I'm not crazy about how the teeth came out.
They were pretty easy to do, they just took a chunk of time paint.

But they do look neat next to the dios las muertos skull I painted a couple months back!

Here's the polishes I used:

L.A colors basecoat/topcoat,
N.Y.C French white tip,
Color Mates nail art bold yellow,
Color Mates nail art lime,
Color Mates nail art tangerine,
Color Mates nail art hot pink,
Wet n wild fast dry ebony hates chris,
a dotting tool,
a detail brush,
a striping brush,
and N.Y.C in a new York color minute.
