The new 31 days challenge Day 31 re-create someone else's mani

Hello!

It's the last day of the new 31 days challenge! Today's challenge is to re-create someone else's mani from a previous challenge. I had a hard time narrowing down my favorites and picking just one, but finally I landed on this design from Meg's manicures. You can look at the original post here.

Instead of color opposites I tweaked it a bit and used two similar shades of aqua.

I used two nail art polishes for my base and a striping brush for the white stripes.

I really love how this challenge has pushed me to create new designs, and I had a lot of fun! But I have to admit it is a relief to be finished and get back to my normal pace.

Here's the polishes I used:

L.A colors basecoat/topcoat,
Color mates nail art teal,
L.A colors art deco sea foam green,
Wet n wild wild shine french white creme,
a striping brush,
and N.Y.C extra shiny top coat.

Here's the polishes I used:

L.A colors basecoat/topcoat,
EN-VY blue my mind,
The color workshop silver glitter,
Sally Hansen Insta-Dry jumpin' jade,

The new 31 days challenge Day 29 inspired by a blogger

Hello!

It's day 29 of the new 31 days challenge and today's challenge is to do a mani inspired by another blogger. The blogger I chose is actually on tumblr but I really love her nail art so I figured an exception could be made. I chose The Sparkling Secret as my inspiration. Most of her manis are very bright and have lots of glitter so I tried to use that here.

I went for a sort of sparkly skittle mani and threw in some pink crackle for good measure.
I have a star on my thumb, hearts on my pinkie and index finger, crackle and a glittery french tip on my ring finger, and stripes on my middle finger.

Here's the polishes I used:

L.A colors basecoat/topcoat,
L.A colors color craze tropical breeze,
Fright night claw polish pink crackle,
L.A colors art deco black,
L.A colors art deco silver glitter,
and N.Y.C extra shiny top coat.

Hello!

It's day 28 of the new 31 days challenge and today's challenge is a mani inspired by your favorite color. I've been favoring shades of blue lately so I went with a sky blue mani today. I found the idea for these nails on Pinterest here.

I love how these came out, and they match my blog background! I didn't realize that till just now!

We're almost to the end of the challenge and it seems to of flown by, or at least to me it has.

Here's the polishes I used:

The new 31 days challenge day 27 inspired by me

Hello!

It's day 27 of the new 31 days challenge and today's challenge is to do a mani inspired by you.I have to say this has been the hardest challenge yet for me, I took absolutely forever to think of my mani.
I decided to do a mani inspired by my birthstone which is garnet. I stamped red gems over the glitter but my polishes were too similar so they don't show up that well.

If you look closely and squint you can almost see the gems, I should of used black but that would kind of defeat the purpose of them being garnets.

Here's the polishes I used:

L.A colors basecoat/topcoat,
Fantasy makers once upon a time,
Wet n wild wild shine red red,
Konad special stamping polish red,
Bundlemonster plate BM09,
and N.Y.C extra shiny top coat.

The new 31 days challenge Day 26 inspired by your country

Hello!

Today's challenge is to create a mani inspired by your country. I wanted to do something different from boring red, white, and blue so I picked something quite different! I picked five different national parks I've been to and painted each of my nails to represent each one.

My index finger is a geyser from Yellowstone in Wyoming, my middle finger is an arch from Arches in Utah, my ring finger is the Grand Canyon in Arizona, my pinkie has redwood trees from Redwoods in California, and on my thumb from my own state I have Crater lake in Oregon.

I used a sponge to do the steam on the geyser, but besides that all the details are done with a striping brush. I especially like how the geyser looks, I think the steam came out great.

Here's the polishes I used:

L.A colors basecoat/topcoat,
Pure ice free spirit,
Pure ice a-list,
Wet n wild wild shine french white creme,
Lotus hebals colour dew deep sea,

The new 31 days challenge Day 25 inspired by your childhood

Hello!

I'm really exited about today's mani! Today's challenge is to do something inspired by your childhood. I've been wanting to do these nails for a while and I used to watch this show a ton when I was younger so I had to do Maggie and the Ferocious Beast nails.

I painted the beast's big red spots on four of my nails and freehanded the beast his self on my thumb.

I'm so happy with how these came out, I think the beast looks great and I love having him on my nails!

Here's the polishes I used:

L.A colors basecoat/topcoat,
Essence colour and go little miss sunrise,
Wet n wild wild shine french white creme,
Wet n wild wild shine black creme,
Wet n wild megalast sugar coat,

The new 31 days challenge Day 24 inspired by a game

Hello!

Today's challenge is a mani inspired by a game and I have a great mani for you today! I've had this kiss me stamping image forever and haven't been able to think of what to do with it. I was looking through my plates for inspiration, and suddenly I thought spin the bottle nails!

I freehanded a little bottle on my middle finger and stamped the kiss me image on my ring finger.

And I thought my thumb was a little bare so I freehanded spin the bottle on it with a striping brush.

Here's the polishes I used:

L.A colors basecoat/topcoat,
Wet n wild megalast sugar coat,
Konad special stamping polish red,
Sally Hansen Insta Dry jumpin'jade,

The new 31 days challenge day 23 inspired by nature

Hello!

It's day 23 of the new 31 days challenge and today's challenge is a mani inspired by nature.

The first time I tried this mani the polish I chose turned out to be a dud, I'd had it a while, so after I tossed that out and chose a different brown polish, I came up with this!

I'm almost positive this stamp is wood rings so it's perfect for today's challenge.

Here's the polishes I used:

L.A colors basecoat/topcoat,
Nina ultra pro gladiator,
Color Mates cocoa,
Shany plate SH23,
and N.Y.C extra shiny top coat.

The new 31 days challenge day 22 inspired by a fabric

Hello!

I've fallen a bit behind on the challenge but I intend to catch up quickly! Today's challenge is a mani inspired by a fabric. I used this tutorial from Kayla Shevonne's nail blog for these ikat nails.

I really love how these came out, I didn't expect them to look this good on my first try!

I used a striping brush for all the details, the fringe and the layers.

Here's the polishes I used:

L.A colors basecoat/topcoat,
Wet n wild wild shine french white creme,
Pure ice scandal,
Sinful colors daddy's girl,

The Crumpet's new 31 day challenge Day 21 merge or melt

Hello!

It's day 21 of the new 31 day challenge and today's challenge is merge or melt. I've been doing a lot of gradients lately,(I'm asuming merge is a gradient) so I decided to do a melting mani.

I picked out some purple polishes and created this glittery design! I used a dotting tool for the drips, I put two or three dots in the middle of the nail then dragged them down to connect with each other.
I thought about sponging another shimmery polish over the darker purple, but I decided that would be overkill.

Here's the polishes I used:

L.A colors basecoat/topcoat,
Black heart beauty holo lv stck,
Sinful colors daddy's girl,
a dotting tool,
and N.Y.C extra shiny top coat.

The Crumpet's new 31 day challenge Day 20 texture

Hello!

It's Day 20 of the new 31 day challenge and today's challenge is texture. I interpreted that as something 3D so I used some rhinestones in today's design.

I decided to do a quilted design, I used a striping brush to paint the cross hatching and I only put rhinestones on one nail so they would pop out more.

I really love this golden green polish, I bought it a week ago so this is my first time trying it out.

Here's the polishes I used:

L.A colors basecoat/topcoat,
CQ golden green,
Lakme fast and fabulous 40 gold caramel,
Stop nail rhinstones,
a striping brush,
and N.Y.C extra shiny top coat.

The Crumpet's new 31 day challenge Day 19 your favorite polish

Hello!

Today's challenge is to use your favorite polish, so this was a hard one for me. It took a while for me to pick just one, but I finally decided on this polish!

This is Sally Hansen hard as nails x-treme wear mint sorbet. I love pastels so I had been looking for just the right shade of mint for this mani I did a couple months ago.

I used N.Y.C cashmere creme to polka dot over it, I think these two polishes go really well with each other.

Here's the polishes I used:

L.A colors basecoat/topcoat,
Sally Hansen hard as nail x-treme wear mint sorbet,
N.Y.C cashmere creme,
N.Y.C extra shiny top coat,
and a dotting tool.

The new 31 day challenge Day 18 oldest untried polish

Hello!

It's day 18 of the new 31 day challenge and today's challenge is to use your oldest untried polish. I am usually psyched to try out polishes right after I buy them, so I don't have a whole ton of untried polishes.

This is Color Mates fushcia flash, it's a pink with purple glimmers.

And this is fushcia flash after a coat of Cherimoya crackle 2012 innocence.

Here's the polishes I used:

L.A colors hardener/strengthener,
Color mates fushcia flash,
and Cherimoya 2012 crackle innocence.

The Crumpet's new 31 day challenge Day 17 a new technique to you

Hello!

It's day 17 of the new 31 day challenge and today's challenge is a new technique to you! I've been seeing gorgeous one stroke nail art floating around nail blogs recently, but I couldn't find any how to's. This mani is one of the first I saw, I would love to be able to do those!

I tried to do swirly flowers and leaves, I don't consider it a great success but I think the color  combinations are pretty!

I started with a base of gray and the flowers are a mix of a dark red and a dark blue polish.

Here's the polishes I used:

L.A colors hardener/strengthener,
Petites color fever vintage gray,
Orly ever burgundy,
Orly star of bombay,
a thick nail art brush,
and N.Y.C extra shiny top coat.

The Crumpet's new 31 day challenge Day 15 watercolor

Hello!

It's day 15 of the new 31 day challenge and today's challenge is watercolor nails! This is my first time trying this technique, and I think it came out very prettily!

I used three polishes for my watercolor, a red, a very dark purple, and a vampy red, over a creamy gray base.

I like the mottled look of these, I think I might have overblended a tad but I still like the end result!

Here's the polishes I used:

L.A colors hardener/strengthener,
Petites color fever vintage gray,
Orly ever burgundy,
Pure ice scandal,
The Color Workshop unnamed,
and a thick nail art brush.

The Crumpet's new 31 day challenge day 14 stamping

Hello!

It's day 14 of the new 31 day challenge and today's challenge is stamping! In my head these nails looked awesome, but in reality they fell flat.

I was going for half moons at first, but I messed them up so I switched to this half block design.

Part of it might be because I'm not as good at freehanding on my right hand (I'm right handed).

Here's the polishes I used:

L.A colors hardener/strengthener,
Wet n wild wild shine metallica,
Konad special stamping polish black,
Color mates nail art black,
and Shany plate SH22.
