Let it Snow new years!

Hi girls!

It's day ten of the Let it Snow challenge and today's theme is new years! Since yesterday's new years eve mani was a darker and sophisticated looking mani I wanted today's to be brighter and more fun.
My base polish is The Color Workshop bijou blue, I was a little confused when I first saw the name of this polish since there's a Wet n wild with the same name, but then I found out that Markwins owns both brands so I guess they just swapped bottles?
I usually wouldn't really care but bijou blue is a really fussy polish that takes three coats and shrinks back from the tips of the nails, just over all it's a pain in the neck to use.
Anyways back to the mani, I stamped some gold flower/stars and added some silver holo glitter to finish it off.

Polishes I used:

Wet n wild wild shine clear nail protector,
The Color Workshop bijou blue,
Lotus herbals colour dew gold mist,
The Color Workshop hallucination,
The Color Workshop top coat,
and SH24.

New years eve french tips

Hi girls!

The last theme in the Nail Tarts Christmas Winter Challenge is new years eve, not sure why it's on the 29th instead of the 31st, but oh well.
I started with a base of e.l.f sea escape and a thin coat of The Color Workshop gold digger, adding gold digger really brought the shimmer out of my base! I stamped a subtle French tip with SH17 and Konad White, and finally finished by matting it with NYC matte me crazy.
This is my favorite mani of the challenge, I guess I saved the best for last!

Glittering Snowflake nails

Hi girls!

Merry Christmas! I painted my nails a cheery red to go with the dress I'm wearing to Christmas dinner today, I stamped a little snowflake with BM14 and added a thin coat of Wet n Wild fast dry party of five glitters.

Party of five glitters has red, purple, green, light blue and silver medium and small glitters, they're much brighter and sparkly in real life so I think it's a perfect combo for Christmas!

Thanks for reading and have a wonderful holiday!

Christmas Cupcake nails

Hi girls!

Day nine of the Let it Snow challenge is Christmas, I was inspired by these nails by Polish and Pearls. After I did these I realized there's a tutorial, so if I had followed that these would've probably turned out better, but oh well!

I'll probably re-do these following the tutorial, but they don't look too shabby this way!

Polishes I used:

Wet n wild wild shine clear nail protector,
Wet n wild wild shine French white crème,
Ulta let the flames begin,
rue beaute! nail deco unnamed,
a dotting tool,

I ♥ candy canes mani

Hi girls!

I'm combining two challenges for today's mani, the Let it Snow Winter challenge theme for today is candy canes and the Nail Tarts Christmas Winter challenge theme is christmas food, I'm a little early with the second theme for once instead of my usual last minute posts!
These were inspired by this mani by Holy Manicures. I've been wanting to try a DIY glitter base coat for a while now, and I finally picked up some Elmer's from the store yesterday. I'll wear these for at least a day and then I'll probably do a post on how my glitter base coat turned out, fingers crossed that it works!

Polishes I used:

DIY glitter base coat,
Wet n wild wild shine clear nail protector,
Pink ice by rue21 031,
Wet n wild wild shine French white crème,
Ulta let the flames begin,
and a striping brush.

Loop the loops and hoola hoops

Hi girls!

It's day five in the Christmas Winter Challenge and today's theme is toys. I first thought of doing these nails last week and I'm so glad I was able to squeeze them into all the challenges I'm doing right now!
If the title hasn't clued you in, these are The Chipmunk song (Christmas don't be late) nail art, with a plane that loops the loop and Alvin's hoola hoop! My airplane was inspired by this mani by Enigmatic Rambles, it was painted with a detail brush and the hoola hoop was done with a nail art polish.

Polishes I used:

Wet n wild wild shine clear nail protector,
picture polish frosting by cosmetic cupcake,
Wet n wild fast dry ebony hates chris,
Sinful Colors nail art a slice to go,
and a detail brush.

Fixing loose bobby-pins tutorial

Hi girls!

Lately whenever I do my hair I have to sort through the mess of pins in my desk to find some that aren't bent out of shape, so I sorted through them all and ended up with at least twenty loose/twisted pins. While I was debating whether I should toss them or not I realized it probably wouldn't be that hard to tighten them up, so after finding absolutely nothing online on how to fix bobby pins I decided to remedy that situation by making a tutorial of my own!

The only thing you'll need are some needle-nose pliers and your bobby pins!
Take the closed end of the bobby pin wavy end up and gently pinch it in between your pliers. Don't squeeze to hard or you'll end up either breaking the metal or catapulting the pin across the room (that's what happened on my first try). If that doesn't get it tight enough you can pinch it in the middle and farther down, just make sure not to flatten the waves of the pin.

Tada! Now I have a box full of like new bobby pins and I don't have to sort through them one-handed while holding up my hair with the other!

Holiday Traditions christmas tree nails

Hi girls!

It's Day 4 of the Christmas Winter challenge and today's theme is holiday traditions. My family doesn't go all out for Christmas, but we always get a huge tree and hang about ten pounds of ornaments on it, so that was the inspiration for these nails. I really liked this mani from The Crumpet, and the way she layered the different glitters, so this mani was partly inspired by that.

Polishes I used:

Wet n wild wild shine clear nail protector,
Wet n wild fast dry sage in the city,
Wet n wild fast dry party of five glitters,
and L.A colors art deco gold glitter.

Let it Snow Winter Challenge Day 6

Hi girls!

Today's theme is winter flowers, and rather than doing the obvious flower (poinsettias), I did a snowball mani! We used to have an enormous snowball bush in our front yard at a previous house, and even thought it blooms in spring and not winter I figured since snow is in the name it should count!

My base polish is Pure Ice A-list and I stamped with Konad white and BM15, I really like the way the two polishes contrasted and look almost like a frosted over window pane.

Nail Tarts Christmas Winter Challenge Day 3

Hi girls!

Today's theme in the Christmas Winter challenge is holiday colors (green, red, gold, etc).
I went with a vintage Christmas color scheme for my mani, I was really pleased with how my sweater mani came out yesterday so I used the same stamp again in today's mani.
I started with a base of pink and then added a coat of a heavy gold glitter topper before stamping.

I'm surprised at how orange it turned out, the pink I used was Essence colour & go peaches and cream which is a very light almost pastel pink, but I think it would've of looked less vintage if the colors had turned out differently, so I guess I'm happy!

Polishes I used:

Wet n wild wild shine clear nail protector,
Wet n wild fast dry the gold and the beautiful,
Konad special white,
Essence colour & go peaches and cream,
and W120.

Mish Mash challenge stamping

Hi girls!

This week's theme in the Mish Mash challenge is stamping! I figured I should go with something Christmas related, even though I just thought of a really cool pink and black punk rock looking mani I want to do! So for once I'm being seasonal, although I will be doing something for Friday the 13th in two days.
My right hand's stamping turned out clearer on my right hand so sorry for my slightly awkward looking photo. I started with a gradient of a coral and a red polish, but they melded a little too well so it's mostly red on my middle and ring fingers. Once that dried I stamping with Konad's white stamping polish and W120.

Other polishes I used:

NYC extra shiny top coat,
Wet n wild wild shine clear nail protector,
Wet n wild wild shine red red,
and Wet n wild wild shine blazed.

Let it Snow Winter challenge Day 5 Owls

Hi girls!

I had a devil of a time with these nails, first my basecoat decided to bubble, then my pink base dried into this weird almost shatter, and then the owl image that I stamped smeared all over the place! I had a lot of time invested in this mani already, otherwise I would've just given up, so I just quickly freehanded some owls in black over the top of all my smeared stamping.
I'm glad I didn't give up after the stamping, they're actually kinda cute in a doodly hand-drawn way. Someone told me they look like Totoro and I can't see them without thinking that now!

Polishes I used:

NYC extra shiny topcoat,
Wet n wild wild shine tickled pink,
Wet n wild wild shine black crème,
and a detail brush.

Nail Tarts Christmas Winter Challenge Day 2

Hi girls!

I'm a bit late with today's mani, but better late than never right? Today's theme is winter nature (frost, trees, landscapes, etc.). I stamped some Christmas-y trees over a bright holly red for my second mani of the challenge, and I actually love how it looks!

Usually I'm not crazy about red/gold/green together but I think this green looks fantastic over the red! The tree images actually have very small ornaments on them but they're pretty hard to spot without zooming in all the way!

Polishes I used:

NYC extra shiny topcoat,
Wet n wild wild shine red red,
Rimmel London camouflage,
and W120.

33DC Day 33 and Let it Snow Winter challenge Galaxies

Hi girls!

It's day four of the Let it Snow Winter challenge and the very last day of the 33DC! The 33DC's last theme is freestyle/recreate someone else's mani and other's is galaxies. I used this tutorial from Odette Swan on YouTube. Instead of sponging all the colors at once, with this tutorial you start with a black base, sponge white streaks randomly over your nails, and then sponge a blue polish over the entire nail. I also threw in Nicole by OPI sweet dreams as a glitter topper to add a bit of sparkle.

Polishes I used:

NYC extra shiny top coat,
NYC black lace crème,
NYC French white tip,
Nicole by OPI sweet dreams,
Wet n wild wild shine blue moon,
a sponge,
and a dotting tool.

Mish Mash around the world

Hi girls!

Today's theme in the Mish Mash challenge is around the world, I briefly thought about doing Hetalia nails but I was in a time pinch and that would of probably taken around two hours to do! One of Wistonia's stamping plates has a bunch of iconic landmarks from all over the place, the Statue of Liberty was one of them and I really wanted to use it, but it just wouldn't stamp.
My index finger is the Leaning tower of Pisa (wasn't thinking when I stamped it so it's not that lean-y), my middle is a pagoda, my ring is the Coliseum, and my pinkie is the Eiffel Tower.
And I'm actually wearing pink today for On Wednesdays We Wear Pink!

Polishes I used:

Essence colour and go peaches and cream,
Nina Ultra Pro gladiator,
Konad black,
W114,
and NYC extra shiny top coat.

Day 31 33DC and Day 3 Let it Snow Winter challenge

Hi girls!

It's day three of the Let it Snow winter challenge and today's theme is penguins! It's also day 31 of the 33DC challenge and the theme is to use three of your favorite polishes in a mani. I wouldn't say these are my absolute favorite three polishes since it's so hard to narrow it down, but these are pretty high on my list! I chose Sally Hansen X-treme wear mint sorbet (my base), Jordana boy oh boy, and Wet n wild megalast candy-licous (the stamping).

I also added a super thin coat of Revlon whimsical over the stamping, it's a very light blue glitter topper with pastel blue, pink, and silver glitters. It's pretty drab by its lonesome but it looks great as a topper over this mint polish! I used SH08 and finished with a coat of NYC extra shiny top coat.

Let it snow winter challenge gradients

Hi girls!

I started the Let It Snow Winter Challenge by Rambles of an Polish Addict and Polished by Audison! If you want to jump in you can grab the inlinkz code here and see all the dates and themes!

Today's theme is gradients, I've been in a glittery mood lately so I pulled out a couple blue glitters and just went for it!

My base polish is Wet n wild I need a refresh-mint and my glitters are Pink Ice by rue21 031, Sally Girl brainy, and Nicole by OPI sweet dreams. I really love using sweet dreams as the finishing touch on a mani, I think it'll look great in some snowflake manis I have planned in the next couple weeks!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Hi girls!

Happy Thanksgiving!
I actually had a thanksgiving mani lined up for Monday but my nails just wouldn't photograph so I wasn't able to post them. So here's take two on my turkey nails, I stamped with Wistonia's thanksgiving themed plate; W119.
My base polish is NYC in a new York color minute heat wave, I got it in a pack with fruit punch which I swatched a couple days ago. I don't know if I got a bad bottle or something but it was a pain in the neck to apply and I've never had problems with a NYC polish before. It streaked terribly and took three coats to smooth out!

I'm happy with how my turkey turned out, I originally wanted to stamp it in gold but I didn't think it would stand out enough. The gold polish I used for the leaves is Nina ultra pro gladiator.

33DC Lines glitter tribal mani

Hi girls!

It's day 28 of the 33DC challenge and today's theme is lines! I absolutely love this skittle glitter tribal mani that Plumeria Painted did last week so I picked some of my favorite glitters and painted one of my own!

This is before I added my tribal lines, the index and pinkie nails are glitter toppers over a base and the rest are cream base glitter polishes.

I just used a little detail brush for my lines, this actually came together fairly quick; I think it only took 15 minutes to do. I love how my pinkie turned out, I wish I'd done more of the nails like that!

Polishes I used:

NYC extra shiny top coat,
Wet n wild wild shine sparked,
Wet n wild wild shine French white tip,
EN-VY blue my mind,
Hard Candy peach pop,
Essence colour & go modern romance,
picture polish frosting by cosmetic cupcake,
Nicole by OPI sweet dreams,
Pink Ice by rue21 031,
and a detail brush.
