knotted cherry stems

So it turns out I do have interesting things to post today! A couple months ago a friend showed me how she could tie cherry stems into knots with her tongue. I was recently thinking that it would awesome if I was able to do it too, so I bought some jarred cherries with the stems still on and started practicing. It took about seventeen cherries and a bunch of tutorials but I finally got it down. This is the tutorial I found most helpful.
And coincidentally day 163's prompt is to make something out of stuff in your fridge so I was clearly meant to learn how to do this today! Thanks for reading!

Mushroom nail art

I got the idea for these nails from a different source than usual. I was watching someone play a video game that had mushrooms in the background and thought they would look cute as nail. I was surprised by how well they came out and really like them.

Here's the polishes I used:
Wet n wild wild shine clear nail protector,
N.Y.C sheer french manicure kisses,
Sally Hansen no chip surely ivory,
L.A colors art deco scarlet,

My version of "cut on the dotted line"

I found this idea on the daily nail and thought it would be great as a pink Wednesday mani. I was originally going to use a L.A colors art deco brush to do the scissors but my brush kept gumming up. I really like using the art deco polishes but, sadly they do tend to dry up and get gummy quickly. So I ended up using a plain black polish with a detail brush and overall it came out pretty good.

Here's the polishes I used:
Wet n wild wild shine clear nail protector,
The color workshop mystery pink,
N.Y.C black lace creme,
and a detail brush.

I took some pictures earlier of floating bubbles on the lawn and decided to throw them in just because I think they're pretty. It was nice and sunny earlier so there were lots of picture taking opportunities.

Day of the dead makeup

Day 159's prompt is to use makeup to make something. It didn't say you had to use skin, you could use paper or some nontraditional material but I decided to stick with skin.
I used some leftover Halloween makeup to do a day of the dead inspired skull look. I used a black eyeliner pencil to do the spiderweb, stitches, daisy on the chin, and petals around the eyes. I created the purplish hollows with black and dark purple eyeshadow. The white is a Halloween Wet n wild painters palette, and to finish I added black lipstick.

Sneaker nail art & cardboard hut

Day 157's prompt is to make something that you can stand on. I decided that shoes fit that description so I painted sneaker nail art. I've seen this design on a bunch of blogs so I'm not sure who first thought of it. I used a detail brush to do the laces, and a dotting tool for the holes. I really love how it came out and I'll probably try it again in different colors.

Here's the polishes I used:
Wet n wild wild shine clear nail protector,
Wet n wild wild shine metallica,
Wet n wild wild shine lavender creme,
Wet n wild wild shine french white creme,
Wet n wild wild shine bijou blue,
Pure ice free spirit,

Rainbow crackle nails

I've been meaning to try this out for a while now and I'm kinda disappointed with how it came out. I thought the colors would be brighter and more would show. But it took forever to paint so I thought I might as well post it. I dabbed all the different colors on my nails in a sort of camo looking design and put white crackle over the top.

Here's the polishes I used:
L'oreal grow strong,
L.A colors color craze shock,
Orly star of bombay,
Wet n wild wild shine Caribbean frost,

A friend gave me these rhinestones for my birthday a few months ago and I been able to use the until now. I painted the skulls with a detail brush and used a pin for the teeth. I love how the rhinestones look but I always end up scraping them off, so I don't use them that often.

Silverware bird

Day 149's prompt is to use all the utensils you own to make something. I decided just to use some utensils instead of tracking down every single one I have. I arranged forks, butter knifes, and spoons on a dish towel to make this bird.

Splendiferous and Daddy's girl mani and weekly wrap up

Day 146's prompt is to make a visual definition of a word from the dictionary. I chose the word splendiferous and painted my nails to portray it. I imagined that it would be bright and feathery, so I stamped a feathery looking image over a bright blue franken polish I made a while back.
Here's the polishes I used:
L'oreal grow strong clear,
a franken polish,
L.A colors art deco dark blue,
and Shany plate SH25.

Day 148's prompt is to make something with only purple materials. I painted my nails with a dark purple and stamped flowers with a purple/pink polish.

and Shany plate SH16.

Pink poodle nails

Originally I was going to paint poodle skirts, but I decided that I'd just stamp the poodles. I'm not sure if I like this stamp that much, I don't think you'd be able to tell that it's a poodle if no one told you.
Here's the polishes I used:
L'oreal grow strong clear,
Wet n wild wild shine tickled pink,
Konad special stamping polish black,
and Bundle monster plate BM04.
