stenciled mermaid

Day 91 of my 365 challenge was to make something with coffee, coffee grounds,or coffee beans. I made a mermaid out of dry coffee grounds. I drew a mermaid silhouette and cut it out with a X-acto knife to make my stencil. I taped it to a paper plate and poured coffee grounds on top. Then I carefully lifted off the stencil (after removing the tape) and voilla!

vampire pinata

Day 90 of my 365 challenge was to make a pinata. I'm posting so late because it took all day to make, and I just now got finished. I used a balloon to make the head and painted it with plain black and white acrylic paint. I'm going for a sorta cartoony feel and I think I accomplished that nicely. I was supposed to smash it (the book said so) but it came out so wonderfully that I think I'll save it for at least for a couple days. I might smash it then!

Pink wednesday and 365

Day 89's 365 challenge is to make something with bubble wrap. I made a glass slipper out of bubble wrap and a little masking tape to hold it together. I used my shoe form to make it, and I also took a picture of me wearing it.

For pink Wednesday I stamped purple vines over a bright pink polish.
Here's the polishes I used:
some clear base coat,
Wet n wild wild shine lavender creme,
Pure ice scandal,

Swan lake origami

Day 88 of my 365 challenge is to use office supplies to make something. I was going to try to make a glass slipper out of tape, but I couldn't find any. So instead I made a origami swan from swan lake. Even though I've had lots of practice from my 1000 cranes project I had to look up how to fold them again. I half remember how to do it now.

Jack jump over the candle stick

Today's theme was to do something with a candle or candle related. I thought of Jack jump over the candle stick so I took this picture. I drew a picture of a boy and cut it out with an x-acto knife, and hung it over the candle with some thread.

Re-trying my challenge

Here's a link to where I first started. I decided to give my book another go so I started where I left off, which was on day 80. Today's challenge was to work with dye or tie dye in an unconventional way. I decided that nail polish is very unconventional so I painted tie dye nails.
Here's the polishes I used:
some clear base coat,
The color workshop white,
The color workshop cherry red,
Pure Ice french kiss,
L.A colors color craze shock,
and L.A colors color craze nuclear energy.

I drew this a couple days ago but couldn't post it sooner. I've seen other finger art with muggers and things like that, and that's where I got the idea. I drew a couple dancing the tango, and dipping. I used a black sharpie to draw them on my fingers, but sadly it rubbed off pretty quickly.

silver polka dots

Happy Wednesday! Today I stamped silvery blue polka dots over a shimmery pink. It looks so pretty in real life but my stupid camera kept glaring, so you can't see the full prettiness of it. The dots go from really big to really small so that might be part of my cameras deal.
Here's the polishes I used:
some clear base coat,
Wet n wild wild shine lavender pearlescent,
Pure ice a-list,
and Shany plate SH23.

Let it snow! part 2

It snowed again and it stuck (yay!) so hence the snow themed nails. Hopefully the snow will stick around awhile so I can actually do something in it, instead of melting like usual. I stamped white snowflakes on top of a dark blue for today's nails.
Here's the polishes I used:
some clear base coat,
Pure Ice french kiss,
The color workshop white,
Shany plate Sh17,
and some clear top coat.

Let it snow!

It snowed for the first time this year today! It melted within two hours but it was still snow! Last year it didn't snow much at all so I'm more excited about it than usual. I stamped white snowflakes on top of a light pink for my snow themed nails.
Here's the polishes I used:
some clear base coat,
The color workshop unknown light pink,
Wet n wild wild shine french white creme,
and Bundle monster plate Bm14.

I baked chocolate chip cookies yesterday too. I had a bunch of leftover dough (I had already eaten a bunch) so I decided to try this idea I saw on Pinterest for deep dish cookies. It looked great when it came out of the oven but was still squishy in the middle. I found that out a while after I turned off the oven so I didn't put it back in. But it still tasted good!

Pink flowered mani

Happy Wednesday! I really love my rainbow nails and didn't want to take them off so I did pink nails on a friend today. I stamped some white rose-like flowers over a light pink for today. I'm planning on using this stamp with a pink instead of a white soon, and I think that'll contrast better than this mani did.
Here's the polishes I used:
a clear base coat,
The color workshop unknown pink,
L.A colors art deco white,
monster bundle plate bm09,
and some top coat.

rainbow nail art

I first saw this mani on nails by kayla shevonne. I really like her version but I wanted to do the stripes on all my nails instead of just one. I used a bunch of the same polishes she used but I switched a few. I just love how this came out and think it's really pretty.
Here's the polishes I used:
a clear base coat
L.A colors art deco purple,
L.A colors art deco dark blue,
L.A colors art deco sea foam green,
L.A colors art deco mint green,
L.A colors art deco yellow,
L.A colors art deco bright orange,
L.A colors art deco scarlet,
and a clear top coat.

I haven't posted any pictures of Betty in forever so I went out this morning and snapped a few. And this handsome rooster is one of the chicks I posted about so long ago. Hasn't he grown up beautifully?

2012 Cherimoya innocence review

A couple days ago I bought some crackle at Walgreens for 2.50 and tried it out today.
It changed to an ugly beige and hardly crackled at all so I returned it this morning and got a refund. I was originally going to buy 2012's version of the color but it was 50 cents more and the other brand had more in the bottle so I got that one. I used my refund and the extra 40 cents to get 2012's innocence, and I really like how it turned out.
It crackled satisfyingly and turned to this pretty lavender. In the bottle it's white so it's just shadowing my polish. I put the crackle over a coat of sinful colors daddy's girl. I just hope it'll look as good with other polishes. I put some clear top coat over the whole thing after it was done crackling to finish. Walgreens has a whole case of different colors and a 2 for 5$ deal so I plan to get more! I really like the spin they put on the names. Some of the ones I saw were: Lucifer, sinner,Genesis, apostles and etc.

Pink, green, and purple flowers

Today I have pink and green dandelion-like flowers layered over a bright pink polish. I let the flowers overlap a bit so I could squeeze both onto one nail and I used two different colors with the same image. My flowers didn't show up as brightly as I expected them to, so their a little difficult to see. I think if I used a lighter pink it would of looked perfect, but sadly this is the lightest pink I have.
Here's the polishes I used:
some clear base coat,
Wet n wild wild shine lavender creme,
Pure ice free spirit,
L.A colors art deco purple,
Bundle monster plate bm02,
and some top coat.

kryptonite nail art

I was listening to the song "kryptonite" by Three doors down and it got me thinking about superman. I haven't done anything superhero related before, so I decided to get two superheros down in one mani. I used a diamond image for the kryptonite and painted the superman and supergirl logos freehand.
Here's the polishes I used:
some clear base coat,
Pure ice french kiss,
N.Y.C long wearing nail enamel black lace creme,
L.A colors art deco seafoam green,
L.A colors art deco pink,
L.A colors art deco scarlet,
L.A colors art deco yellow,

black rose nails

It's 2012! I'm not sure why it's exciting but it feels like it needs to be!
Today I have black roses over a dark red polish. I was playing with my new nail stamps and it turns out using an old gift or credit card works better than my konad scraper. You just have to scrape a bit more carefully because sometimes it slips.
Here's the polishes I used:
a clear base coat,
Orly ever burgundy,
L.A colors art deco black,
Monster bundle plate bm14,
and a clear top coat.
