Framing things

Today's 365 prompt was to buy or make a picture frame and use it to do something. I thought it would be kinda silly to buy a frame just for this, so I cut one out with some craft scissors.
So I had my little brothers help with holding the picture frame and camera angles, and I just basically walked around my yard and took pictures.
This is the very tip of our barn,
An oak tree,
Empress who deemed the project worthy enough to sit still for 32 seconds so I could take a picture,
a little brother who had to have his picture taken,
And our unnamed rooster. I really ought to think of a name for him, but he's gone this long without one so what's the point?

Mail nails and weekly wrap up

Today's 365 prompt is to do something with stamps or inspired by stamps. I thought just using nail plates and "stamping" something would be cheating so I had to really think on this one. At first I thought I might do all my nails as different colored stamps but then I thought of this!
I did my thumb and pinkie as writing scribbles, my ring finger as a stamp, and my middle and index fingers as postage marks.
I really love how they came together, my writing scribbles look way better than I thought they would.
Here's the polishes I used:
L.A colors hardener/strengthener,
Sally Hansen no chip surely ivory,
Orly star of bombay,
Orly ever burgundy,
Wet n wild wild shine french white creme,
Wet n wild wild shine black creme,
Sally Hansen hard as nail xtreme nails mint sorbet,
Fast dry top coat,
a detail brush,
and a striping brush.

And here's my weekly wrap up:
Reading: Shadows cast by stars by Catherine Knutsson,
Listening to: Good time by owl city,
Watching: Doctor who season 5 ( I think I'm officially addicted),
Eating: Oatmeal and Hershey's chocolate,
Drinking: water and mint tea,
Buying: lots of new polishes,
Liking: my new hunger games t-shirt,
Wearing: long skirts and tank tops,
Writing: a new fantasy story,
Making: plans to go to the pumpkin patch,
Finding: lots of nails I need to do on pinterest,
Liking: the leaves changing color,
Disliking:-----

And I had to try one of my new polishes, but I had already done my nails so I swatched one on my toes. This is color mates little blue box, I got a whole bunch of the color mates polishes so I'll probably have a haul post soon.

Yin and yang nail art

I skipped doing pink Wednesday today so I could do these nails. I thought that these nails are just such a cute idea, and I practice martial arts so I had to do them. I started with a base of Wet n wild wild shine french white creme and used Wet n wild fast dry ebony hates chris for the black. I used fast dry top coat to finish it off and that's it! It came together way quicker than I thought it would and was very easy to do. I think I might try it out with bright colors like pink and purple.

MSMD cling wrap mani

I found this technique on caitlin's creative corner a while back and thought it sounded like it would be fun mani to try out.
I started with a base of Elle 18 nail pops 53 and let that dry. I put a pool of Nina ultra pro gladiator on a piece of scrap paper and then I wadded up a ball of saran wrap and dabbed that into the polish. I dabbed the polish onto my nails with the saran wrap and finished with Fast dry top coat.

Water marble nails with Pure ice scandal

For some reason a couple days ago I felt the urge to try to do water marble nails, I don't know why I've had a history of horrible results in the past. I watched a bunch of tutorials and tried some new polishes and by some miracle I succeeded!  I think this is my first entirely successful attempt.
I started with a base of Wet n wild wild shine french creme and let that dry. I used Pure ice scandal, Wet n wild Fast dry ebony hates chris, L.A colors color craze tropical breeze, and L.A colors color craze nuclear energy for the water marbling colors. And I finished it with Fast dry top coat.

I'm very very happy with how this came out, I'm still in amazement that it worked!

big dango family nail art tutorial

This is my tutorial on how to paint Big dango family nail art.

Dripping rose nail art

Today's 365 prompt was very specific and scary sounding at first. The prompt was to make something appear as though all the color had been drained out, making it look like a black and white photograph. I was totally stumped and couldn't figure out how to make this happen in reality, but a friend suggested I do dripping rose nails with the red color dripping out. I thought that was a really clever idea so I painted them last night.
I stamped the white rose and then painted the red drips on them with a detail brush.
Here's the polishes I used:
L.A colors hardener/strengthener,
Wet n wild Fast dry ebony hates chris,
Konad special stamping polish white,
Wet n wild wild shine jezebel,
Bundle monster plate BM14,
a detail brush,

Yellow, blue, and white striped mani

I thought the color combination of this yarn was really pretty, so I used the same colors to do a striped nail design. I tried to make the stripes different sizes and to have the stripes sort of meld into each other.
This is the yarn I based my nails off of, I was planning on making something with it, but I'm glad I left it out or I wouldn't of seen it and thought of this.
 Here's the polishes I used:
 L.A colors hardener/strengthener,
Pure ice french kiss,
Wet n wild wild shine french white creme,
L.A colors color craze sea shell,
a detail brush,
and fast dry top coat.

Pink and purple cheetah mani

I hadn't done a freehand cheetah print yet and I decided it was about time I did, so that's why I have cheetah for you today. It was way easier to do than I expected, little smudges actually make it look better! I started with a dusty rose pink for a base and used black and purple to paint the spots.

Here's the polishes I used:

L.A colors hardener/strengthener,
The color workshop unnamed polish,
Wet n wild wild shine black creme,
Lakme truewear nail color twilight mauve,
a detail brush,
and Fast dry top coat.

Yesterday I went to the voodoo doughnuts in Eugene, and had the best doughnut I've ever eaten.
This is the front of the shop, they have their logo on it and all the different types of doughnuts floating around it.

I got a bacon maple bar, I thought it sounded a little strange but I gave it a go. It was really really good, the bacon went with the doughnut perfectly and tasted awesome.

I didn't taste the voodoo doll one, but it sure does look the part with its little pretzel stake and frosting blood dribbling down.

And these are the wonderful boxes the doughnuts come in, I love the color and drawings.

I think Phineas and Ferb is one of the best shows running on Disney right now, and Perry is my favorite character. So of course I had to do nails of him!
I looked up pictures on google and came up with this.

Red mnm earrings

Today I have a super quick post for you, I'm running a bit late in things this morning.
I made these mnm earrings out of sculpey a couple weeks ago. They came out a bit larger than I expected them to, but not too big to wear.

I started by making two red balls out of sculpey and slightly flattening them. I just pressed the back of my earring post into the clay and baked it like that. And I painted the white m's afterward with acrylic paint.

Red & pink mermaid nails

A lot of people seem to be doing scales for mermaid nails lately and I wanted to do something a bit different. I went through my stamping plates and decided on this one, it's an abstract swirly sort of image. I stamped it in bright red over pink for today's nails.
I don't think it screams mermaid, but I like how they look sort of subtle.

Here's the polishes I used:

L.A colors hardener/strengthener,
Wet n wild wild shine lavender pearlescent,
Konad special stamping polish red,
Shany plate SH11,
and Fast dry top coat.
