Weekly wrap up and new sponges

Lately I've been using makeup sponges for my gradient nails and I haven't been quite happy with how they've been turning out. I went to the dollar tree to get some regular sponges but apparently they don't have normal boring sponges so I have "fun sponges". Normal sponges elsewhere are like twice as much so I decided I might as well get these.

Here's my weekly wrap up:

Reading: Fever by Lauren DeStefano,
Listening: Hey Na Na by Katie Herzig,

Pink tape & treasure map nails

I found this idea of using craft scissors and tape for nails on pinterest a while back. I really like the idea but cutting the tape with craft scissors is pretty tricky, I think I'm going to try with masking tape next time.

Here's the polishes I used:
Wet n wild wild shine clear nail protector,
Wet n wild wild shine tickled pink,
Lakme color crush 03,
clear tape,
and craft scissors.

And day 203's prompt is to make a map going somewhere so I painted treasure map nails. I painted the x marks the spot on my thumb and tracks on the rest of my fingers.

Here's the polishes I used:
Wet n wild wild shine clear nail protector,
Lotus herbals colour dew gold mist,
Orly ever burgundy,
and a detail brush.

MSMD Chalkboard nails ruffle mani

I found this tutorial on chalkboard nails about a week ago and thought it was such a clever way to do ruffles. I really love how it came out, but I wish I had used brighter colors so it would have contrasted better.
I used five different polishes, half blues and half purples.

Here's the polishes I used:
Wet n wild wild shine clear nail protector,
Wet n wild wild shine wild card,
L.A colors color craze nuclear energy,

Picnic blanket nail art

Today's theme for the PCF summer challenge at my wet nails is picnic blankets!

Here's the polishes I used:

In memory of a chicken named Betty

A couple days ago something broke into our chicken coop and Betty was gone. She was the only one missing and thankfully our new chicks were okay. I really loved her and she will be terribly missed. She was great at mothering chicks (although she didn't lay the eggs herself), and was very tolerant of all my picture taking. I waited a few days because sometimes chickens will just randomly turn up, but I'm pretty sure she's gone for good after waiting four days.

These are our new chicks. Ann the chicken has been sitting on them and she is very protective so it's pretty hard to take pictures. There's a black and yellow and a light brown chick.

Dance floor nails

I found this idea on meg's manicures. Today's prompt is to do something with dancing and I thought this would be perfect. Although in my opinion mine looks more like a rubix cube than a dance floor, I like how it turned out.

Here's the polishes I used:
Wet n wild wild shine clear nail protector,
Wet n wild wild shine jezebel,
Wet n wild wild shine black creme,
Wet n wild wild shine lavender creme,
Pure ice free spirit,

Cheshire cat nail art

Hello!

For today's nails I combined my 365 challenge with pink Wednesday. Today's prompt is to do something inspired by mouths. I painted the cheshire cat's smile on my thumb and pink stripy fur on the rest of my nails. I'm really happy with how they came out, I wasn't sure if the smile would go with the fur, but I think it turned out nicely.

Here's the polishes I used:

Wet n wild wild shine clear nail protector,
Wet n wild wild shine lavender creme,
L.A colors art deco green sparkles,
L.A colors art deco black sparkles,
L.A colors art deco white,
Orly razzle,
N.Y.C black lace creme,
and a detail brush.

Devil nail art

Day 195's prompt is to create a monster that has never existed before. I sponged some orange glitter over the red to create flames. I painted a little demon type monster on my ring finger and I stamped a she-devil on my thumb. I used some rhinestones for the demon's eyes.

Here's the polishes I used:

Wet n wild wild shine clear nail protector,
Orly ever burgundy,
Fantasy makers creepy pumpkin,
The color workshop unknown black,
Konad special stamping polish black,
Stop nail rhinestones black,
a detail brush,
and Shany plate SH09.

Paper airplane nails

I saw this design on pinterest a couple weeks ago and thought it would be a great candidate for MSMD. The nails didn't come out quite right but I think I like them. I think part of my problem is my nail brush I use for details, the tip has gotten all frizzy so its not as good for delicate lines. I'm planning on getting some new ones soon but until then I'll just have to soldier on with these.

Here's the polishes I used:
Wet n wild wild shine clear nail protector,
Wet n wild wild shine french white creme,
N.Y.C black lace creme,
L.A colors art deco silver,
Lotus herbals colour dew deep sea,
and a detail brush.

Highway nail art

Day 194's prompt is to make something you can walk on. I picked roads, and I painted a friend's nails to look like a highway. I used art deco polishes to paint the stripes and dashes over a base of a un-named color workshop polish. I like how they came out, but my camera didn't pick up the yellow dashes as well as I would of liked.

Here's the polishes I used:
L'oreal grow strong clear,
The color workshop unknown polish,
L.A colors art deco white,
and L.A colors art deco yellow.

New indian nail polish!

About a month ago I won a contest on the daily nail! The prize was either twenty dollars worth of indian cosmetics/nail polish or a twenty dollar e-certificate to a store of your choice. I picked indian nail polish and I absolutely love the polishes Melissa sent me!

This is all the lovely polish in the box it came in, I unwrapped everything before I even thought of taking pictures so I don't have pics of them when they were all wrapped up.

I painted my nails with all the polishes and took pictures of the bottles along side them.
This is Lakme true wear nail color twilight mauve, and a unknown Lakme color crush.

This is Lotus herbals colour dew deep sea, Lotus herbals colour dew copper gold, Lotus herbals colour dew pink lustre, Lotus herbals colour dew gold mist, and Lakme fast & fabulous one stroke nail color gold caramel.

I painted my nails backward on this one so the bottles and nails are opposite of each other.
This is EN-VY Funny bunny, EN-VY blue my mind, EN-VY cuckoo for you, Elle 18 nail pops unknown coppery gold and blue.

And I just wanted to say thank you so much Melissa I absolutely adore all the polish and I plan on putting it to good use!

Pinnochio nail art

Day 193's prompt is to do something with puppets. I couldn't think of anything for days, and then suddenly I thought Pinnochio! I looked up some images online and tried to sketch his head before I tried it in nail form, that's usually how I decide if I should try it or not. I painted his head on my index finger and his nose stretching across the rest of my fingers. I left my thumb plain so I didn't include it in any of the pictures. I was surprised with how great it came out, I really love how it looks.

Here's the polishes I used:
Wet n wild wild shine clear nail protector,
Wet n wild wild shine french white creme,
Wet n wild wild shine bijou blue,
N.Y.C black lace creme,
N.Y.C in a new york minute water street blue,

Pink (ish) flowered mani

Hello and happy Wednesday! I feel like I haven't been doing a lot of stamping lately so I went through all my plates and settled on the image. My pink polish came out more purple than pink when I layered it over the green but I still like it. It kind of reminds me of the cover of a copy of Anne of green gables that I used to have.

Here's the polishes I used:
Wet n wild wild shine clear nail protector,
Wet n wild wild shine lavender creme,
Pure ice free spirit,
and Shany plate SH20.

MSMD Galaxy nails

I've seen these nails all over so I don't have a specific blog to link back to for this one. I used a makeup sponge to dab different shades of blue and sparkles over a base coat of a very dark blue. They don't quite look like other galaxy nails I've seen, but I like how they came out.

Here's the polishes I used:
Wet n wild wild shine clear nail protector,
Orly star of bombay,
L.A colors color craze current,
L.A colors color craze jewel tones,
The color workshop silver sparkles,
N.Y.C in a new york minute water street blue,
and a makeup sponge.

Twist on newspaper nails

Day 190's prompt is to do something with newspaper. I wanted to do something different than just plain type, so I tried out an idea of mine. I used some produce adds and cut out different images of fruit and things like that. It didn't come out quite like I thought it would but I think I like it. On my thumb I used a pineapple and I like that nail the most.

Here's the polishes I used:
Wet n wild wild shine french white creme,
and Wet n wild wild shine clear nail protector.

And here's my weekly wrap up although it's a bit late:

Reading: Tankborn by Karen sandler,

Listening to: country music,
Buying: a cute blue and white tank top,
Finding: this nail blog,
