Happy Halloween!

Here's my finished wedding dress! I bought the fake blood last minute so I haven't got a chance to photograph up 'till now. And if you haven't noticed I'm being a zombie bride. I got the dress a couple months ago and most of the accessories at the dollar tree. I'm very happy with how it turned out and think its one of my better costumes I've made. And as a plus it kept me pretty warm except for my hands which went numb. But besides that the evening went well and we got tons of candy to last 'till at least thanksgiving when we will pig out once again.

Here's the nails that I wore with my costume! I've seen a lot of press on nails like this at drug stores and I wanted to try doing them freehand. I used a pin and dripped drops of nail polish on my nails and then dragged it down to make a trail.
Here's the polishes I used:
Sally Hansen double duty base coat
N.Y.C sheer french manicure nail enamel Kisses
Orly ever burgundy
N.Y.C top coat
a pin

dios las muertes painted skull

I was looking through the clearance Halloween stuff at one of my local craft stores I got this cardboard skull for a dollar, and thought it would be cute as a sugar skull. I used plain acrylic paint and a normal brush.
I started by painting two coats of white over the whole thing.

Then I painted in the teeth with black.

After it all had dried I started making designs out of dots with yellow, pink, and blue paint.

And here's the finished skull!

Thrifted Dress

I bought this dress a couple months ago but I wanted to save it until October because I thought it seemed to say "I'm Halloween ". I got it at a little store in Portland for seven dollars since everything was half off and I've had it set up on a mannequin with my witch hat since then. I'm probably going to keep it up for a while because Halloween is my favorite holiday and I really like the masquerade feel of it.
Sorry about my sideways photo. I couldn't get the whole dress into the picture if I held it normally so I decided the whole thing side ways is better than half of it normal.

These were going to originally be stars but as I was painting them they seemed to look more like flowers so I made them more floral.

100 hundreth post!

In celebration of my 100 hundredth post I wrote an October inspired poem.

Claws and wings the darkness brings,
Howling and groaning, screeching and moaning.
The creaking open of a closed door,
The rustling of something starting to soar.
Clacking and snapping of sharp teeth,
coming from something underneath,
rising up from under the ground,
rumbling, tunneling starting to sound.
Breaking the surface finally at last,
hasn't touched sunlight in many years past.
Spreading out wings and shaking off dust,
thinking, planning starting to lust
for blood, flesh, vengeance and death,
won't be anyone for it left.
Hasn't been awake for so long
didn't hear the call of the song,
that awoken all the other beasts
called them up from underneath.
They all wreaked havoc and destroyed it all,
nothing left for it to maul.
So it folds up again and settles down,
goes back to sleep far under the ground,
to wait until the song is once again sung,
So it can start something to be begun.

I also painted a Frankenstein's monster inspired nail design.
Here's the polishes I used:
Sally Hansen double duty base coat
