Llama nails Egyptian era

Hi!

I love today's theme! When I was younger I watched practically every special on the history and discovery channel about ancient Egypt and mummies so I consider myself very well informed about ancient Egypt (or at least enough to do some cool nail art)!

I stamped an eye of Horus on my thumb, a black cat on my index finger, I freehanded the face of Tutankhamen's sarcophagus on my ring finger, and I stamped a cross on my pinkie.
I don't think the cross has anything to do with ancient Egypt but it looked nice in red so I figured what the heck and threw it in!

Tutankhamen's face came out way better than I was expecting, I wish I could of squished more of the blue in.

Here's the polishes I used:

Day two Neanderthal/stone age nails

Hi!

Today's challenge is Neanderthal/stone age! I got the idea of using the Flintstones from Spellbound nail's submission which you can see here, but that gave me a new idea for mine!

One of my favorite episodes of the Flintstones is Alvin Brickrock presents, because it had the piranhakeet in it (I have no idea if I'm spelling that right), and just for the way he says good evening!

I painted Fred's tie on my thumb, the piranhakeet in his cage on my middle finger, and the print from his clothes on the rest of my nails.

I love how my thumb looks but my stupid topcoat smeared the black. I need to learn to be more patient and wait a bit longer!

Here's the polishes I used:

L.A colors basecoat/topcoat,
L.A girl disco brites light show,
Color mates metallic venom,
L.A colors color craze splash,
Wet n wild fastdry ebony hates chris,
N.Y.C French white tip,
Petites color fever seashell,

Llama nails time periods nail challenge!

Hi!

I found a new challenge to take part in, the Llama nails time periods nail challenge! I'm really looking forward to the Victorian era day! But first I have day one's Jurassic era nail art!

I went and looked up dinosaurs that lived in the Jurassic era and ended up picking the allosaurus and this was the best picture I could find of it's footprints.
I started with a coppery polish and sponged a gold polish over it. I used a detail brush to paint the foot prints, I tried to make them sort of smudged looking and I finished with a matte topcoat to give it that muddy/stone look.

I'm really loving my matte topcoat! I have a feeling I'll have to get more soon.

Here's the polishes I used:

L.A colors basecoat/topcoat,
Elle 18 nail pops unnamed,
Color mates nail art cocoa,
Lakme fast and fabulous 40" gold caramel,
N.Y.C matte me crazy,
and a sponge.

Tri-Polish challenge Day one clouds

Hi!

I think I saved my best for first instead of last! I did a cloud mani using the wonderful Nailside's tutorial which you can check out here.
I used all my polishes in this one, and I love how it turned out! All my previous attempts have been less than satisfactory, but this one is great.

I wasn't sure how these colors would look together in this, but they go together surprisingly well!

Here's the polishes I used:

L.A colors basecoat/topcoat,
L.A colors color craze tropical breeze,
Color mates nail art teal,
Wet n wild wild shine blazed,
and N.Y.C in a new York color minute grand central station.

Tri-polish Day two stamped crosses

Hi!

This is my mani for day two of the Tri-polish challenge, I wanted to do something vaguely Easter related so I decided to use this stamping image I haven't tried out before.

It didn't stamp as clearly as I hoped it would, but I actually like the faded look! I'm going to try stamping this in black, I think it'll turn out better that way.

I'm really loving this coral polish! I very rarely wear a polish by itself with no embellishment, but this makes me want to do that!

Here's the polishes I used:

L.A colors basecoat/topcoat,
Wet n wild wild shine blazed,
Color mates nail art teal,
Shany stamping plate SH15,
and N.Y.C in a new York color minute grand central.

Tri-polish challenge Day three

Hi!

So I've started backtracking from day four, to day three! I decided to do a sort of witchy stripy design with my purple and green polish choices.
Even though this is really simple, I really like it! I haven't done a striped mani in absolutely forever so this is refreshing!

I forgot to link to it in my previous post, you can check out the rules and how to join the Tri-polish challenge here.

Here's the polishes I used:

L.A colors basecoat/topcoat,
L.A colors color craze tropical breeze,
Color mates nail art teal,
and N.Y.C in a new York color minute grand central station.

The Tri-polish challege Day four

Hi!

I found out about this challenge at the tail end, and I really wanted to take part, so I'm doing day four first and then I'm going to backtrack to the other days! It turns out I only have one coral polish and I hadn't even opened it yet so this was a good challenge for me!

I got the idea for this arrow design on pinterest, you can see the pin here.

For some reason these remind me of the lion king! I used to have a comforter with simba and nala on it and it had colors really similar to these.

Here's the polishes I used:

L.A colors basecoat/topcoat,
Wet n wild wild shine blazed,
Color mates nail art bold yellow,
Color mates nail art teal,
L.A colors color craze tropical breeze,

Age of aquarius and SH20

Hi!

This is another one of the polishes I bought at Rue 21 a couple days ago, Color Club age of Aquarius! I love turquoise and light blue polishes and this is a great one. And it looks awesome with a matte topcoat!

This is my first time using a matte topcoat, and I'm really liking it with the white and blue. I used N.Y.C matte me crazy.

This polish came off ridiculously easy, it took one cotton ball for both sets of nails!

Here's the polishes I used:

L.A colors basecoat/topcoat,
Color Club age of aquarius,
Shany stamping plate SH20,
N.Y.C matte me crazy,
and Konad special stamping polish white.

One ring to rule them all nail art

Hi!

I found out recently that such a thing as Tolkien reading day existed so I had to do some nail art!

At first I was going to try doing these, but quickly decided that was not humanly possible.
So I went a couple steps down and wrote one ring to rule them all in english on my nails!

I've been seeing people using sharpies for nail art, and I tried it out here for the first time! My top coat smeared it a little, but I really like the singed and sunk in look of it, I think it came out great!

And I recently acquired The Hobbit on dvd so I might watch that today (even though it's not "reading").

Here's the polishes I used:

L.A colors basecoat/topcoat,
Lotus herbals colour dew gold mist,
a black sharpie,
and N.Y.C in a new York minute grand central station.

Black heart beauty holo lv stck and SH09

Hi!

I did these before I went off to the pool for the day, I was considering doing a bright cheerful pool themed mani, but I came back to black glittery skulls for some reason.
I'm still in love with this bottle, it's makes me happy every time I see it! And I got the polishes mixed together a bit more, so I got way more purple on my nails than last time.

I wasn't sure if the black stamping would stand out enough against the grey, but I think it came out really nicely!

Here's the polishes I used:

L.A color basecoat/topcoat,
Black heart beauty holo lv stck,
Konad special stamping polish black,
Shany stamping plate SH09,
and N.Y.C extra shiny top coat.

Color Club by design

Hi!

I  picked up a few Color club polishes for a dollar each at Rue 21 last week, I haven't tried out Color club before and to be honest I'm not sure how much I like this particular polish.
This is by design with a coat of shiny top coat on top. It's a very dark eggplant purple, it's a almost dark chocolate color in real life. But it has no shine at all, it's a very dull finish.

I added a swirly sort of design on my ring finger with Sinful colors nail art a slice to go.
By design dries pretty quickly, and it didn't chip until the second day.

I bought two other polishes and I'm probably going to do swatches of them soon.

Goody spin pin review

Hi!

I bought some spin pins for around six bucks a couple months ago, and I'm always loosing bobby pins by the dozens, so I've been a bit more careful with them than I'd usually be. But then I saw them at the Dollar Tree and I was able to get two backups. I'm able to easily put my hair up in a bun and keep it up all day with these, my hair is past my waist so I have a lot of it to pin up there!

They come in different colors to match your hair, I chose the dark brown pins. I've been using my first set of pins for a couple months now and they hold their shape really well, they haven't unwound in the slightest.

I just gather my hair into a pony tail and twist it into a tight bun, then put one pin in the top and one in the bottom.

1 up mushroom nail art

Hi!

I gave my brother his mushroom present today so I did some nail art to go with it! I got the idea from these nails. I've been really loving wearing french manicures lately, and these have a fresh bright feel to them which I love!

I freehanded the white part of the tips and the white of the mushroom with the original brush from the bottle, and all the green was done with a nail art brush. I did the spots with a dotting tool, and the eyes were a combination of a nail art brush and a striping brush to clean them up.

Here's the polishes I used:

L.A colors basecoat/topcoat,
N.Y.C french white tip,
Color mates nail art lime,
Color mates nail art black,
Wet n wild megalast sugar coat,
a striping brush,
a dotting tool,
and N.Y.C extra shiny top coat.

T-shirt quilt top

Hi!

I've been piling old t-shirts that I don't wear anymore in a pile in the corner of my room, and most of them are stay there because they have neat designs and I couldn't bring myself to get rid of them. So a couple days ago I sorted through them all, picked out the ones with logos and prints, and cut a bunch of 10 by 10 squares.
I ended up with 24 squares and I sewed them into rows of 6, so I ended up with a 6 by 4 rectangle.

That's as far as I've gotten so far, I think I'm going to tie it to finish it instead of quilting it, a couple of the shirts have studs and that wouldn't agree with my sewing machine. I haven't used my sewing machine in almost two years so I had a bit of a rough start coaxing her to sew normally but after I got her going smoothly it came together really quickly.
